Rupert Lowe August 2004: "It's a results driven business"

Rupert Lowe December 2008: one win from 13 at home, 9 goals, manager not sacked

Hypocrisy: the new perfume from Rupert Lowe

I was about to make exactly the same point, using the same quote, but you've put it better than I would have done!

Please Mr Lowe show some integrity & some sense & leave Southampton Football club. You wanted all the accolades for the stadium & cup final & none of the responsibility for relegation.

Your shares were purchased from income derived from relegating Southampton Football Club. Do the honourable thing & leave us - for good.

Concentrate on WH Ireland & your other interests please, please, please.

Happy 2009

Thanks for trying.

There will always be people who find fault in what you are trying to do. My advice is keep your head down and steady the ship as best possible. Make the hard decisions and try to balance getting the books straight and staying in the Championship. Don't cut the cloth too tight.

Alternatively leave and let the club sink without a viable alternative (ps. they'll still blame you for that too - basically you're ****ed either way)

out of interest do you really believe this? or are are you just fishing for bites? ala scooby

the highlighted bit is exactly the reason he has to go, he may have balanced the books slightly but at the cost of leaving us no hope of staying in this league!

Not fishing. In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king - and I don't see a viable alternative to Rupert Lowe.

Whoever runs Saints has a difficult job to do. For example, we could retain Rasiak / John et al., play 442 and stay up by 9 points (remember, they were here last year) - then go into Administration and get relegated through a points deduction.

We aren't relegated yet, we're not even close, there are 20 games to go.

I hope we survive both on the pitch and off the pitch, and I think Lowe leaving makes both LESS likely. Doubtless it will be close though.

Good reasoned reply, I am more then willing to stand up and admit I got it Wrong about Lowes methods, If we do by some miracle stay up but i just don't see it happening. If we do stay up I can't see many people admitting they were wrong about Lowes appointment and financial skills to be honest

Correct. Because his lack of interest in actually building an ambitious, successful team will kill us next season if not this one. I'd still want him gone. And what possible motivation is there for ST holders to renew if we scrape home after 46 games that have averaged out as shiite performances ?

although I'd admit I was wrong about some aspects, I'd still want him gone as well. We are a rudderless ship under Lowe but if we stay up he will be claiming all the glory, if Lowe survives this turbulent season he will be back indefinitely I fear

Indeed. We may survive this season (I dont think so and it is looking increasingly unlikely), but even if we do, is that enough ? We have no chance of moving on from CCC survival struggles under a board unwilling to put their money in and incapable of attracting the money of others.

We will back at square one over the summer. Do we have no ambition ? If the club has no ambition, it is no more than a social club for certain fans, and it might as well be dead.

The two things are mutually exclusive though, only after survival can come the ambition.

It is in Lowe's interest for Saints to do well (ego, financially, "I told you so" etc.) and he stands to gain most by getting us back to the Premiership.

I have absolutely no problem with us getting rid of Lowe, but it needs to be done with a strategy and an alternative, not because he's not liked.

My personal opinion is that the survival strategy is the only game in town at the moment and that getting rid of Lowe/JP now (at this stage in a crucial season) would hinder rather than help that.

What no one knows (because there is so much spin/counter spin) is how ambitious Lowe is being in cutting the cloth? Say, for example, if he is aiming to break even in 1 year, rather than 3 years - if so, is he taking more risks with player quality etc. than we need to?

Either way it is going to be a long hard season but I've seen promise in some of the performances this season, hopefully enough to enable us to stay up.

many of us did in exactly those circumstances last year

Just as we close out 2008 we have the most ridiculous reason of the year for retaining Lowe...
Yeah its like saying i had this girl and got syphilis, so i thought i would try someone else (wilde) and got crabs! So i'm thinking to myself , i dont like crabs i much prefer syphilis so i,m going back to the girl who gave it to me as i know were i stand with her! HTH ;) Edited by SOTONS EAST SIDE

Be a good chap and feck off. Go play with Wilde in some far flung land or Channel island, and don't darken our doorstep again, you evil, ignorant, pompous ****. Please tak your third rate Dutch coaches with you as well, they are nice boysh but have no business working in a professional league.

Thanks

PS - if you could take the picture of the ruddy train and shove it up your arse before you leave that would be much appreciated. That will enable us to replace the picture of someone who actually did some good at this club.

loving this and in total agreement!!!

My message was on 5live

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00g48tv/606_28 _12_2008/.

listen at 53mins 26secs

Glad I heard that. Although we don't get talked about on the national media anywhere near as much as in the good old days [just 5 years ago], at least pundits and commentators like Alan Green are aware of where we've been, and where we are most certainly going. It may not cut much ice with a scouser, like Green, but he is infinitely more aware how much a club's success, or lack of it, means to a supporter, than RL. And that's something, at least.

So if Lowe and JP go tomorrow, as so many fans seem to want. What happens to the club?

...we are ****ed surely?

I don't understand this want of the fans to churn through boardrooms and managers...has this ever worked for us in the past?!
