angelman Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Lolsvaldo might fit in well with Lollana and Lolvren.
eddie Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 I'm fairly certain there's a silent L at the start of osvaldo
eddie Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Lolsvaldo might fit in well with Lollana and Lolvren. ah. we seem to have made the same joke. well this is awkward

Saint Charlie Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 The people saying they can't see him wanting to go there are mini Blatters. If they want him, he will go.
Appy Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 The people saying they can't see him wanting to go there are mini Blatters. If they want him, he will go. I agree with your last sentence, but Christ you don't half go over the top.
The9 Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 I agree with your last sentence, but Christ you don't half go over the top. He's a massive bellend, what do you expect?
brett24 Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 The people saying they can't see him wanting to go there are mini Blatters. If they want him, he will go. I don't think he will go, if Arsenal win tomorrow he will sign the new contract by Monday PM.
Lets B Avenue Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Unlike most of the "experts" (or should that read "co cks"?) on here, I have no idea whether he will sign for them, or not. I merely hope he doesn't.
angelman Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Unlike most of the "experts" (or should that read "co cks"?) on here, I have no idea whether he will sign for them, or not. I merely hope he doesn't. I think the saga of JRod's contract, and subsequent statement, should tell people that it's probably best to wait and see what happens. After all, JR was signing for Man City, Liverpool and Spurs.
Donatello Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 I agree with your last sentence, but Christ you don't half go over the top. What the Hell is a mini-Blatter anyway? :S
Batman Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 I think the saga of JRod's contract, and subsequent statement, should tell people that it's probably best to wait and see what happens. After all, JR was signing for Man City, Liverpool and Spurs. agree with that. But we have gone past a couple of 'deadlines' for Clyne and although he says he is happy here, it sure is taking months to sort out. Can't help thinking he is waiting to see who comes in for him. Sadly, i think if liverpool up their offer a little, he will jump at the chance to go there. Other wise, he would have signed by now with us
Saint Charlie Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 What the Hell is a mini-Blatter anyway? :S A delusional. We all hope Clyne stays, but the last time a Saints player turned down a "bigger club" was Kelvin not joining West Ham. Last time a Saint turned down a top club was probably MLT. Will be fantastic if he signs for us, but people saying they "can't see him wanting to join Liverpool" are talking with Saints tinted glasses.
Donatello Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 agree with that. But we have gone past a couple of 'deadlines' for Clyne and although he says he is happy here, it sure is taking months to sort out. Can't help thinking he is waiting to see who comes in for him. Sadly, i think if liverpool up their offer a little, he will jump at the chance to go there. Other wise, he would have signed by now with us Yeah, maybe he's gone (in spite of all the positive interviews (urgh, why give them?!)). So, with that being assumed, what fee do we accept? £10m is a big NO by the looks of it. £12? One more try, please. £14/15m? Sold.

Nolan Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Yeah, maybe he's gone (in spite of all the positive interviews (urgh, why give them?!)). So, with that being assumed, what fee do we accept? £10m is a big NO by the looks of it. £12? One more try, please. £14/15m? Sold. Too low. Schnriderlin and Clyne are two "home grown" players who command a considerable premium. As we have to replace them with other "home grown" Players to have a full squad of 22+ year olds, over the odds will have to be paid.
Batman Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 He has a contract. Why should he be pressured into extending it, or feel beholden to do so? it's how it works. he knows that, we know that or why have we bothered talking to him at all. losing out on millions of pounds is not something a self sustaining, financially sound football club will do. if he does not sign in the next few weeks, we will sell him
angelman Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 it's how it works. he knows that, we know that or why have we bothered talking to him at all. losing out on millions of pounds is not something a self sustaining, financially sound football club will do. if he does not sign in the next few weeks, we will sell him Sorry but you are talking complete ******. It is how the club wants it to work. But if we held Morgan to his contract last season, Clyne can hold the club to his contract this season should he wish. He cannot be sold unless by mutual consent. If he wants to stay with us another season and become a free agent, so be it. That is why there are contracts. You can't pick and choose which aspects you want.
S-Clarke Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Have I just been transported back to last pre-season? Firstly you cannot deny that Liverpool are a bigger club in all senses to us, historically, however I would say at this moment in time, on the playing field - there isn't a massive gap between us. So for one of our players to move to them at this moment in time will be seen as somewhat of a sideways move. I personally don't think Clyne is CL material as yet, but to get to that level I think he's better off staying where he is, signing a new deal and waiting for a big top 4 club to come in - which they will do at some point. Obviously money may talk here, but any of our players moving to Liverpool now would create an incredibly bitter taste for me. At this moment in time I think it's a silly move for him, but whatever, that's just my 2 sents. Let's see what happens. And also, isn't the whole story based on the fact that we have Rejected a bid anyway?
Batman Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Sorry but you are talking complete ******. It is how the club wants it to work. You can't pick and choose which aspects you want. im not picking and choosing anything. almost never does a player worth multi-millions of £££ leaves for free within the premier league. James Milner may be the first in god knows how long, whilst in top condition
Matthew Le God Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Sorry but you are talking complete ******. It is how the club wants it to work. When Saints refused to sell Schneiderlin he still had 3 years left on his contract which gave them some leeway, Clyne only has a year and his value is dropping quickly the closer it gets to the summer of 2016 when it expires. There is a big difference between the two situations.
Saint Charlie Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 im not picking and choosing anything. almost never does a player worth multi-millions of £££ leaves for free within the premier league. James Milner may be the first in god knows how long, whilst in top condition Yep and for Saints, Clyne leaving for free next summer is worse than selling for £15m to Liverpool this summer. Our business model is reliant on selling and replacing, not losing quality players for free.
Batman Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 When Saints refused to sell Schneiderlin he still had 3 years left on his contract which gave them some leeway, Clyne only has a year and his value is dropping quickly the closer it get to the summer of 2016 when it expires. exactly, the club will sell and buy a replacement rather than letting him go for nothing in 12 months and still needing to buy a replacement. not when we are supposed to be self sustaining and all that. it is massive money we are talking about. that has nothing to do with picking and choosing. it is basic football economics for a club outside of of the top 4
S-Clarke Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 In this situation, the player does hold a good % of the cards. We had the power with Lallana, Morgan and Jay to a degree. So if Clyne has said, I want to leave, then the situation is that the club will have to negotiate an acceptable fee in this window. You couldn't let him leave for free, it would be business suicide. But I still hold hope that, as the story states, we rejected the bid. Let's see what happens before this turns into meltdown v2.
rallyboy Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 If we forget the ridiculous amounts we managed to get last summer I would say that £13/14m is pretty decent for Clyne. But let's not give him away. If Liverpool really want him they will go to £15m surely? Either way they can stick their £10m bid right up their Mersey Tunnel.

Matthew Le God Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Let's see what happens before this turns into meltdown v2. If meltdown v2 2015 is any where near as good as meltdown v1 2014 when Liverpool gave us £49m of their Suarez money to close the gap from 28 points in 2013/14 to 2 points in 2014/15 then I'll be delighted!
S-Clarke Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 If we sell him, I hope it is sooner rather than later in the window. hopefully a good replacement is lined up etc. I can see liverpool coming back with a £15m bid myself I'm sure we have plenty of options up our sleeves if he does go. Jammat wouldn't be a bad call. I still think the initial £10m, if as reported, is a bit of a ****-take by Rogers. Is he trying to make himself the most hated person in the City? A guaranteed £15m + ADD-On's up to £20m would be where I'd try and take it. Plus a decent sell on fee, as we have to take into account, that apparently....Palace get 25% of any fee as well (I say apparently, as I read this on some Palace forums, but I imagine they will be due some sell-on)
Saint Charlie Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Would need two RBs I guess as it was the only position (GK aside) that we had poor cover for last season, in that it meant messing with the Toby/Fonte partnership. Also nothing in the U21s in that position that is close to first team quality. If either Targett or Bertrand were two footed it would be a massive help, but players these days rarely are.
The Cat Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 I still think the initial £10m, if as reported, is a bit of a ****-take by Rogers. Is he trying to make himself the most hated person in the City? Is it Rodgers who decides how much to bid? Unlikely.
S-Clarke Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Is it Rodgers who decides how much to bid? Unlikely. Probably not, but a valuation is usually discussed between all parties before a bid is made. But Rogers is still close to becoming the most hated person in this City.

Greenridge Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Simon Peach@SimonPeach·1m1 minute ago #MUFC are no longer interested in signing #SaintsFC right-back @Nathaniel_Clyne, according to PA's man in north west @hirstclass. But I definitely read on here it was a done deal.
Saint Charlie Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Les Reed has already said that they want RB cover for next season. Excellent. Not actually too many positions we need signings IMO. RB cover, forward, GK cover then replacing outgoings or loans.
View From The Top Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 This is what I was told last night regarding Utd. "Parties" had agreed terms etc and it was expected that clubs would reach and amicable agreement. Representatives went back with some extra demands, club lost it's rag with representative and called the whole deal off, representative sacked and club looking elsewhere. Apparently it was LVGs decision saying the player was more interested in money than success. Take it or leave it as you will.

Note, I think it's too low too, *but* I can't see Liverpool improving from £10m to £20m, let alone £25m. I just don't think they would've bid that low to begin with if they envisaged spending £20m or so. My original comment of "sold" was merely a reflection of what I see the club doing/settling for.
View From The Top Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Excellent. Not actually too many positions we need signings IMO. RB cover, forward, GK cover then replacing outgoings or loans. RB & GK are priorities IHMO.

Apparently it was LVGs decision saying the player was more interested in money than success. Take it or leave it as you will. Very plausible. Clearly for Clyne to change agent he was not very happy. Reed and Koeman also started becoming more positive about him staying once the Utd deal fell apart and it seems the Liverpool interest is recent. If Clyne has missed the chance to join Man Utd because of his agent then he will doubtless be pretty hacked off. All the Utd journalists in the national media like McDonnell and Ogden were reporting it as a done deal so something major must have changed.
um pahars Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 their decline will still have them bigger, better and able to pay far more than us. a player to give up £1m a year is a huge ask. More so when getting that money means playing for a huge club (granted, not as great as they once were) where your profile would be increased massively and all the other crap that goes with it. last year, our manager left us for Spurs...they are no where near the size of liverpool All opinion, but don't think there is much between Liverpool and Spurs. Both now living in the shadows of their rivals and shadows of their former selves. Spurs new ground looks amazing and I venture will put them on a par with Liverpool in a few years. They both might push the current top four in future seasons when the benefit of ground redevelopments kicks in, but think for a fair few seaeons they will be also rans (mind you, bigger also rans than us).
Donatello Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 Excellent. Not actually too many positions we need signings IMO. RB cover, forward, GK cover then replacing outgoings or loans. Potentially - GK, RB, RB cover, CB, DM, Winger, AM, FWD. (assumes Clyne, Toby, Schneiderlin, Elia, and Djuricic leave) 4 changes to starting 11, that's quite a lot of change again (....I think).

Dark Munster Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 £25m for Liverpool - £15m for anyone else. Like.
S-Clarke Posted 29 May, 2015 Posted 29 May, 2015 On the face of it Clyne got greedy........... Or the agent got greedy.
