Seriously. OK I won't comment about the rights and wrongs of both sets of idiots up in "the Promised Land" but to do this at 9pm on the night before NYE......

Luckily I was staying in for a bbq but a lot of tourists came into town just for this - ouch:mad:

So, what happens if you're caught celebrating?

For those at home it's no big deal. Around the millenium we had Ramadan clashing with NYE and so there was no entertainment - just posh dinners and "subdued music". So we all had house parties with mates.

This one is different, the place had REALLY been behind the curve with the recession and all that with every hotel trying to outdo their competitors with BIGGER and BETTER events. So you have restaurants with "International DJ's@ charging 1000 Quid for a 5 course dinner (I swear) but of course now - no celeb. Lot's of places have flown bands and the likes in from Europe, spend thousands on fireworks and the like and everyone will sit around and go "oh, sombre New Year greetings to you". Them that have paid for "entertainement" including a meal will not get a refund, just a dead dull "International Buffet"

The rest of us - we'll be at home doing what we had actually planned - a nice subdued bbq with mates, a shed load of booze and genteel celebrations at midnight, 3am (for our European mates) and 4am for us Brits.

Wasn't the cancellation that hurt business it was the lack of notice and a lot of people have lost even MORE money in one night than they did all year...

eg All those thousands who flew out of freezing Blighty et al for their dream party on a beach.... oops

For the organiser of an official event something like

Revoking of Alcohol and Entertainment licence for a period of up to one year, (ie total destruction of your business), fine of a min of 6,000 quid, min one month jail and deportation.....

Having a disrespectful house party with music too loud that offends the neighbours much the same potential fine and stuff. BUT having a sensible party with sensible music - no problem, quite normal during Ramadan

Really depends on whether you understand and respect where you are or if you're an a*8hole. Plenty of them in UK get into trouble as well being too wild. Also plenty of other nationalities here have a**holes as well, not just a p*ssed Brits thing

Vice President, Prime Minister AND Ruler.

How many titles does one person need?

I bet he's got a really small di(k and is trying to compensate ;)

Although Phil is obviously keeping his nose clean this site may well have other members who are now subject to a Fatwah for being so rude to the Vice President, Prime Minister AND Ruler of Dubai!
