Lallana's Left Peg Posted 9 March, 2015 Share Posted 9 March, 2015 We're so good in midfield now I actually think we could get away with a poacher type striker in the team for several games, even if the Hernandez link is very far fetched.
Window Cleaner Posted 9 March, 2015 Share Posted 9 March, 2015 (edited) Get it done! He won't deign to sign for us, we're not of a sufficient standard for him, same as we weren't last summer. Plus he'll want a whole lot more than we seem to think fitting for a top player (if he's even that any more) 60K a week must be just about his pocket money. When we decide to pay 80-100K a week to players we may get some "stars", until then Pellè and Tadic you're up. VectisSaint Posted 9 March, 2015 Share Posted 9 March, 2015 Reading these stories sometimes makes you feel like you are in a time warp. Really can't see Chicharito swapping Real Madrid/Manure for little old Saints. Still, good to know that Ron is regretting not signing a striker in January, but then as we know from the forum experts none were available, so he should not be regretting something that was impossible. I bet he could name one or two that were available, but that would probably not satisfy some on here.

Few wouldn't but I think he's out of our price range on the salary front. Unless of course a year in the stands at Real have taught him some humility since he rejected us out of hand, doubt that though.
SaintTex Posted 9 March, 2015 Share Posted 9 March, 2015 12 La Liga matches appearances : 1 start | 11 of the bench 209 minutes this season. (Matt Targett has more EPL minutes this season) I don't think the guy really wants to play. He knew he would only get table scraps if he moved to RM, but he went anyway. Manuel Posted 9 March, 2015 Share Posted 9 March, 2015 I doubt it too to be honest. He has had a good deal of bench time though, for a talented player. He's also been earning loads for years now. I'm wondering if he just fancies a game of football?

Status obviously counts more to him than playing time, he thinks he's a top class act but now he's been cast aside by 2 managers who probably want more effort than he's capable of giving. saint lard Posted 9 March, 2015 Share Posted 9 March, 2015 Yes, we're completely up **** creek right now. Hanging onto the league by our finger nails. Well,we are lamentable and impotent in front of goal and Koeman seems unable to rectify this......mainly due to not seeing what everyone else could see.......we are wasting a fine chance to really surprise people and progress. When all the odds were against us. It's doubly disappointing. Our season will soon be forgotten by finishing possibly 7th. But hey.....we were always happy finishing 2nd with Adkins. If Derby can, can't we make him an offer? Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County and Norwich want Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes, 25, on loan for the rest of the season. At the start of the season, we were considered relegation candidates. Now we are a side looking at European qualification. He should consider us now. (Sun - subscription required) FFS, every season. There is an "Emergency Loan" window between transfer windows for Football League clubs for short-term domestic loans. Premier League clubs cannot sign loan players outside of the two transfer windows, with the exception of cases where they are hit by a severe number of injuries and with the permission of other clubs in the league (this is effectively if a club doesn't have any fit goalies they can borrow one for a bit). The only transfers PL clubs can make is the signing of free agents, however there is also a deadline for this.
eelpie Posted 10 March, 2015 Share Posted 10 March, 2015 We do have a good goal scorer already on our books. He also manages SFC.
JonnyOldBoy Posted 10 March, 2015 Share Posted 10 March, 2015 He is a poor striker value-for-money-wise..... We already pay average players way to much to not score goals so ffs ... if we are going to pay big bucks then it has to be for a proven goal scorer with good ratio stats... not some part-timer who has not played much football in the last 2-3 seasons really.... Yes he is a "poacher" and yes he can come on and influence results occasionally but we need something more solid than that.... we sold Rickie and his slippers to Liverhampton and we never replaced him.... thats what we need....
