England Squad

Not the way he played tonight. I thought that he was quite poor by his standards.

Thought he was a real passenger. Lost the ball, went down too easily, wayward passing and a few runs going nowhere.

Really sad as the other times I've seen him for England he's been excellent

You're right. It's not like Shaw withdrew as well. And Rose.

Who the f*ck let you back on anyway.

Calm down Jeff, why so spiteful?!!

Shaw withdrew, it was only a year ago people on here saying he was going to be england left back for the next 10 years! Rose I'll give you, not much between him and Bertrand. Baines had beem a squad regular for years so Bertrand being fourth choice left back for England is probably about right. BTW you do know Danny Wellbeck pulling out would have zero effect on Bertrands call up don't you??

England will get to France but they will be on the first boat straight back again. The stench of Brazil and failure when it matters still hangs around this England squad. Need to permanently dispense with Rooney, Welbeck, Henderson, Sterling, Cahill and Baines. All Chokers.

There's the problem. England's team is still traveling by boat. That's no way to maintain fitness.

Bit harsh on sterling.

What a load of crap. And anyway, who would you replace them with?

That'll be the same Rooney, Welbeck and Sterling who scored 3 of our 4 goals

Moronic post.

You replace them with the mythical "next generation" of bright young kids to replace the "tired old guard" of, well, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Wellbeck.

And then some sap (traditionally Alpine) chimes in with "let's chuck a lot of 19 year olds in and not even try to qualify for the next tournament, because that will mean we will then be in a great position to win the tournament after". The forum idiots guide to saving the national team.

Not forgetting the inclusion of every English saints player where possible.

Not forgetting the inclusion of every English saints player where possible.

Everyone accepts our team that finished runners up in L1 was better than the then England team, so that argument has always rung true.

It's a shame that Jack Cork is no longer good enough for England, though.

I think his move to Liverpool did that!

Quite possibly. It's also ironic that hodgsons remarks about the saints players being more likely to get international game time if they were playing for bigger clubs may have triggered his move to the dippers.

He moved to Liverpool because he wanted to play for Liverpool.

To be fair, a lot of that L1 squad have been proven to be international quality.

Baines, Sterling, Milner and Welbeck withdrawn from the squad, Bertrand called up. How insulting that it took that many players withdrawn...

Tbf only one is a lb, and Bertrand/Rose are about the same level. Shaw will be a top top player. It seems worse because he is our player. But its not as bad as everyones made out

Agreed. Lost possession a few times and didn't bomb forward and overlap as much. Still settling in I guess.

Only saw the 2nd half, but it seemed Welbeck was the only player interested in passing to him, no matter how often he was in space wide , the like s of Henderson and Delph only seemed interested in going into the middle or out left to Sterling.

Keep this under your hat, but in the attacking sense, our national team is now looking rather stronger than it has for many years. Whether we currently have enough defenders of the required standard to really 'do something' on the international stage for once is another question however - the Italy match should show.
