Bearsy - help!

Would it help if we spent the next two days debating the definition of "BANTER AND LIGHT HEARTED CHAT" ??! ;)

Seriously Jeff, I'm done. I don't mean to be rude, but my points have been made, I have nothing left to contribute.

I find it strange how narrow minded someone who is so progressive in their thinking is. Either that, or you do it to annoy people. It seems you are the troll a number of us have been discussing you were.

Please put me on ignore, as you will be going on my list - that's a very select group you find yourself with - Glasgow, Barry Sanchez, Dune and Alpine.

Fine, if you think tha GYTOFTL is more damaging to women than porn, then that's your opinion. Personally, I think we're creating a generation of children, mainly men, who will spend their time disrespecting women more due to watching that, rather than a few numbskulls shouting stupid, irreverent chants. But as I said, that's your opinion.

Really Jeff, there is nothing new here. Men have been disrespecting women for thousands of years. Back in the biblical days we couldn't handle menstruation (some still cant). Women are unclea. Women "force" us to do things to them that make us feel guilty because we cant control ourselves. It goes on and on.

Porn has been available for pretty much as long as Mankind could draw and make images. I agree that it is more widely available than ever, If your argument rang true surely sexism would be on the rise too? It seems to be in decline to me. At least more and more people now see that it is not acceptable in this day and age.

It is about what is appropriate. Many, many men look at pornography but do not rape women, do not chant GYTOFTL and treat women with respect. I think in most families nowdays, both the men and the women go out to work. many men are managed by women. We know that mother-in-law jokes died out in the 70s and we know why. There has never been more explicit sex on TV as there is now yet the rape figures have not gone through the roof.

in 2015 no man in a western society can say that he has not been exposed to the arguments about equality and does not know why it is not acceptable to treat another human being as an object for gratification.

Singing GYTOFTL is not acceptable in todays society. Why? Because we have had this debate a million times (along with other discriminatory stuff) and society agrees that it is not right. Much in the way that you could air Love They Neighbour or Alf Garnett nowadays. The debate has moved on although some have missed the point I grant you.

The kind of porn you describe is something else entirely. There are laws about stuff that goes way beyond what most reasonable people would find acceptable and people are prosecuted regularly for producing images that transcend what society currently sees as acceptable. I am not sure if the average bloke singing GYTOFTL would look at that stuff, but I could be wrong.

I don't think I have ever debated anything with you Sue, even under previous usernames, so personally I won't cast aspersions on your character or on what you have written in the past.

I've got to get back to my stripping (paint with a hot air gun), so at least Bearsy will get something out of this thread..

It was meant to be a light-hearted humorous thread until _you_ came along, effing and ****ing, to try and turn it back to your agenda. Some porn is inappropriate, so is singing GYTOFTL and so is your behaviour here. I'm not equating the three, in case you were wanting to start a straw-man argument, but you don't seem to have any judgement of the wheres and whens.

Jeff, I don't know you and I don't know Lou but find it a little odd that a clique of you should get together and decide that someone who comes on and discusses the problems about sexism is a troll and should be ignored. I am a bloke but I have to say I find your defence of Ched Evans and GYTOFTL chants as light hearted banter by some numbskulls misses the point by a country mile.

I think I am done with this discussion too. How you can say a crass show like Take Me Out causes more damage than GYTOFTL and obscene chanting (remember when Victoria Beckham got a volley about her taking it up the b*m? Oh how we all laughed - I bet the Beckhams still tell that tale over the dinner table and chuckle) is beyond me.

First of all, thank you for replying to me, at length, in reference to what I have written. At least we can debate this now.

It is the more extreme porn I am talking about, and it is something that I think society needs to treat very carefully.

I think the amount of threads on sexism over the last 6 months or so have, whether intentionally or not, made it seem like sexism is on the increase. As Lou said, most women suffer from regular sexism which can often get nasty of intimidating. This to me says there must be an increase.

Well, I certainly wouldn't have laughed at the Beckham chant.

The point is the audience. Not many people will hear the GYTOFTL chant, especially directed at women ( this is mainly shouted at fat blokes at football), whereas there is are a massive number of people who watch Take me Out, which as you say is crass, and is most certainly sexist.

Bearsy, you're allowing this thread to be taken over! Where's the jokes?! Where's Bletch, and Tokyo?! How can you sit idly by, when TMS is being taken over by SERIOUS discussion? It's not on!

I'm v.business today. Beltch has been in hiding since he got caught doing a phone scam in the computers forum. Tokyos is still trying to find out who impregnated his wife. We Can't Help You!

I'm sorry Brian, all I wanted was an answer from Lou on some points she had made.

Sorry for disrespecting your sanctuary.

I quite like the idea that a group of you convene to discuss new threats that may come onto SaintsWeb. Presumably one of these is hypo, right?

It's a bit like when the old optimates used to get together to discuss potential tyrants. But not much.

Ah cool. For a moment there I felt a mild disturbance in the Force, as if a few attention seekers suddenly cried out in vain.

Thanks for setting me straight.

Its more that you get pis sy when you cant grasp the issues - just as with the loss of social mobility and working class access to HE discussion. Glasgow, Barry Sanchez, Dune and Alpine can at least understand the arguments.

Too late for that! There can be no peace!

As I understand it, the crux of the feminist argument, is that Lou wants everyone to agree with her. Whereas, in the blue corner, Jeff has put forward the argument, that he wants everyone to agree with him.

Ok I am with you on extreme porn. I would also agree that the fact that basic porn is so accessible nowdays isn't great.

If you were to use topless models in your argument (as in sending a message to men that any fit woman is up for it) instead of Take Me Out I would agree. I think that Page 3 and the like has done more damage to feminism than basic porn and Take Me Out.

I don't know if sexism is on the increase. Talking from my own experience I don't hear much of it. Even in the pub any "sexist" banter is ironic nowadays and we all seem to know where to draw the line. Whether it is an the increase or whether more women are prepared to speak out against it and not put up with it I don't know. Certainly more women are prepared to come forward and report sexual harassment and assaults to the police and that can only be a good thing.

The main thing is that we agree that women and other groups of people should be respected and if there are any GYTOFTL chants then it would be good if the rest of the crowd booed those chanting.

We all like to have a bit of fun and any red blooded bloke likes to look at fit women and likes to flirt. There is a boundary though and that needs to be respected.

The birds on babestation have started fingering themselves. I watched it the other night. They was fingering themselves. It started off when it first come out that it was just one babestation channel, and it was boobs only. Then they got two channels. Then on one channel, the bird removed her pants, so the other bird had to remove her pants too, or she would not get any calls. Then they added third channel. Then one bird started fingering herself, and now, when i watched it the other night, all three birds was fingering themselves.

So your argument is something about the bird's hand being in the bush?

ha yeah i spose lot of bros have it mute in case wife wakes up. I did phone up one time: you get two choices, press one to talk to bird, or press two to listen into conversation she is having with some other bro. I pressed two :(

How's your maths going on your car leasing? Let me know when you're done and we can review it.

I also seem to remember it was you that threw your toys out the pram, by just randomly calling me a ****wit or something similar, because i suggested that people going to uni should understand how a student loan works or something like that..? I guess that's a proportionate reaction.

I have to say I don't remember the loss of social mobility thread.

First of all I got banned, more revisionism there is see. Do you like lying or something, seems to be something you enjoy?

You called me a fückwit cos you couldn't read the car thread properly, and you didn't like getting owned on that discussion.

I think if you look at my posts, I never run from a discussion, unlike yourself, but then you do come across as that type, fair weather, little bit soft...

Why don't you go back to ignoring me, was much more fun on this forum without it.

To be fair, I don't actually care if people agree with me, I have my opinions and I am happy to debate them. My main issue was that although there is some sexist abuse at football, there are far more types of abuse that need to be stamped out first, due to them being more common, ie homophobic, fatist, diasablist etc, and that not all people take offence in the same way. Anyway, not really important now is it...

I think they should all be sorted out at once in all honesty, have a zero tolerance of abuse...or only leave it for really bad situations, like the abuse to the Physio, Hillsborough/Munich chants, Wenger chants etc.
