Bearsy Posted 8 March, 2015 Share Posted 8 March, 2015 B - not sure if this is your usual tongue in cheek comment or not? But why on earth would a £10M bid from Spuds be appealing to AM? They would have to pay a 1.5M buyout, which on top of say a rounded figure of 7M for permanent deal is 8.5M. Surely Saints would pay an additional 1.5M to keep him, and Tony would want to stay for regular footy, which is no guarantee at Spurs? Maybe it's just me??? I'm not sure we'll get our £1.5m. If I was Atletico, I'd accept Saints £7m bid, safe in the knowledge that Toby's agent will protect my interests, and nature will take it's course. sotonist Posted 8 March, 2015 Share Posted 8 March, 2015 back on the subject of plausibility that tottenham players would leave for us. looking through their transfer history, i got bored before I found any evidence of their better players leaving for anyone but a top two side. that might be because they are a big club or it might be because they have always been well funded. we might hope to get the same benefit now in terms of players not leaving for tottenham (sadly alderwiereld isn't our player), but i wouldn't expect any of tottenham's better players to break the mould and sign for us unless tottenham have had the financial rug pulled out. Saint Charlie Posted 8 March, 2015 Share Posted 8 March, 2015 http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9750146/toby-alderweireld-unsure-of-southampton-future-and-predicts-hectic-summer As you would expect he is keeping his options open. Will only sign for us if nothing better comes up, and you would expect something will - lack of good centre backs around at the moment and he would be relatively cheap for a player of that calibre/age/character. Patrick Bateman Posted 8 March, 2015 Share Posted 8 March, 2015 Someone needs to have a word in this guy's ear, let him know that he'll f**k up majestically at another club. No seriously, as I've (and others) have said, amazing, very talented player, technically brilliant; we have been lucky to have him this year, would be amazed if we kept him! GGalpin Posted 8 March, 2015 Share Posted 8 March, 2015 He'll surely get offers that would dwarf both Spurs and Saints' offers, the guy is class.
