david in sweden Posted 31 March, 2015 Share Posted 31 March, 2015 ......of course, the big question is : Has Pellé really found this level too difficult, or is this just the sort of " dry-spell " that many strikers go through? The history of great strikers shows their " inconsistancy / lack of regular scoring " is common to many of them. Saints have some historical examples. In Saints' 1966-67 promotion season, Martin Chivers had scored 30 goals by mid-February (incl. 18 goals in 11 games)....but then failed to score in the final 13 matches. The "young" Steve Moran began 1983-84 with just 3 goals in the first 12 matches (he was even dropped), but then returned to score 17 times in the remaining 22 games. Colin Clarke (started his Saints career -1986) with 16 goals in the first 20 games, but then went 10 games without scoring at all. Not so long ago, James Beattie started the 2002-03 season and failed to score until game no.10, then he netted 23 times in the next 25 games. (just missed Golden Boot) ...so is anyone willing to "write off " Pelle, sell him on and cut our losses......or is this just another .. " striker's blip " ? a1ex2001 Posted 31 March, 2015 Share Posted 31 March, 2015 For me it's just a blip, he's tired and needs a break but we can't give him one, it must be a massive shock to the system going from the Dutch league to the premier league the games come thick and fast and the matches are played at a much higher intensity. For me that is why both Tadic and Pelle have gone off the boil a little bit I expect them to come back strong next season!

It takes a fair bit of adjustment getting used to the Premiere League.
