VectisSaint Posted 6 March, 2015 Posted 6 March, 2015 I think its great we are doing team bonding stuff, but given our recent record with injuries could we have picked too more dangerous activities then ice hockey and skiing?! They could have taken them to Pamplona or sent them cliff diving or bog snorkelling. Horse riding is supposed to be the most dangerous sport in terms of deaths. By the way its "two" not too.
Goatboy Posted 6 March, 2015 Posted 6 March, 2015 I ski. In fact it's where my poster name comes from. Sorry Bill Hicks fans. I have never had a skiing injury. I have, however, wrecked my knee falling up the stairs at home. Looks like they are having fun.
mrfahaji Posted 6 March, 2015 Posted 6 March, 2015 I think most injuries in skiing happen when someone crashes into you or by going to ski parks and doing jumps. I expect the players are skiing in a slightly more controlled environment, not just mixing it on the slopes with random holidaymakers. Hope so anyway. I know it's possible that players could run into each other, or someone could fall awkwardly, but I think once you take stupidity (from strangers or themselves) out of the equation it's probably no more dangerous than football training.
Lets B Avenue Posted 6 March, 2015 Posted 6 March, 2015 Fraser Forster out in the snow and blazing sun light without eye protection will definitely improve hiss eye sight. Can't believe some of the risks being taken. Surely those in charge should have prepared the players. March Hare.
ART Posted 6 March, 2015 Posted 6 March, 2015 After tweeting JWP this morning about Forster not wearing sun glasses I delighted to see them posting a photo of Forster now wearing them.
Bearsy Posted 6 March, 2015 Posted 6 March, 2015 After tweeting JWP this morning about Forster not wearing sun glasses I delighted to see them posting a photo of Forster now wearing them. Thanks Art. That's a load off.
Mowgli Posted 6 March, 2015 Posted 6 March, 2015 After tweeting JWP this morning about Forster not wearing sun glasses I delighted to see them posting a photo of Forster now wearing them. I assume this is a joke as the glasses are clearly on Forsters head - just lifted for the camera which is not unusual. Otherwise, it must have given JWP a good laugh.....

Golac's Iron Gonads Posted 6 March, 2015 Posted 6 March, 2015 Clyne should be allowed to wear those goggles during games, it'd be like having one of the X-men at full back and would certainly put the sheet up Hazard in a couple of week's time.
Alain Perrin Posted 6 March, 2015 Posted 6 March, 2015 Fonte - Head injury after camera pierced his helmet on the ice. Ouch. Makes your eyes water.....
S-Clarke Posted 6 March, 2015 Posted 6 March, 2015 Seeing Jay out there is amazing. (I'm pretty sure it was him!)

washsaint Posted 7 March, 2015 Posted 7 March, 2015 Great stuff and should be fantastic for the bonding of the team. Looks like they are having a great time.
The9 Posted 7 March, 2015 Posted 7 March, 2015 I've been slightly worried about the dangerous sports aspect of this, haven't they all got clauses in their contracts specifically prohibiting exactly this kind of thing? Not to mention the bloody coaches veering up and down icy precipices to and from the airport.

Don't worry the ROW know how to live in ice and snow..........and why were the team coaches veering up and down???? they must have been on the bus
Goatboy Posted 7 March, 2015 Posted 7 March, 2015 I don't think you would see any other Premier league team doing this and therefore, I'm in.
CamberwellSaint Posted 7 March, 2015 Posted 7 March, 2015 Seeing Jay out there is amazing. (I'm pretty sure it was him!) That's exactly what I thought. He was with the others at the ice hockey (in the photos) but I'm assuming he didn't join in. However, isn't that him in the skiing video at 1:55? If so, he can't be that far off returning to training, at least? Here's hoping. Even if he was only ready for a sub appearance or 2 before the end of the season, the lift for the team as a whole, and the option to replace Pelle for a spell could be a real difference.

As long as it's not at The Etihad on the last day of the season, definitely a bad omen.

S-Clarke Posted 7 March, 2015 Posted 7 March, 2015 Shes' well involved in it all, good to see. Hopefully she stuffed a nice new meaty contract up Morgans sleeve when she was picking him up.
Coxford_lou Posted 7 March, 2015 Posted 7 March, 2015 (edited) 80, 81, 115, 126, 127 Oh yes, so she is! I'm such a big Katharina fan girl. Edited 8 March, 2015 by Coxford_lou
whelk Posted 8 March, 2015 Posted 8 March, 2015 80, 81, 115, 126, 127 That must have taken some time.. I had a quick whizz through and was just looking for a bright pink ski suit.
whelk Posted 8 March, 2015 Posted 8 March, 2015 Oh yes, so she is! I'm such a big Katerina fan girl. Does that include knowing her name?
david in sweden Posted 8 March, 2015 Posted 8 March, 2015 Seeing Jay out there is amazing. (I'm pretty sure it was him!) .....especially when you consider who the team personnel were when he last played a match...was a good chance to mix more and think about his future plans.

Not to mention the bloody coaches veering up and down icy precipices to and from the airport. The whole point of these exercises apart from the more obvious bonding opportunity is to push players way beyond their comfort zone and to take risks that normally they would not take to prove to them that they can do things that normally they would be scared of doing, that the only thing to fear is fear itself, fear of not knowing. Few if any of the players appear to have been on ice skates or skis before and probably like you would be scared of falling over, getting hurt or making a right tit of themselves in front of their pals. They have taken unusual risks mainly not to lose face - safety in numbers - and have come out of it intact physically and with pride. Nobody feels like a tit, in fact many will glow with pride. The have proved to themselves that after all they could do things they never thought they could. Highly motivational and expect a reaction against Chelsea. PS ...and OK wags, they'll all fall flat on their Arses in the penalty area! Just joking.
Coxford_lou Posted 8 March, 2015 Posted 8 March, 2015 Does that include knowing her name? Corrected. Spent so much time on Alderweireld and Djuricic that other names suffered.

whelk Posted 8 March, 2015 Posted 8 March, 2015 Corrected. Spent so much time on Alderweireld and Djuricic that other names suffered. I don't know why be struggle with al-der-vair-reld I struggle with Djuricic - is it jer-rah-titch?
hypochondriac Posted 8 March, 2015 Posted 8 March, 2015 Clyne was smashing it in parfait last night till 4 so he is literally back in Southampton with a bang. Had six girls on his arm telling them all his name was Nathaniel. .
Bearsy Posted 8 March, 2015 Posted 8 March, 2015 I struggle with Djuricic - is it jer-rah-titch? It's pronounced like Jew Riches
iansums Posted 8 March, 2015 Posted 8 March, 2015 80, 81, 115, 126, 127 You can see her helping Clyne and Morgan to their feet by holding their arms, with a bit of a twist no doubt with the nee contracts in mind.
ART Posted 8 March, 2015 Posted 8 March, 2015 What happened to Day 3 and the horse riding Koeman tweeted about?
S-Clarke Posted 8 March, 2015 Posted 8 March, 2015 What happened to Day 3 and the horse riding Koeman tweeted about? Maybe the last 2 days were more than enough ART, what with all the broken ankles and legs they're suffering with atm.
Window Cleaner Posted 8 March, 2015 Posted 8 March, 2015 Shes' well involved in it all, good to see. Hopefully she stuffed a nice new meaty contract up Morgans sleeve when she was picking him up. Surprised at an Alsatian being such a poor skier actually,
