Saint-Armstrong Posted 11 March, 2015 Share Posted 11 March, 2015 (edited) Didn't someone mention some sort of story about the grandson of Markus and the club? I'm asking because on Instagram's news feed it has flagged up that a lot of Saints players are liking photos posted publicly by someone who is seemingly one of the Liebherr family - either a nephew or grandson of Markus - and they are posting photos of the squad in Switzerland and of themselves at Staplewood. The profile says they're a Southampton fan, but they're from Switzerland and to my eyes look more than a tad like our current owner. I'm guessing but is this the guy mentioned? - And what was the story about the grandson, I forget? Maybe we'll have a Dave Whelan situation on our hands. I remember someone on here mentioning Markus' brother and his son out in Southampton, maybe this is them instead. Hopefully, whoever it was, can clarify. Lallana's Left Peg Posted 11 March, 2015 Share Posted 11 March, 2015 Why? I don't understand why they would. Because whilst you and I may have no desire whatsoever to send messages to a Liebherr family member there are lots and lots of stupid Saints fans (not unique to us, football in general is a sport for morons on the whole) who will take the opportunity to hassle this chap by sending him messages on his Instagram feed. Oh I wasn't blaming you directly for bringing it to our attention - it would have been discovered eventually one way or another! But either way I've taken a look and given his other pictures he clearly has the opportunity to enjoy some of the nicer things in life so it wouldn't surprise me if he was a family member. Saint Rees Posted 11 March, 2015 Share Posted 11 March, 2015 I remember watching a stream of an away game, I think it was last season, where they zoomed in on Kat sat next to who I assume is this lad. doubt he is Kat's son but obviously a family member, her nephew perhaps? I saw the instagram posts - he traveled to Switzerland with the club and posted a photo of him with a large group of the first team dressed as though they were on a night out
ART Posted 11 March, 2015 Share Posted 11 March, 2015 I posted on the subject several times after a lad attended a number of games along with Katharine. I raised the question whether or not he may be her son and perhaps it was wrong to address her as Ms Liebherr. The Swiss are very open minded on unmarried women with children. As the family re quite numerous it could be a nephew or any of the younger generation of Liebherrs

If you just want to share photos with friends, well there's facebook that's a lot more private. I doubt he'll be too upset at getting lots of comments on his pictures. Fitzhugh Fella Posted 11 March, 2015 Share Posted 11 March, 2015 It is Ms Liebherr's son, he spent some time training with the Academy lads last autumn and he has become a bit of a fan I am led to believe.

Coxford_lou Posted 11 March, 2015 Share Posted 11 March, 2015 The Swiss are very open minded on unmarried women with children. What has open mindedness got to do with a woman having a child? Or marriage even? I think you should revise the statement to say: The Swiss, like the Brits, have women who have children.

I think his point is that there is a certain stigma to unwed teenage single mothers in this country that maybe doesn't exist over there. It's art though so he could literally mean anything. Have you not read the Daily Mail?! My points was, by needing to reference Swiss open mindedness in the first place, you're creating an implied moral undertone. Small point though...carry on! Not that it makes any much difference but teenage pregnancies in Switzerland are fairly uncommon, probably at least 10 times as uncommon as in the UK I'd think; Your average continental european teenage girl does not get knocked up easily. I know it's about a ratio of 4/1 UK/France and about 6/1 UK/Germany . Edited 11 March, 2015 by Window Cleaner

ART Posted 11 March, 2015 Share Posted 11 March, 2015 Shall we say, in today's world, it makes cents for a multi-billion heiress to produce a son and heir to the family fortune, without encountering the obvious risk of marrying someone whose ambition is financial rather than romance.
