Unbelievable Jeff Posted 25 February, 2015 Posted 25 February, 2015 For me it's Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, as I think it has a good message and ultimately will make everybody really tap their feet and feel happy... ...or if I really want to drag it out, Shine on you Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd. Any good suggestions?

Halo Stickman Posted 26 February, 2015 Posted 26 February, 2015 To answer the OP more seriously, I think Take My Hand by In Tua Nua strikes a suitably doleful funereal chord, if anyone likes that sort of thing.

sadoldgit Posted 26 February, 2015 Posted 26 February, 2015 Always look on the bright side of life. I went to a funeral where they played Gone fishing at the end. Made everyone smile.
John Boy Saint Posted 26 February, 2015 Posted 26 February, 2015 Ever since seeing the opening scenes of Live and Let Die I have always fancied a New Orleans Jazz band playing very somberly then suddenly ramping it up and banging out OWTS at a jolly pace to cheer the place up.

It's a good job you don't live in the UK and intend to have your last service at the local crematorium, Hamilton. I recently helped organise a funeral. We were allotted 30 minutes before they carried the next corpse in. By the time someone reads a eulogy, recites a poem, says a prayer and sings a hymn there isn't enough time left for a medley of the stiff's top 20 all-time favourite hits!

PompeyLass Posted 26 February, 2015 Posted 26 February, 2015 ...or if I really want to drag it out, Shine on you Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd. Any good suggestions? We had that at Gary's as everyone was going in. I haven't a clue what I would have played, it would have to be something that would make people smile though.

ant Posted 26 February, 2015 Posted 26 February, 2015 Muse - Citizen Erased. Seems thematically kinda apt; plus it's probably my favourite song and everybody would have to wait an awkward 7 and a half minutes while it plays. Job done.
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 February, 2015 Posted 26 February, 2015 Eternal Father & Sunset by the Royal Marines When the bugle starts the last post around 2:00 it really wells me up.
scally Posted 26 February, 2015 Posted 26 February, 2015 "Straight to Hell" by The Clash, although the Mrs says I can't do that. Surely it's my choice.
Pancake Posted 26 February, 2015 Posted 26 February, 2015 Wish you were here by Pink Floyd as I go up in flames.

They used In My Life over the closing credits on Not The Nine O'clock News when John Lennon was shot. It caused a tear or two in the SOG household.

I'm not a theist, so we can skip the poem, the prayer, and the hymn. Time for more of my music!
