angelman Posted 13 March, 2015 Posted 13 March, 2015 Congrats to the lad for winning U21 Premier League Player of the Month Award http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2991918/Ryan-Seager-wins-Barclays-U21-Premier-League-Player-Month-Award.html Had hoped to see him feature in the seniors this season.
S-Clarke Posted 13 March, 2015 Posted 13 March, 2015 He gives me advice in training, as do Shane Long and Graziano Pelle, with my shooting and movement. Oh dear
doddisalegend Posted 13 March, 2015 Posted 13 March, 2015 L:)ike this bit Best advice you've been given? Rickie Lambert, last season when I trained with him, told me I don't always have to shoot with power, to finesse it more often, and since then I've scored most of my goals from that. I look back to that advice.
sotonist Posted 13 March, 2015 Posted 13 March, 2015 are young footballers really incapable of working this out or are they just resistant to change until someone they respect states the obvious?
Andy_Porter Posted 13 March, 2015 Posted 13 March, 2015 are young footballers really incapable of working this out or are they just resistant to change until someone they respect states the obvious? its a sign of good character to listen and learn from people. If if he was going through his youth football blasting the ball into the next scoring every week it would be a fairly hard thing to change to trying to place things more often I'm sure. Remember as a striker you usually don't have any time to think, if you over think the chance has gone...
doddisalegend Posted 13 March, 2015 Posted 13 March, 2015 Top lad, well deserved. Apart from his music tastes .....The Wanted:scared:
SuperSAINT Posted 7 July, 2018 Posted 7 July, 2018 Euro loan move imminent? @SouthamptonPage: Dutch news outlet Haarlems Dagblad are claiming Ryan Seager is close to joining Telstar on loan from Southampton. #saintsfc
Badger Posted 7 July, 2018 Posted 7 July, 2018 Euro loan move imminent? I'd forgotten he was still at the club.
trousers Posted 7 July, 2018 Posted 7 July, 2018 Was one of our best attacking prospects in the academy a few years ago, scoring for fun at that level. Intriguing how some players can be superb at one level but not make it up to the next. (That said, maybe the serious injury he had a couple of seasons ago has done for him?)

Until that injury the club has high hopes for him. Never gonna be the player he could have been sadly.
SuperSAINT Posted 14 July, 2018 Posted 14 July, 2018 https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-07-14/ryan-seager-southampton-sc-telstar-loan-deal-announcement Interesting move.
Convict Colony Posted 14 July, 2018 Posted 14 July, 2018 (edited) very very very weird. I think telestar play on a fake pitch and are in the 2nd division, not far from me maybe i will go up there during the season. edit - Dont think its fake Edited 14 July, 2018 by Convict Colony

Hope he gets the chance to play & stays injury free.
VectisSaint Posted 14 July, 2018 Posted 14 July, 2018 It's an odd move but fair play to him for wanting to go abroad. Hope he gets the chance to play & stays injury free. Hopefully Jan Poortvliet is nowhere near his two times old club. Maybe the move is a tribute to the Tornados bass player, Heinz who used to live in Eastleigh (apologies to anyone under 55 who won't know what the **** I am talking about). Actually good to see us putting young players out on loan in Holland, seems better to me than lower leagues in England, works well for Chelsea.
LGTL Posted 14 July, 2018 Posted 14 July, 2018 About time we sold him. Said it years ago, is never going to be good enough.
egg Posted 14 July, 2018 Posted 14 July, 2018 About time we sold him. Said it years ago, is never going to be good enough. That would need a club willing to buy him. Reality is it loans until he's out of contract or we pay his contract up and he finds another club.
SuperSAINT Posted 4 August, 2018 Posted 4 August, 2018 https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-07-14/ryan-seager-southampton-sc-telstar-loan-deal-announcement Interesting move. Decent! @Ryan_Seager: Great 5-0 win yesterday and not a bad feeling scoring 4 . Feeling ready for the season ahead!!
Gorgiesaint Posted 4 August, 2018 Posted 4 August, 2018 That's 7 in 3 games in pre-season now. But it is only Telstar playing non-league & amateur opposition. Still good start for him.

Dr. Kucho Posted 11 August, 2018 Posted 11 August, 2018 Telstar start their campaign next Friday evening. The Dutch second division, the Keuken Kampioen Divisie (in English the Kitchen champions division) mainly play their games on Friday evening. I’ll update this thread every Friday after the game to let you all know how Seagar got on.

Dr. Kucho Posted 17 August, 2018 Posted 17 August, 2018 Today Telstar started their campaign with a 1-0 loss away at RKC Waalwijk, Seagar played the full game.
SuperSAINT Posted 18 August, 2018 Posted 18 August, 2018 Today Telstar started their campaign with a 1-0 loss away at RKC Waalwijk, Seagar played the full game. Where would Telstar be expected to finish?
Dr. Kucho Posted 25 August, 2018 Posted 25 August, 2018 Yesterday Telstar lost 1-0 at home against MVV Maastricht. Seagar started but was subbed in the 69th minute. Telstar usually finish between 8th and 14th, last year they had a exceptionally good season and made it to the first round of the play offs for promotion to the Eredivisie. They lost to the Graafschap who finished 1 place above them.
Gorgiesaint Posted 7 September, 2018 Posted 7 September, 2018 Just scored for Telstar away at FC Dordrecht to make it 2-1. Think that's his 1st league goal for them.
Gorgiesaint Posted 7 September, 2018 Posted 7 September, 2018 Finished 4-1 to Telstar, Seager scored the third Telstar goal as well.
Dr. Kucho Posted 7 September, 2018 Posted 7 September, 2018 Just to get an impression what kind of level the match was, this is the own goal Dordrecht scored.
waylander Posted 7 September, 2018 Posted 7 September, 2018 Just to get an impression what kind of level the match was, this is the own goal Dordrecht scored. Sign that man up immediately!
Useful Idiot Posted 7 September, 2018 Posted 7 September, 2018 Just to get an impression what kind of level the match was, this is the own goal Dordrecht scored. That is an excellent finish, placed it past the keeper with power and precision.
ericofarabia Posted 8 September, 2018 Posted 8 September, 2018 That is an excellent finish, placed it past the keeper with power and precision. Just as well Benteke hadn't seen that before we played Palace!! Would have needed a Pele v Banks quality save to keep it out!!
Dusic Posted 24 March, 2020 Posted 24 March, 2020 Now on loan at Frome Town. Can't get regular games in the Conference with Yeovil. Shows how hard the transition is from age group Academy football to life down the leagues. He always seemed a natural finisher, if not the most athletic, so suprised he didn't do well at Yeovil.

Got a bad injury which played a part.
egg Posted 24 March, 2020 Posted 24 March, 2020 Got a bad injury which played a part. The injury was horrendous. Had a spell at Havant and Waterlooville in the conference south recently and he couldn't get a game there. Real shame, a lovely lad by all accounts and talented, but it just hasn't worked out for him.

Yeah, or a horrific ligament injury...
