Fitzhugh Fella Posted 21 March, 2015 Share Posted 21 March, 2015 Tadic's rather dodgy pen v Chelsea, was the 350th Saints have been awarded in competitive football since the war. The question is........... how many have we missed and what is our success rate percentage wise? I am off to the game now via the pub but have a guess and I will come back later this evening with the answers.
beatlesaint Posted 21 March, 2015 Share Posted 21 March, 2015 I'm gonna say we have missed 37 so whatever % rate that converts to........around 89% success rate. only based on my experience of watching Saints with Peach, Le Tiss, Beattie and Sir Rickie being pretty accurate to say the least. Those four players missed just 3 between them (Peach 2 and Le Tiss 1) but I gotta warn you before them we had some disasters. Mick Channon for instance missed 10 from
Saint Without a Halo Posted 21 March, 2015 Share Posted 21 March, 2015 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2996836/Dusan-Tadic-ensures-Southampton-remain-spot-kick-kings-astonishing-95-success-rate-penalty-spot.html Our premier record is pretty good! so that leaves another 295 to research! Of the premier misses one is the famous Le Tiss one v Forest the other was Dusan against Burnley who was the third?

The Cat Posted 21 March, 2015 Share Posted 21 March, 2015 Fitzhugh couldn't help but mention Tadic's penalty was dodgy. Yes, we get you don't rate him but it's getting quite dull now. I can only imagine he was aghast when he stuck away the winner at Old Trafford. And anyway, who cares how many penalties we've had since the war. Football is now measured in pure and after Premier League terms. Nothing else will suffice.

SO5 4BW Posted 22 March, 2015 Share Posted 22 March, 2015 So that's in league and cups? Most important - Peach in the semi-final, Paine v Forest in the first year in the top division, any others...? Who were the guilty men? - we must have had a terrible record pre-Peach to have missed 21% in total since the war

Of the premier misses one is the famous Le Tiss one v Forest the other was Dusan against Burnley who was the third? Crikey if we missed 80 in total but only 5 out of 55 in the premier 95% success that means we missed 75 out of 295 pre premier 74% and that is pretty poor. Shows just how much more hidden value we got out of Le Tiss, Lambert and Beattie (and that is despite the improvement in the non premier figures from Lambert in L1 and the Championship as it would look even more sick without him)
Gemmel Posted 22 March, 2015 Share Posted 22 March, 2015 I don't know for sure but would imagine we have the highest conversion rate in Premiership history.
Stud mark of doom Posted 22 March, 2015 Share Posted 22 March, 2015 Does this include shoot outs? We haven't done too bad in those - from memory Millwall at the dell won scoring all 5? Man Utd circa 92 ditto but only needed 4 Jpt v Norwich won - maybe missed one out of 5? Derby ...... Missed 2 of

Best advice to a keeper today seems to be to stand still.
