With Amazon Fire TV, do I need to buy a 'jailbroken' version? Or can just buy the standard off the shelf box and install Kodi?

Is the Amazon Fire TV better than the Stick for quality of stream etc?

i purchased a MXQ box, hard wired in although wireless was working ok, added the sportmania add on and paid for 6 months all working well tonight. Could not of done the install without the video but got there in the end. These android boxes are amazing

I've just got a Fire TV stick myself, and it allowed me to sideload the app 'behind the scenes''

check this out.

Adding Sportsmania is another step, but not too fiddly. Pretty flawless to be honest, will be interesting to see how it works on a match day in a few weeks.

How much did you pay, and where from?

Would you recommend it?

Have you added on Tom's Skin to SportsMania? Looks good and gives access to all the next add-ons

The Sportsmania site has been revamped so the Kodi connection isn't working until Sports mania uninstalled on Kodi then re-installed from scratch from the new SM site. Video on the home page gives complete instructions. When Kodi initially failed I tried the live stream on the SM site which was much better than the old site and worked perfectly.

So what are the advantages of a Sportsmania subscription when you can get free content from a host of other sources?

Is it more stable, better quality etc?

Yeah a lot more stable, better quality, you can watch PPV's either live or whenever you want as they record most of them and put them in Video on Demand.

I've tried a lot over the years, offsidestreams my most recent attempt. It works 'ok', but it's jumpy, unreliable, sometimes you don't get streams. It has been bogged with problems for ages.

I actually set this up last night through my amazon fire stick and had it on my TV (sky sports 1). It was just in the background all night, I forgot it was actually running through sportsmania as it didn't drop once, and the quality was true 1080p HD. Very impressive, and it will be interesting to see how it performs on a match day. I'm going to try tonight's game via Sportsmania to see how that runs.

I've been very impressed with Sportsmania so far - the communal dish at home is playing up a bit so a few of my Sky Sports HD channels aren't available through the dish, so having that as a backup solution is ideal.

Worth bearing in mind, though, that you probably won't be streaming Sky Sports in full 1080p because I'm pretty sure they don't actually broadcast at that frame rate - it's 1080i (still!).

What's up with these geeks? Apple TV 3 still not jail broken is a disgrace.

Not much point, Apple TVs were crap at running XMBC even on Gotham, the ATV2 I stopped using about a year ago and now sits under the TV doing nothing is a hunk of garbage which never failed to buffer or crash anything resembling even 720p or with a lot of movement onscreen.

Assume ATV3 has a better processor and HD, but even so, the ATV2 put me right off using it.

Got mine from ebay

Everything was already set up but had to add on sportmania, so far I would recommend it. If it continues to work as well as it has so far I may well get rid of sky and bt sports, if need be I will just buy another box for the other room.

I've signed up to SM and watch streams on my Samsung smart TV through the TV's web app. Is this the best method? I have an apple TV and a PC upstairs (currently an old PC running XP, but getting a new Win10 desktop soon).

They do broadcast streams at (or close to) 60fps, Astrosport 1 HD seems to run at this and it looks good. Resolution is below 720p though, and bitrate significantly lower than broadcast.

Overall good service though.

Fair point. but the quality wasn't far changed from TV tbh. Let's hope this lasts because I could save myself a bucket load on a sky sub..

The only thing that will stop Willow is if the big suppliers sky and virgin ban his Web address, but he has 5 or 6 backups bought and paid for so he can be up and running very quickly so we will not miss out. Join his fb group and he will answer any questions you have. Also you get to give Mancs and Scousers a bit of ribbing.

Which one is his FB page? Seems to be a lot of Sportsmanias

Watched the entire Villa game and like yesterday, flawless, very little difference - if any - to watching it on sky. The quality is insanely good, no buffering, no skipping. Best football streaming service I've found.

I watch on my Samsung smart tv too. Can't think of a better way of watching it personally although I had the P**pey game on the pc in the background the other night while I was answering emails etc. Always great steam quality and there seems to be plenty of Saints fans on there.

I am beginning to get a bit concerned that Sports Mania is losing its "underground" status and is becoming really rather popular on a national scale. Willow even seems to have a team of staff working for him now.

I do fear this will go the same way as Al Jazeera Sport last season, which was similarly excellent, and far too big a threat to SKY to go unnoticed.

Yep. Sadly this will not last the season. There are threads on lots of other clubs forums. The hatchet man will be sharpening his axe I fear. In contrast to this I belong to an F1 archives torrent site and by comparison they keep things very, very low-key for fear of being shut-down. I had to beg for an invite on reddit and had to delete all traces of posts made on there after I was granted access. This is the only way to keep things on the low-down.

Enjoy it whilst it lasts is my take on it.

what a fkin ****ty website. First of all it crashed, then it kept taking me around in a loop to login, now I'm logged in I get a 404 error when trying to access the streams.

They have a new page your link needs to be updated try http://sportsmania.eu as a link only

Well I finally decided today is the day I'm going to buy Sportsmania and their website crashed as I clicked to pay.

Join the Facebook page and contact Willow Wilo he will sort you out

I decided to buy 6 months worth, now wish i hadn't, as the poorly written webpage eats all the resources on your computer, so it can't play the stream smoothly.... also seems that they are also too oversubscribed. May try the Kodi add in next time and hope for better.

At times the site was down during the game.

Watched a perfect BT Sport stream today on laptop via Kodi and Sportsmania using temp wifi whilst sat outside my caravan in the South of France. Kinda wish I hadn't bothered...

I took the leap and went for the Amazon Fire TV box this morning. It's £64 in Argos atm, rather than the £79 full price.

Set it up with Kodi and linked in the SM add on. Picture is brilliant. Stream seems far more stable than running directly off the website on my laptop and feeding it to my TV with HDMI. Going to trial this for a few weeks, but looks like Sky Sports is going to be cancelled soon enough.

Massive thanks to everyone that gave advice and answered my questions :)

Well I got my mxbc or whatever it is and I must say in struggling to work out how to use it. Managed to get some porn on today and I've added sportamania and got that working. How do you know what Chanel your team is on on match day? Does it list what matches are on what channels?

Tried loads of other stuff from you tube advise but none work lol

Added movie 25 as it said this was to replace mash up

Added it ok but no programs in the libraries . Probably something I have done!?

I'm not sure how else you get links to games. All a bit of a headake. Maybe I'll get the hang of it

To see what game is on what channel... log in to the website, go to More > Calendar and check out the channels listed for the event you want. For example, Liverpool's game tonight is on: SS1 Germany, SS1, CTH 2, NBC SN, SN World Football.

So you have plenty of channels to pick from. Reason he did this was to give you a few options if you weren't happy with one stream or another. It was easier for sure when the games were listed and just had Link 1, Link 2 etc etc but it is what it is.

Does anyone simply use an Apple digital AV adapter from iPad to HDTV?

If not why not.

Interested to know if this is the way I should go before splashing the cash.

SM been behaving well for me so far this season, no complaints.
