Strange place to go for a break. No skiing, no snowboarding, just fondue and the odd schnapps.

Disagree; they have to spend time together due to limited activity options and will improve their communication

Certainly done wonders for you on here...

Send them to the Big Brother house then. At least it would be warm for Elia.

Anyone know what they've actually gone away for and how long? Couple of days team building stuf or proper training camp for 4 or 5 days?

They're back saturday I think. There for team building and a rest apparently

rewarded for being out of the cup eh.

Surely Scarborough would have been more appropriate.

Bet a lot of ours would rather be in Dubai!

You can't make it too cosy or they'll be dropping out of the cup every year.

Cheers, makes sense then as a couple of days away as a team more than anything. Certainly across February and March no-one can complain about us having too many games to play.

Koeman said it is purely for team building, not training. They'll be back at the weekend and then have a week of training to get ready for Chelsea.

Possibly worth having a separate thread for snippets from the Switzerland trip.... Koeman just posted this group shot....

I saw this on twitter earlier - who's wearing the orange goggles?

I really do hope there is no skiing or snowboarding as can you imagine the furore should a serious injury be picked up.

Shows how well we're doing this season. There have been plenty of seasons in the past where we'd have been hoping most of the team were doing black runs wearing blindfolds. Imagine the outpouring of joy if Jermaine Wright had skied over a cliff...

Or falling off bar stools.

I feel a bit sorry for them, tbh. We got back from a 5 day break in Iceland last thursday, it was horrific. Never been so elated to leave a country since hong kong 20 years ago. Its not even as if we've got any geordies in the team is it, they could have gone somewhere warm.

Curling?

Not even Rupert would have dared suggest such an activity to the players. Can see a few broken arms, legs and half the squad returning in plaster.

Could they do the saunas and rolling in the snow to freshen up and energize them?

Would have made no difference, Burley would still have played him, probably as striker.

You do know that Iceland and Switzerland are quite a long way away from each other. Daughter and her mates were in Iceland end January and they thought it was absolutely brilliant, best holiday ever. I guess if you go there hoping to lie on a beach you might be disappointed. Its currently -3 in Davos, sounds wonderful to me, amazed at how many people think relaxing means lying on a beach, recipe for total boredom in my view.

You would expect Ralph to be able to skate and at least hit a puck.

Likewise, most Dutch people are good on ice skates.

I regard myself as a fairly proficient skier. But anything on ice skates scares me to death.

In the call of duty, I was once press-ganged into trying ice hockey. Believe me, trying to swing a stick to hit a puck while trying to maintain your balance is one of the most difficult things you can do.

The problem is that when you lose your balance on ice, you tend to stick your hands and arms out to break your fall, and you end up with a broken wrist, or broken elbow if that takes the weight of your tumble.

This has "key player (insert name here...........) out for the rest of the season in ill-advised ice hockey-based team-building exercise" all over it.

@RonaldKoeman: Fantastic experience! Shattered

No full stop at the end there. Suspect he pressed send forgetting to put 'my coccyx.' at the end.
