Lucky (for me) the Ashes start tonight. So I will take comfort in the pain of Spurs fans, and the rest of your miserable English mob, getting trounced on the cricket pitch.

Very interested now to see what RK says. Total faith in the man but cant help but feel he got hung out to dry! Also interested to see the fall out when details come to light inc why our CFO left!! We got shat on basically because we kept stating how much we wanted him! Lots of sugar coating to come I imagine! Only way to dampen in is with another top class CB acquisition.

out of interest, how many games did he miss through injury last season?

A lot. And I think we actually got more points per game without him?

Class player though, gutted to not get him and for him to end up at Spurs of all teams.

Not sure how quickly we will move to identify new targets, by all accounts we assumed he was signing. Big test for the club now - must be well behind in our pre season planning with only 2-3 weeks before our first competitive game.

The thing about this which doesn't make sense is why Atletico only seemed willing to do a deal with Spurs? If we were able to pay what was acceptable, and with a relationship already there due to the loan and option to buy agreement, why does it look like we didn't get a sniff and why would that be in their interest?

The only potential criticism is around whether we did enough over the course of the season once it became clear that we and nobody else where going to get him for 6.8M or whatever the agreed amount was.

At least it's over and we (that's the club and fans) can move on.

Maybe not, I wonder what compensation we will be getting assuming the contract with AM was all correct, £4-5m maybe?

I'm guessing that was the players decision.

Oh well, time to move on.

Hope we have been speaking with other options whilst this has been going on, think we need to make a bit of a statement with the calibre of Toby's replacement.

Bugger oh well move on hopefully we can get Morgan out the door for a nice big wedge and get on with building the team for next season. After last summer I've got used to players ****ing off hell this one wasn't even ours. I assume we are still getting our money from Madrid?

Ha true. I think we all know he's going to go eventually though' date=' right?[/quote']

It won't stop the utter meltdowns when it becomes obvious though. Let's just hope we can avoid a bit of a PR disaster and not announce that today/tomorrow!

My faith in the club management has taken a severe dent.

As it is clear that you had no faith in the first place, there was nothing to dent and you're just posting bolhocks, which of course comes as a great surprise.

I'm not sure if he will have felt so strongly about not joining us to instruct Madrid not to respond to us? According to us, he was more than happy to join.

So, what on earth was this legal right stuff about then?

Did we mess up?

Mess up ...probably not, Legal right....We didn't pay them 8 million euros so we didn't have any. You never, ever own anything at all until you've paid for it. We may have "owned" a right to buy though.

Could Alderweireld have played us a bit throughout this? Koeman etc?

It's possible, though I'd like to think Koeman and Reed have been around long enough and have enough ears to the ground to work out things properly.

Journo's on twitter saying Saints messed this up. Hard to substantiate but it feels like we dropped the ball here.

F*ck off Toby

F*ck off A.Madrid

And mainly, f*ck off Tottenham. Can't they ever come up with anything on their own? Masters of copying what they see elsewhere, and not quite making it work. Hope his hamstring goes on the first day of the season.

How can anyone get upset by Morgan leaving we all know he is gone? As long as we get good money to get a replacement or two can't see the issue.

That's the only thing which really makes any sense in terms of how we seem to have been completely sidelined by Atletico.
