saint1977 Posted 12 March, 2015 Share Posted 12 March, 2015 Is his "attitude" a real issue? Every time i see him play he puts in a real shift, whatever level he's been at and he has shown that he has the quality as well. He was superb against United a few weeks back, despite a pretty lonely existence up front on his own (which also made me think he could fit our set-up as the lone front man, something i had previously wondered about). Whenever you see him interviewed i also think he comes across quite well - quite grounded given where he's come from and generally pretty happy to have got where he has. I think he'd be a good signing for us and as i say, think his attitude might be a bit of a myth Allegedly disruptive at Swindon but probably matured with age like most of us do. Agree with those that think we'd struggle to get him for less than £15m though. Long, although a great lad, wasn't the best use of £12m I've ever seen. Mind you, still great value next to Osvaldo or Gaston!

david in sweden Posted 12 March, 2015 Share Posted 12 March, 2015 McCormack cost £11m to move from one Championship club to another, I don't think he's even played in the Prem. Talk of Jordan Rhodes costing £12m to move from Champ club to Champ club, on the proviso of promotion. Again, no Premier League experience. To say Austin, one of the top scorers in the league at a team like QPR whilst also with the English player premium, would be lucky to go for £6m seems a little silly. Ye, I know comparing fees like for like is utterly daft and I do hate it. But I felt it needed highlighting at this point. ....in which case, I will undoubtedly be proven wrong ..... david in sweden Posted 12 March, 2015 Share Posted 12 March, 2015 Long, in hindsight, was a terrible signing. On a 4 year deal with decent wages and its hard to see a time he will be a first choice for us. If someone came in with £7m or more I would let him go this summer and let Koeman get someone in that he rates. I think it's unfair to say " terrible ", but more like desperate (on our part). It's obvious that for a club like Hull ...it was an offer they couldn't refuse, but without JayRod and only Pellé as a striker we had to have back-up. However, after Pellés brilliant start, Long didn't get a look-in, and it was unfortunate that (Long's) injury came ...at the same time as Pellé s drop in form. I do think he is a much better player than we've had the chance to see (so far) ....and would like to see him get (at least) 30 mins. at Stamford Bridge. lloydie Posted 12 March, 2015 Share Posted 12 March, 2015 Possibly. Ultimately though, if it is a case of Toby out and Caulker in I'd be a tad disappointed. Think we are likely to be weaker in CB squad wise, as I doubt Toby will stay and we aren't going to get better, but think that gap can be smaller than if Caulker came in. If that makes sense? Basically, I think we can do better. I'd go along with that, Bruno Martins Indi maybe? Touted on here a few times even though he only moved this summer. If we were in with a chance of him we'd probably have landed him already. Who knows though, stranger things have happened.
Restark19 Posted 12 March, 2015 Share Posted 12 March, 2015 Or our £10m keeper. I don't understand the FF hate on here. £10 million is a great price for a Keeper who is only 26, has proved himself at CL level and is still improving. Plus he's an improvement on Boruc. Saint_clark Posted 12 March, 2015 Share Posted 12 March, 2015 Where's this talk about attitude problems come from? I've not seen anything to suggest that tbh.
Golden Balls Posted 12 March, 2015 Share Posted 12 March, 2015 Would love us to sign him. Hasn't he rejected us before?
IOWSaintDaz Posted 12 March, 2015 Share Posted 12 March, 2015 Should of signed home from Swindon.....was prolific for them back in those league one/championship days and could of saved us a few bob if we'd gone for him then, now his price will be higher but still would be a great signing giving Pelle a run for his place
Mr Saints Posted 12 March, 2015 Share Posted 12 March, 2015 It's a signing that would tick a lot of Les Reed's boxes. English, good age, good attitude and so on. Would like to see it happen.
Twiggy Posted 12 March, 2015 Share Posted 12 March, 2015 So does he have a good attitude or a bad attitude? As both are being put forward by posters... Or do people have no idea as per? Personally I think he'd be a great signing!

Personally I think he'd be a great signing! Haven't heard many stories of fights with other players or his manager so he can't be "Dani bad"
