Tadic's rather dodgy pen v Chelsea, was the 350th Saints have been awarded in competitive football since the war.

The question is........... how many have we missed and what is our success rate percentage wise?

I am off to the game now via the pub but have a guess and I will come back later this evening with the answers.

I'm gonna say we have missed 37 so whatever % rate that converts to........around 89% success rate.

only based on my experience of watching Saints with Peach, Le Tiss, Beattie and Sir Rickie being pretty accurate to say the least.

Those four players missed just 3 between them (Peach 2 and Le Tiss 1) but I gotta warn you before them we had some disasters. Mick Channon for instance missed 10 from 38

Our premier record is pretty good! so that leaves another 295 to research!

Of the premier misses one is the famous Le Tiss one v Forest the other was Dusan against Burnley who was the third?

Fitzhugh couldn't help but mention Tadic's penalty was dodgy. Yes, we get you don't rate him but it's getting quite dull now. I can only imagine he was aghast when he stuck away the winner at Old Trafford.

And anyway, who cares how many penalties we've had since the war. Football is now measured in pure and after Premier League terms. Nothing else will suffice.

Which war? Do you have any stats on how many throw ins we've had since the 2nd Boer War?

So that's in league and cups? Most important - Peach in the semi-final, Paine v Forest in the first year in the top division, any others...?

Who were the guilty men? - we must have had a terrible record pre-Peach to have missed 21% in total since the war

Well I have mentioned Channon with 10, but Paine and Day missed 6 each, big Ron missed 4, Ball 3, John Page 5, George O'Brien 4 and the rest are twos and threes like Cockerill and Ruddock missed a couple each as did McGoldrick and most memorably for me Surman missed one at Doncaster and netted me £1250

Crikey if we missed 80 in total but only 5 out of 55 in the premier 95% success that means we missed 75 out of 295 pre premier 74% and that is pretty poor.

Shows just how much more hidden value we got out of Le Tiss, Lambert and Beattie (and that is despite the improvement in the non premier figures from Lambert in L1 and the Championship as it would look even more sick without him)

So we missed far more when goalkeepers couldn't even move before the kick!

Best advice to a keeper today seems to be to stand still.
