alpine_saint Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Aw, come on. Its done. Whats with all the denial ? Face facts, the club have dropped an almighty b*llock with a deal that quite clearly isnt worth the paper its written on.
Shance Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Has anyone stopped to think that maybe Toby would rather play for Spurs?
alpine_saint Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Never mind, we signed a pub team defender today...
mulletsaint Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 this is a complete ++++up. all the talk of being a well run club is down the swanny in my opinion. I think letting Toby go is just the type of crap that will rile Ron no end and add or probably negate any chance of him staying beyond his contract. Im sick after all the self congratulates i have heard after last summer that Less Reed could let this happen. I would far preferred we didnt even try and get him as he obviously (if he goes to spurs) is a complete knob head. The club need to buy Van Dyke from Celtic quick. I doubt they can do that as they wont offer enough money. Im completely fed up with all this sustainable talk coming from the club. It is not sustainable to weaken the team so others can catch up and all the players want to leave given any chance they get. To keep us sustainable we need to keep improving the signings. West Ham will improve over the next 5 years, Everton will keep on doing what they do. I expect i will get a load of flack off this forum for throwing the baby out of with the bath water and i hope i am completely wrong.I really hope I am wrong. I just want us to pull of another Kevin Keegan, i just want us to **** Spurs and liverpool.and Arsenal. I just want our young players to want to stay at the club longer than 1 season in the first team. I just want to win something not celebrate 7th. I want the club to strengthen in Jan if we are looking good like last season. I want Ralf to bring some friggin money in!!!! I want cheaper tickets, I want us to adopt Sailing as an anthem at St Marys. Im fed up and i hold the club responsible - Les Reed - Ralf Kruger and Kat. Stop all our staff leaving - pay them the money to stay. Paul mitchel had obviously down loaded all our targets, that legal officer who went obviously cocked up on Tobys contract. All the bull**** i hear 'thank you southampton, thank you' then they are off- its utter crap. Only a few players deserve to be sung, Fonte is one of them, yosheda is another maybe long maybe bertrand, . Big Vic is itching to leave we need to tie him down and buy Claise and Cabaye. we need to do this to keep Ron happy he is the only honest one amongst them all. He says it like it is. He will work his contact and then go to Barca or Holland. If the club are not going to spend money on players then cut the ticket price simple. If my local cafe is not going to serve top restaurant food they cut the price and serve the full english and the place is packed with everyone happy. **** **** **** Crikey, Alpine better up his ante or he's gonna lose top spot in the Saintsweb most histrionic poster league.
ErwinK1961 Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Never mind, we signed a pub team defender today... Give it a rest mate, seriously.
Saint_Ash Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 He probably is going to go to Spurs but lets wait until it's official and hopefully a bit more insight into what's happened before crying about what the club have or haven't done wrong. From what has come out so far it seems Atletico Madrid are at fault here but if the club haven't done something they should have then we should hear about it as well.
Saint Charlie Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Does this person work for Spurs or AM? Neither, but a v good source on Belgian players usually.

We allowed it to happen. If we'd offered enough earlier Spurs wouldnt have had a chance to step in.
Saint_Ash Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Never mind, we signed a pub team defender today... Wahhhhh Wahhhhhh!
St Marco Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 If we were that interested, why did we wait until the 11th hour to submit a bid knowing we run the risk of losing him or paying more. People can blame TA/AM/Spurs all they want, we messed up. I been in NY for the past month so not really kept up with the whole Toby thing. But skimming through this is what I don't understand either. Why did we wait until the contract/agreement was about to expire? We should of paid the agreed amount the moment the window opened. You can't blame Spurs for wanting to buy a player who is available. We should of had it done and dusted ages ago. If we had an agreement to buy the player before a set deadline (when it expired) and we didn't then we ****ed up.
alpine_saint Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Crikey, Alpine better up his ante or he's gonna lose top spot in the Saintsweb most histrionic poster league. come on, the post is clearly a p*ss-take. that second paragraph is too OTT.
Saint_Ash Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 B*llocks. We allowed it to happen. If we'd offered enough earlier Spurs wouldnt have had a chance to step in. You have no clue as to what is happening do you? I'm surprised you're not castigating the club for not buying him outright last season instead of loaning him, stupid club and their lack of foresight!
thorpie the sinner Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 IF he has signed for Spurs, my only thought is why we let RK say what he said at a press conference, they must have known! Makes RK look like he isn't being kept up to speed and a bit amateurish! The one thing RK isn't is an amateur! Still until we get confirmation, it is still a big IF

Verbal Kint Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 B*llocks. We allowed it to happen. If we'd offered enough earlier Spurs wouldnt have had a chance to step in. Don't be so bloody naive. TA and Atletico will have known for weeks and probably months about Spurs' interest. If TA has preferred to sign for Spurs all along then there is very little we can do
alpine_saint Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 You have no clue as to what is happening do you? I'm surprised you're not castigating the club for not buying him outright last season instead of loaning him, stupid club and their lack of foresight! Pathetic excuse-making.
COMEONYOUREDS Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 I'm pretty confident we did try and for one reason or another it wasn't possible. The main reason probably that he knew from his mates at spurs they wanted to sign him, and he'd rather play for them. But oh no, must be Les and Ralph's fault
Saint_Ash Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Pathetic excuse-making. Excuse making for what. I'm say you have no clue as to what is happening yet are bawling your eyes out about the situation. Why don't you try and relax and stop making yourself look like a half-wit, don't forget Toby wasn't even our player in the first place.
buctootim Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Neither, but a v good source on Belgian players usually. Ive no idea whether its accurate or not - bit if you look at the guys history mot of what he says is rehashed from other people. Claes says nothing happening atm (or at least he did last night).

Oh well, it was good having him for a season.

Dig Dig Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Has anyone stopped to think that maybe Toby would rather play for Spurs? I think it's been muted a few times but many people like to take things which Toby has said like he'd be happy to play for Saints as gospel that he wouldn't be interested in playing elsewhere which is clearly nonsense. Not to mention that Toby has always added a caveat that any deal would be "difficult" and it's not necessarily up to him. You would think that we should have been in the driving seat for this deal from day one but we lost control of the situation and looked to have missed out on a top quality player at a good price which is a shame.
angelman Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Never mind, we signed a pub team defender today... Are you a Southampton supporter?

buctootim Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 None of us know what the machinations are. Even if we saw the contract we still wouldn't know how it would be interpreted under English law, under Spanish law, by the PL and by UEFA. Agree with Dig Dig, you would have expected we would be in pole to sign him so its disappointing if we dont. It doesnt mean someone is necessarily to blame.
jasonb Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 They agreed to a worthless deal. They havent made the club attractive enough. They haven't offered enough money you mean?* *to the player or Atletico.
Saint Matty 76 Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 @HotspurRelated The agent of Toby Alderweireld has said there currently isn't an agreement in place with anyone. #THFC

Saint_Ash Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 I would love us to sign Toby now just to shut Al***** Saint up, not because I want him!

sotonist Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 They agreed to a worthless deal. They havent made the club attractive enough. it's not necessarily worthless. it could be worth the increase in value of the player since we had him. it just looks like it's worth a lot less than we hoped it would be and unless the club are satisfied on balance to play for compensation rather than secure the player by playing AM's game, then if he signs for tottenham it will certainly look like the club made a mistake in both the original contract negotiations and subsequently in clinging to that agreement.
jasonb Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 Never mind, we signed a pub team defender today... Are you a Southampton supporter? I would say he is although he doesn't half love the negative aspects of being a Saints supporter and he also seems to really enjoy being obnoxious and melodramatic. I give him 10 out of 10 for commitment though.

Yep, it's not about attaching blame as none of us are in a position to do so but if he does go to Spurs it will be disappointing. Nothing more.
COMEONYOUREDS Posted 7 July, 2015 Posted 7 July, 2015 They agreed to a worthless deal. They havent made the club attractive enough. How do you propose they make the club more attractive than Spurs? No matter how much you want to kid yourself, we never will be a more attractive proposition than them.
