Most important (or not as it turned out!): Camara against Norwich in 2005

Best goal: Hmm, dunno about best worked goal but the top finish i've seen may well have been jordan robertson's against norwich this season. Not looking good for norwich....

Best will probably be chris baird's v Cardiff, but I wasn't there.

MLT's v Newcastle. Channon's v Liverpool. Danny Wallace's also v Liverpool and Magilton's v Skates (all at the Dell). Pahars' also v Skates, Delap's v Spuds and John's v Hull City (at St Marys).

Edit: I forgot Nick Holmes v Watford and Barry Horne v Bolton (both at the Dell, kicking towards the Milton and closer the halfway line than the goal).

Terry Paine against Southend - from the half way line into the top corner: the Dell went silent in disbelief and then erupted.

Barry Hornes at The Dell(RIP) vs Bolton.

Anyone else remember MLT very nearly scoring just before that direct from the kick off? Keeper only just got his fingers to it. That would have been goal of the century, never mind the season!

Best goal I have ever seen at St Marys was scored by Tugay for Blackburn in 2001.

For Saints best goal would be Pahars headed goal against Charlton a few weeks later in 2001. A magnificent cross from Beattie, a superb header, and afirst league win at St

Marys.[ Look where Saints and Charlton are now].

My memory plays tricks regarding the year, but I remember a great goal (from distance, a real screamer) by David Armstrong. I think it was 1981 against Manu at The Dell?

Danny Wallace vs Liverpool 1984.

Nick Holmes vs Watford 1978 (or maybe 1979) - League Cup

Nick Holmes vs Liverpool 1983 - winning goal in what must be the finest match I ever saw at the Dell.

Kevin Keegan verses Manure at the Dell, Milton Road end.

Overhead kick from the corner of the 18yd box into the top far corner of the net. Disallowed because Dave Armstrong was stood offside (old rules). At least 'Spike' made amends later when he headed our third in a 3-2 win.

I'm sure I've heard KK state that this was the best goal he ever scored and it was disallowed.

On a side note anyone remember a goal that Raul scored for Real Madrid when he lobbed the on-rushing 'keeper yards outside the box and as the ball dropped, instead of controlling it and passing it into an empty net Raul scored with an overhead kick....some goal.

Barry Horne vs Bolton

MLT chip in the hatrick against Norwich

MLT beating 6 players and slotting home from 20 yards in the Hatrick against Norwich

MLT free kick in extra time against Swindon in the League Cup

Was at the back of the Milton for all these, bottom tier, standing. All 4 were scored at that end.

Ivan Golac's goal against WBA - hit from right hand side of pitch into top left corner of goal. I was sat in the east stand bench seats & was right behind flight of the ball (never seen a ball move so much in the air :D)

MLT at the DELL Newcastle oct 93 when he wastoo lazy to collect pass proprly so flicked it over his head using his heal, then flicked it up a couple more times before simply volleying it in to ack of net

Doddsey at SMS impersonating MLT ( at wimbledon ) taking WGS message the Skates are sh1t shoot on sight a bit to literaly & scoring direct from corner

I've seen some belters at Saints, but Baird's vs Cardiff wins it for me. It was just so unexpected, the thought "what the f*ck does he think he's doing" probably went through most people's minds, and when it powered into the back of the net, still rising as it went in, there was a moments pause, then the ground just erupted.

Ended 2-2 though (after being 2-0 up), and a wet, cold and disappointing trip back to Reading followed. :(

Would pick all those myself I think.

Only one missing was Phil Boyer against Notts Forest in 1979. We won 4-1 and Boyer fininshed off an excellent move.

Barry Hornes first against Bolton, at The Dell, in the FA Cup replay.

Will never forget that game.

mental....the ball was in the air for ages...

my fav was MLT first in that game v newcastle...

barry horne vrs bolton at the dell, east terrace at its finest

The East terrace was carnage for that goal. Joyful.

Probably MLT's 2nd v Newcastle. Nonchalant. Was also my 21st so couldn't have been any better.

David Burnside at the Dell in 1963 to make it 3 3 after being 3 0 down

Any of today's team would probably have panicked and smashed it over the bar

After O'Brien hit the post! The Dell went mad!

letiss v arsenal was special. as were most of his goals. Probably the best one that sticks in my mind was Barry Horne v Bolton in the cup, injury time equaliser screamer.

barry horne against bolton at the dell circa 91 (ish).

As I remember a long range blast to take us into extra time, then something similar to win the game.

those were the days. throwing up over the side of the red funnel after 2 bottles of merrydown. oh yes.
