GarrettIvo Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Pretty clear we could never ever afford to pay what Benteke is worth. **** defence from Lovren.
jawillwill Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Just to confirm (in sure it's been asked countless times already), but do runners up in the cup get Europe anymore? Would it still open a place up to 7th in the league if Arsenal beat Villa in the final?
IOWSaintDaz Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Don't we need Liverpool to win to guarantee Europa League football next season???

Would it still open a place up to 7th in the league if Arsenal beat Villa in the final? Yep. Arsenal would beat villa in the final IMO
BotleySaint Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Don't we need Liverpool to win to guarantee Europa League football next season??? No we need to finish 5th
Baird of the land Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Villa might trouble Arsenal at this rate and only top 6 end up getting europa.
Dr Who? Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 We will just need Arsenal to beat Villa in the final and 7th will be fine.... Now Spurs score!
Lets B Avenue Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Just to confirm (in sure it's been asked countless times already), but do runners up in the cup get Europe anymore? This has been done to death on here. Latest proof. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32358581
S-Clarke Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Well Spurs have won that one then, just a case of by how many now.
Dr Who? Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Cup runner up no place in Europe.... Again http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32358581
Dr Who? Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Well Spurs have won that one then, just a case of by how many now. Not strictly 100%, true, but probably!
Batman Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 BT sport need to get out of the arse hole of rogers. Salivating how he is always thinking 1 or 2 steps ahead of his opposition in the dug out. Jesus Christ
lickierambert Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Can someone tell me how the hell Newcastle have got 35 points this season? They are so ****
Dr Who? Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Can someone tell me how the hell Newcastle have got 35 points this season? They are so **** Spurs are not much better. Bit of a nothing game. They had a great run of result, which has saved them this season. Pretty tosh either side.

Lets B Avenue Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Do you think Stevie G will go and watch Arsenal v Villa at Wembley for a birthday treat? (This is because his birthday is on the day of the final. Bet you lot didn't know that.)
Batman Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Close. Gerrard header off the line. BT sport nearly wet themselves
angelman Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Cup runner up no place in Europe.... Again http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32358581 Ah - that's excellent, so long as Arse win. Much happier now, than I was. Might also help with our game vs Villa, who seem in good form now. Fair does to Sherwood. Thought he was all mouth but he seems to have the trousers to go with it.
angelman Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 A Heartbreak for Steven Gerrard? Who gives a ****? Well done Villa would be more appropriate.
Batman Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Villa win. Sherwood has a super record as a manager. Fair play to him I wonder if levy is regretting it
simo Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Ballotelli goal wrongly ruled offside ! Ffs it was never going to be that easy was it
explorer saint Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Biased BT sport unbelievable poor old scoucers
Sour Mash Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Fair play Villa and Sherwoo, done great. Don't know what's happened to Liverpool in the last few weeks.
S-Clarke Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 So is Rogers still an incredible tactician? He is a clown who will hopefully be shown the door soon, cannot stand the bloke. The way he's used Lambert this season is nothing short of a disgrace. We just need to make sure we finish 5th or 6th, sod sitting through the final supporting Arsenal.
obelisk Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Good Villa performance. Liverpool were woeful. Rather than hope Arsenal win the final I suppose Saints could actually try scoring some goals and try winning a few games.
MOSaint Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Saints finish 7th = cheer for Arsenal in the final. Spurs or Liverpool finish 7th = cheer for Villa. Simple
Dr Who? Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Fair play Villa and Sherwoo, done great. Don't know what's happened to Liverpool in the last few weeks. It is quite funny though. We just need to focus on our job in the next 5 games and try and finish 5th or 6th. If not come on you gunners!
Dr Who? Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Always happy to see Liverpool lose but that has really ****ed us. Not even making the Europa league after this season is absolutely gutting. We still can, by ending 5th or 6th and if not Arsenal win the cup!
simo Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Good Villa performance. Liverpool were woeful. Rather than hope Arsenal win the final I suppose Saints could actually try scoring some goals and try winning a few games. May give us a kick up the Harris knowing we cant rely on other teams results
Dr Who? Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Newcastle score! Nice, 2 out of form sides..... Then lunchtime Saturday 2 out of form sides meet again!
Lets B Avenue Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 How on earth anyone is torn on something like is baffling the hell out of me. European football would be something to look forward to all summer, a genuine achievement and a step forward for the club. And you're "torn" about preferring to have a two minute chortle at the manager and players of another club who have nothing to do with us? I'd happily see Liverpool win the cup 10 - nil if it got us what we want. Well I've spent the entire afternoon "supporting" Liverpool as I wish to go travel to lots of European away trips next year, (it was better than listening to Hampshire's latest batting collapse) and I have come to the inescapable conclusion, that whatever I wished for, had no bearing whatsoever on the final outcome. I will now open a bottle and pi ss myself stupid at Lovren and Smugface's sorrow.
KK the 2nd Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Is there still a place through the "fair play league" and do we have a chance that way?
S-Clarke Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Is there still a place through the "fair play league" and do we have a chance that way? Yes, and no. Amazingly, through some weird divine intervention, West Ham top the Fair Play league.
Lighthouse Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 I seem to remember a few years ago Fulham were top of the fair play league and must have decided they didn't want to play in Europe as they kicked the sh*t out of the other team on the last day of the season.
Micky Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 So does this mean that we are not going to be in the champions league or the Europa league? I can see villa winning the FA Cup, arguably meaning they will have had a better season than us. Spurs winning 3 - 1 as well. Think things are starting to peter out somewhat.
S-Clarke Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 This weekends results have really put yesterday's loss into perspective. It's potentially all over. The Spurs game is massive. What's potentially all over?
MOSaint Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 What's potentially all over? Saints' season obviously. After all, Spurs toppled the almighty Newcastle. Who saw that happening? Not like Newcastle are ****houses whose survival in the PL shows how weak the league is.
The Kraken Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 This weekends results have really put yesterday's loss into perspective. It's potentially all over. The Spurs game is massive. Well that's certainly some leap you've made there. 9 points ahead of 8th place and its its still much more likely than not that Arsenal will win the FA Cup.

Tom & Gerry Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Or how about the old fashioned idea that we win a trophy and then go in to Europe. Winning something seems to be a concept people have difficulty grasping probably due to only winning one trophy in our entire history. That would be a better way to grow the club and it would be good for the fans and some of us would then be less concerned with the consequences. If the Europa league was so good for Swansea and Everton how on earth are we 7th without ever being in it. Of course I would like to see us play the teams you mention but we would need to get past an awful lot of dross to play them.
Griffo Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Awful weekend football wise. Got a bad feeling we're going to finish 7th and Villa will win the cup.

Of course I would like to see us play the teams you mention but we would need to get past an awful lot of dross to play them. What trophy can we still win this season exactly? I'd love to win something too, but I still believe a certain MP blew our best chance of a final last season. Finishing in a European place is kind of like reaching a final for a club like us. We will hopefully have a decent run in a cup within the next season or so, but I'd say finishing in a European place via a league position is going to offer the club a lot more growth, as opposed to winning a cup and finishing in the bottom half - or being relegated.

The UEFA Cup predominantly existed for English clubs to qualify for Europe without actually winning anything. Champions went into the European Cup, FA Cup winners into the Cup Winners Cup. It's hardly a new phenomenon that winning nothing qualified you for Europe. Same for the Champions League these days.
Dr Who? Posted 19 April, 2015 Posted 19 April, 2015 Finishing 7th and relying on arsenal to win a cup or being remembered for coming 6th and doing it our way. Either, but 6th would be better, as there will not be a qualifying game.
