You've only been on these forums since April 2015 and have already had me on ignore? Go me! :D

Anyone with half a brain cell will see the more likely version of events is that your post is based on a previously published national newspaper story... and not rumours from a "friend of a player's wife" who the club happen to be keeping informed of transfer policy. Why are you even trying to maintain this nonsense?

Classic MLG. I've already answered your question. I put you on ignore on a different site and I've done it on this one as well now. Thanks for continuing to be a ****. Xx

Some posters have been saying this for months, and yet he is still here. Strange one

not that strange, the season has just finished and he's still under contract, and no bid accepted.

Apparently Liverpool are going to be putting in another offer for Clyne. I hear we're talking to Burnley about signing Trippier as a replacement.

Burnley must be getting quite busy dealing with Trippier, Spurs, Villa, Liverpool and Bournemouth at least also "in discussions" apparently. I'm sure there are more.

You've been reading the mirror. Stop pretending to be itk ;)

Yeah, I heard this too.

The wife of a player told a friend, who told her friend/lover/husband/colleague, who put it on the previous page of this thread and then I read it using my eyes. MLG said it isn't true however, so now I'm not so sure I can believe my eyes.

Surely Clyne wants more than just to go to Liverpool? Yeah yeah they're a bigger name than us in World football and have a couple of better players, but is that really a step up at the moment? United I could understand as they have Champions League. It can only be a money thing if he goes to Liverpool.

I'd find it quite funny if Liverpool were the only team in for him and he signed a new contract with us instead.

Perhaps you should put me on ignore, I wouldn't bother responding to your nonsense. Are you someone's alias?

Hey MLG I thought it was forum protocol that you had to be on here at least 2 years before we were allowed to put you on ignore ????

Is it not possible to get information from someone ITK and also read about it in a newspaper?

This, absolutely. I don't want to read unreliable info from saint billy, monk, or any of the other genuine itk's unless they've crosschecked it against a newspaper article first.

The problem is, Liverpool have just released glen the skate Johnson, so they've freed up a huge amount in wages. Far more than we can offer.

I have a feeling that he will not sign a new deal but we will not receive an acceptable bid either. I would like to think we would keep him for the final year rather than accept a low-ball bid from the likes of Liverpool. Even if Cedric is joining it would be good to have them both for a year.

As nice of a thought that would be, I don't think Saints are going to let a £12-15m asset depreciate in value at a rate of £1m per month and then walk away. He would 'cost' us £250k a week. I just don't think that will happen - and that is just on a financial level, not looking at the personal dynamics involved. I could be wrong, but I think the club are too pragmatic about these things.

Liverpool love briefing the press and the local rag up there are running a story that a new bid for Clyne is forthcoming' date=' [b']that Clyne wants to join[/b], and Saints are privately resigned to him leaving.

"Want" can be a bit open to interpretation.. He may or may not prepared to join them if they are the only acceptable bidder. But they are not the club he would like to join.

If Clyne was going to sign a contract he would of by now,not saying he won't succeed elsewhere but who that has left us in the last few seasons has gone onto be a huge improvement, none of them Chambers,Lallana,Lovren Shaw and Lambert all jumped ship asap and none of them are starters for there new team,....Bertrand signed for us to play regular football and he ended being the best LB in the prem last season

Bored of this Clyne saga now, wish we would just sell him and bring someone in that wants to be here and that will improve us,because as good as Clyne is he is not irreplaceable and there are some cracking young RB's out there that will be more than keen to play for us

The article states:

Clyne is understood to be keen on a move to Anfield.

They may or may not know this. They may or may not have been asked to publish this. They may or may not have been told this by someone they choose to believe.

Whatever the case, they are saying he would like to join them.

Starting to think the same tbh.

I think his head has been elsewhere for quite a while. Maybe I missed it, but there was no explanation why he was dropped against Hull. And after that, his performances didn't quite seem to be as good as they had been earlier in the season.

If Liverpool are the only team willing to pay 15m I would still reject and just let Clyne run his contract down just because its them but I would do it slyly by saying to them yeah yeah let us get a replacement in first then boom, transfer window shuts in 24 hours and they have to get in a two-bit right back

...or panic re-sign Glen Johnson on a free...

Yes I can. Look I'm not getting into a **** swinging contest with you. I really don't want to put you on ignore again either so just ignore my posts. If you don't believe it, that's fine I have no problem with that, but don't use that as an excuse to derail another thread by belittling people and massaging your own ego. It's boring.

FYI the player doesn't know anything about Liverpools transfer dealings but he's mates with Clyne and all of the players talk out of season. They have these things called phones and some of them even meet up. Believe it or not, the players seem to know far more than you give them credit for but alas you already know this, as you know everything don't you?

And do these phones allow the players to talk to each other or do they still have to communicate by tweeting?

or play Henderson at RB all season. Oh god if only. I hope Les has a malicious streak.

So what do we conclude? Looking to bring in Cedric AND Jenkinson (either on loan, or buy outright for £2M)?

I conclude Cedric is a value signing we're making regardless of Clyne and Clyne's future then dictates other moves like Jenkinson, Byram etc.

there is a massive gulf in talent between jenkinsonand byram. I hope it is jenkinson or trippier personally

I think Jenkinson has some awful games and is prone to collapses in concentration where some bad mistakes are made and I know nothing about Byram.

At this stage I think Cedric, if signed, would be first choice if Clyne leaves and his understudy would be a work in progress. Basically swap Clyne for two players. Which is what I think we'll do with Schneiderlin as well.
