Are we going to have any players left?

Utter garbage.

Were they at all interested when he was carving it up for Salzburg? That would have been the time.

Back before the internet papers didn't have so much space to fill.

Seriously if not for porn I'd have disconnected a long time ago.

Brilliant....

Yes tabloid nonsense is my bet, though I've been wrong before.

Besides, the basis of this rumour seems to be that Walcott = fast, and mane = fast, therefore .... mane for walcott?

Mane clearly really enjoys playing under Koeman and looks up to him. Cannot see why he would move to Arsenal to a frontline he's bound to only get in to every 3-5 games or so.

Exactly my problem with all these pointless "news outlets" and blogs on the internet. Poorly written, bad grammar, no proofreading and generally just one spotty oik's opinion.

This is very true. I guess you write something controversial and it generates traffic to your site.

But.....

Didn't we go through this at the end of last season, dismiss most things, and most things came true? Not that I really mind so much as I am making a concerted effort to be more pragmatic about football and it's impact on my life. Could Arsenal be last years Liverpool and be singing MS, VW and SM?

If we've learnt anything from last year anything can happen and probably will. My gut reaction is we will lose Alderweireld, Clyne, Schneiderlin and Wanyama, probably Rodriguez and have to resist overtures for Mane. I can also see a promising youngster like Reed doing a Chambers. The simple fact is that the 'Sky Six' do not want to become the 'Sky Seven'. Unsettling players initially and then dismembering the team if they can is probably the only way they can stop the rise of Saints at the expense of one, two or even three of them. I don't think there is any conspiracy going on as such, it just the other teams protecting their interests and at present they can afford to outbid us in terms of pay due the inequalities created by FFP. Our players as Champion League/Europa League contenders have an even greater stock than they did last season as upper mid-table players so hopefully transfer fees if they become relevant will be fixed accordingly. I am sure the club do have a plan to stop as much of this hemorrhage as they can, and a plan for the worst case scenario should it happen. We can only hope that with a manager hopefully staying rather than the situation last season there will be some degree of stability that wasn't there in 2014. Additionally these sort of things tend to be cyclical coinciding with World Cup and European Championship years.

Im making the call that they won't. The rumours about VW were flying when coquelin wasn't playing but now that he's regular FT and that Ramsey is playing much deeper in the games I've seen him, I think they will at most sign one new CM. Mane though? I mean he's the player that Arsenal don't need; a speedy winger....but Arsenal being Arsenal the signing they don't need is exactly the kind of signing they'd make.

Mind you, should cazorla leave, giroud lose favour and walcott contract run out, they might need to fill some gaps up front

We will lose players in the summer, however it won't be like last year. For a start we have a stable management set-up, coaching set-up, and we're able to plan for next season. MP just strung us along for months and screwed up a lot of our plans I bet.

But although it'll be sad at some points in the summer, I think we'll be excited by the replacements we manage to get. Come October next year, I'm sure we'll be missing the players we lose, but not in the way some expect.

IF......there is any credibility to this at all (which I personally doubt)......would Mane want a move?... He seems to be happy here, although we know money talks ....:suspicious:

IF... it were to come to pass.....would Theo want a move? .Why not ..doesn't his wife come from So'ton ?.....if he stays injury free ... then it would sound like a good arrangement.

FEE?.. considering his "sale " to Arsenal was between £6 mill --£10 million, he's now 8 years older ..can he be worth more,?... IF...Arsenal are willing to part with him already...

As for a fee for Mané ...the sky's the limit. As we paid a " reputed " £12 million....as he 's younger than Walcott...why not start discussions at £20 million...?

well in one way, we'll always have players left..the real Q. is....would they be good enough replacements?.......

.... but judging by Les and Ronald's past delvings into the Black Box.. it'll be like waiting for a bus ..another one will turn up sooner or later.

on a purely mercenary note; we know not all Academy lads will become first-teamers earning international caps, but there will be some gems there and so selling today's Crown Jewels won't stop us digging up new treasures...(excuse the literal comparisons ).in the coming years.

....and the incoming fees would give us " big income / bank balance " to help overcome the threatened restrictions of FFP.

Whether we get Euro football next season .....or even the season after doesn't really matter so much....if you consider that a stable top half finish every season will ease the heart attack stats. at SMS....especially after 27 seasons of " just managing " to avoid relegation up until 2005.

This^^^ and the FFP is just another UEFA joke to protect some clubs at the expense of the rest.

True, after last season I'm sure Les Reed and co have everything planned out and have taken into consideration. Everyone should be prepared this season, so there shouldn't be a meltdown on here like there was last summer. I think Morgan, Clyne and Toby will certainly leave, but wouldn't be so sure about the others. Either way, we will need to bring in another 6 or 7 players if we are to cope with the demands of the PL and the Europa league.

Another way to look at it is any player considering leaving will see that, as a club, we coped well with the apparent upheaval therefore they won't feel as guilty about going - if that is ever a consideration of course.

I also don't think we should under-estimate the pull of playing for saints. Think back to when we got promoted, how much more attractive a proposition are we now? Even going back a year, we've improved and raised our stock. As a player you will see how we support and nurture talent, plus the team spirit is strong and as a club we have a strong individual identity - the opportunity to play for a club like ours and challenge or disrupt the established clubs will be a big motivator to some people. On top of all this we have some of the best facilities and a superb high-profile manager.

Agree that Saints is not an unattractive club to play for. OK many will see it as a stepping stone but that's life. We pay a decent wage (I would have thought) and seem to know what direction we want to go in.

I do sometimes wonder though, about players and their wages. Say we pay £40k a week, that's a pretty good wage and I doubt any/many on this forum would turn that down. Sure, moving to a bigger club will pay more, but is that really important if you are already earning so much? I suppose it comes back (slightly) to MLT who stayed here because of the area, closeness to family etc, when he could have moved elsewhere for a higher wage.

Becoming rich doesn't stop you wanting more. How many rich people do you know of that turn their back on more money despite having an amazing life? I would say it's minimal compared to those who continue to want to accumulate.

I'm not particularly worried this time around as I think we can get in decent replacements.

We are the premier leagues athletico Madrid, sell the best players every year for tons of cash and get in decent replacements

Come off it, you've been around here long enough not to posit such a daft question. Don't worry, be happy, it's only football and they'll all be gone in 7 years but you'll still be here no doubt worrying about the same thing then. Trust in Ronald!

Looks like both Man City and Man Utd will have a fairly big clear out of players this summer so I expect most of the heat on our players to come from that direction.

No English clubs in the last 8 of Europe isn't great for us as I imagine all the big clubs will be looking to improve a lot and with our performance this year challenging top 4 there is even more focus on our players.

Clyne and Morgan are the most likely to go, Jay Rod if he doesn't sign, I think we stand a fair chance of recruiting Toby based on his comments.

I can't see the club agreeing on Wanyama going if Morgan goes, not without a massive fight. Nor Mane after just one season.

I doubt we have any Lovren types in the camp at the moment, could be wrong but I doubt many players will agitate for a move.

If we could just sneak that 4th I doubt we'd loose anyone.

Stable manager though who will attract players to him will help massively not to mention our continued improvement and likely europa league spot together with our so far very good long term planning and scouting should mean that we can attract decent quality replacements.

MLT is a one-off, we won't find another player like him. Plus, wasn't his family very wealthy before he even started playing?

this thread gets funnier all the time. So here's another idea.....

..why don't the "big clubs" who are so dependent on signing our players..leave them to play Saints' games at SMS.. and let their own U21 / B teams play at home.:smug:

At this rate-by... next summer, they'll be an entire" former Saints Academy" squad spread around other clubs in the Prem. ...and we'll be about £200 million richer...:D

You know CW, I am increasingly pragmatic about football and also how it affects my life. With the latter, it is entertainment which either leaves me elated or ****ed off (and various stages in between) and that is all. My well being and livelihood are not dependent on how we perform on the pitch nor who is employed by the club.

The post/question was very much tongue in cheek. I look at football and all that is wrong with it and find it faintly amusing that so many people seem oblivious to it. I'm not referring to anyone on here, as I think that most are well aware of some/many of the problems that there are.

Nope, comfortable, well known but not wealthy. I was on a sailing holiday years ago and in a pub in Guernsey: got chatting to a local who told me that all the family were good at sport: natural eye/hand/foot co-ordination. MLT could have earned more, but he never strikes me as disatisfied with his financial lot!
