Not sure... See post 202 :)

Edit: yes, it is on NBC

Looks like they're showing the Arsenal game

I've got Kodi with Vdubt25, Turks TV and Halow and I can't find the Saints game yet.

I reloaded Vdubt25 and it worked, though the game isn's listed on there... well, not yet, anyway

yeah, I had a little trouble with Vdubt25. I disabled and re-enabled it. Still can't see the game though. Finger crossed it pops up soon.

As I am feeling lazy and cannot be bothered to try and fin the right post on this thread.

I have downloaded Kodi....do I need to download any addons to watch the game, or will it just be there as a choice?

You will be lucky to organise this in time. For sports mania you need to go to sportsmania.eu and pay. Then there is the installation procedure (5 minutes) described here:

Had a rush of blood to the head and bought this this afternoon:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331392087073?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Am not exactly tech savvy but am looking to lose Sky Sports and Sky Movies which cost an absolute fortune really.

Intend to download Genesis when I get the kit and also subscribe to Sports Mania - unless there's any free options.

Any tips or tricks gratefully received.

I started on CTH1 and ok but in SD I moved to Astro01 which was in HD but just kept buffering TSN1 was the same and so I ended with TSN5 which was fine but in SD again. I use a very fast Lenovo W540 laptop and the 152 mbps Virgin connection

Hi, my mate has just got a mx box. He said it was really easy to watch Newcastle but the stream was not great like on TV but was watchable

Is that because he has rubbish Internet and not bt infinity but the slow one.

Or is it because the box is not what you are advising?

I just want a nice picture and hassle free as you can probably tell I'm no it genius!!

Thanks mate I appreciate the help

Yes it will.

However, a word of caution to anyone getting either an MX android/openELEC, Kindle Fire or indeed a Raspberry Pi to run Kodi. It isn't a nice user interface. Once you get the hang of it its a breeze. I am into my tech and it took me a few hours to really get to grips with it.

That said, if you are up for doing some youtube research and watching a few videos it will all become very familiar very quickly... just don't expect it to be like an iphone. Put it another way.. my mum can use her iphone and can switch on her laptop and fire up Chrome.... she wouldn't have a f**king clue with kodi or any of the devices that run it.

Don't be put off... youtube is full of excellent videos and sportsmania even has a video on how to setup their addon.

Important things to note:

The box you buy doesn't really matter. MX boxes can run Android and a form of linux called (openELEC). Kindle Fire I'm not sure about and Raspberry Pi can run openELEC and OSMC.

I personally favour openELEC as its linux and is very fast.

Then you have Kodi which is open source software formerly called XBMC which was the media player developed for the XBOX 1 (believe it or not).

You then have repos which is short for repositories. These are generally XML files contained inside ZIP files that are links to the streaming content such as films and t.v. shows.

Inside the repos are addons. It is these addons which you add in order to browse the streaming content available.

I only have an addon called Genesis installed (already mentioned by someone else). It has all the films and t.v. shows like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad etc.

I also have the sportsmania addon installed (formerly sportsnationhd) for the football.

That's all I use and all I have installed.

You need a little USB keyboard to interface with the box.

This is the kind of youtube video that will help you understand this better than I can explain it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qh3ijoO1rMg

Hope this helps someone as I was clueless when I first got into this. I purchased a pre-installed MX android device to begin with. It was all setup and just needed an hdmi cable. This is a good way to get into it. I have since graduated to custom installs onto a Pi and it really is quite easy once you have a go.

Me too. I have around 6.50Mbps download speed. Sometimes I can get a good HD stream but it may stutter now and again. Is this down to my speed or the feed? I've read that 8Mbps is required for HD streaming. Is this correct?

I can generally stream a 720p movie with no problems (maybe the occasional slight stutter) but of course, that's a not a 'live' feed.

I'll upgrade to Fibre for the speed increase but if it's all about the feed then that'll be a waste of money.

Anyone know the info on this?

I'm not that tech savy when it comes to internet speed, networks, routers and all that stuff.

I have the super fast 150 MB Virgin (I work from home) but I have a lot of things connected, my workstation, Son's PS3 / PC gaming, all the mobile devices (phones, tablets etc). I still get the odd bit of buffering on sportsmania but on the whole I get to see what I want. Over the weekend I watched the United game (no issues at all), I watched the Saints game (a few stutters in second half) and some of the Stoke game (switched it off because it was sh*t - but no issues).

It will come down to connection speed at some point. Ask yourselves what is connected to your internet. You might be amazed at all the devices clamouring for space on your connection.

As a test try and watch some HD content from iPlayer. If that plays fine then tbh your connection is good. However, note that the infrastructure of the BBC is always going to be way ahead of anything that a dodgy streaming site can provide. It's like the old test for checking your download speeds... back in the day to test a connection IT people used to download iTunes from Apple because they are renowned for having rock solid infrastructure.

I can feel where the frustration for some users comes from though.. people posting they have rock solid performance and crystal clear HD with no buffering would make me question my equipment.

As for the MX box... I broke mine trying to be clever and flash the operating system. It was delivered with OpenELEC installed but I changed it to run Android and then I wanted to go back to OpenELEC because Android was using too much memory. Anyway, I broke it and changed to a Raspberry Pi2 which I have to say I think works better. Some of the MX boxes are getting a bit old now and the hardware is a little slow compared to newer tech. I will conclude by saying I had no probs watching anything on the MX box I had.. I'd still have it if I hadn't broken it :)

I was looking at Raspberry Pi thing and they all look like do-it-yourself circuit board kits, the kind of thing a CB radio enthusiast would buy. I don't have a soldering iron and don't want to build anything. Is there a ready to use one?

I have this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/J-Bonest%C2%AE-Multimedia-Broadcast-Wireless-Keyboard/dp/B00S89MUWG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1439321956&sr=8-3&keywords=mx3+android+tv+box

most top film/tv apps are already loaded. Just have to watch the Sportsmania youtube thing to install that. Takes about 5 mins or so

as you can see on the link, there are loads to chose from.

Nice one, cheers TDD. I'll have a look at it. I used to mainly use Sportsmania on my phone but the no-Android rule has killed me, my old S4 can't handle Kodi without keeling over, so have decided to move to TV instead. That looks like it will do nicely. Missus will probably think it is porn machine.

The no android rule?

Last season they had an Android streams section and you picked the matches. Perfect for a busy guy on the move like me who wants to watch the game on his phone while doing other things like sorting the kids out, cooking tea or masterbating.

They've taken that functionality away now. Interestingly the helpful admin guy said it was because "people were stealing the streams". Because those guys at Sportsmania believe stealing content is wrong.

Anyway, his advice was Kodi and some other stuff I either couldn't understand or my phone couldn't cope with. I've given up so will look at exciting TV based boxes instead.

I have an old laptop, something that will run Windows 7 (freely upgraded now to Windows 10). If it's got some form of HDMI out along with sound then that's it. Stream from Sportsmania.eu from the laptop (luckly close to the router so 150Mb+ download from Virgin Media) and jobs a good un.

I'm available for consultancy and set up :D
