ART Posted 28 March, 2015 Share Posted 28 March, 2015 Few more deserving and worthy, overdue than our own Ryan Bertrand http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/566613/Southampton-Ryan-Bertrand-Roy-Hodgson-England-Italy
CB Fry Posted 28 March, 2015 Share Posted 28 March, 2015 Not that overdue, he was rightly nowhere near the squad last season.
Mattio Posted 28 March, 2015 Share Posted 28 March, 2015 Won't make the start XI though.
Bearsy Posted 28 March, 2015 Share Posted 28 March, 2015 Reckon he'll prob start. The game isn't till Tuesday, and the chances of Kieran Gibbs going 3 days without picking up an injury, must be tiny
SNSUN Posted 28 March, 2015 Share Posted 28 March, 2015 Barteand? Does he moonlight at Wetherspoons? ;-) I'm glad he's been called up because he deserves it but the way Hodgson has done it by leaving him out the original squad smacks a bit of desperation. Maybe we're biased as Saints fans but he's been consistently one of the best left backs this season, certainly more so than Baines, at a pinch Rose, and probably even Gibbs who has to compete for his team place with Monreal. simo Posted 28 March, 2015 Share Posted 28 March, 2015 Everyone else In the top 4 are getting their players rested , we're still getting ours called up!
Window Cleaner Posted 28 March, 2015 Share Posted 28 March, 2015 Everyone else In the top 4 are getting their players rested , we're still getting ours called up! Probably because we're not in the Top 4 and have very little chance of being so. Internationals are still motivating for our players, most of them still have plenty to prove. Baird of the land Posted 28 March, 2015 Share Posted 28 March, 2015 Seems bizarre to me that he wasn't considered good enough to be called up when rose pulled out but now days later he's being added as third left back.

Leicestersaint Posted 28 March, 2015 Share Posted 28 March, 2015 Bad news - another one to get nobbled and off to Liverhampton or Manure etc.
Charlie Wayman Posted 28 March, 2015 Share Posted 28 March, 2015 I am really pleased for him. Well deserved and not before time. Give it your best shot Ryan and the job is yours for keeps. Baines? Who he?
Redslo Posted 28 March, 2015 Share Posted 28 March, 2015 Bad news - another one to get nobbled and off to Liverhampton or Manure etc. He just signed a long term deal here and he has already had the experience of sitting on a bench at a big club. I doubt he will be so easily seduced.

I have to agree I think more than any other player at the club Ryan is likely to be weary of moving to a big club, his past experience must tell him he is better off here! I doubt he will be so easily seduced. Agreed. He was receiving praise months before he made his move permanent. Not comparable to the others who were already Saints players when the praise started growing.
