The 80s were proper ****, don't understand the modern love in for them. Mind you that said going to football was much better back then and i vividly remember waiting outside Rumbelows, or in the sports shop by east street (because they always had solent on), waiting for the saints away score to come in.

I was told today that the bloke who used to be bungle was walking round our Nottingham office giving out sweets. Apparently one of our suppliers use him for promotional work. Pretty tight budgets if they're using a bloke no one has ever heard of who used to dress up as a bear for a living 30 years ago.

Beer 90p a pint

Drink driving was legal

Rape was a bit naughty

No Mcdonalds just Wimpy and Huckleberrys

Pubs shut very early and in the afternoons

Finding a porno was the best thing

Aids was starting to do the rounds

Being gay was still banned

Shops shut on Sundays

Saints were doing ok "Fights at most games"

Hair was big and stupid

Pompey was still a dump full of seamen (sic)

All the kids in the schools were white

Jimmy savile was on TV

Britain made things

Computers games were really bad apart from pacman

You could smoke anywhere on a plane, cinema, pubs in front of kids

I could go on

Beer was 1/6 (7.5p) when I started university in 1968.

When I was at the start of my drinking career, a pub quite near to where I lived served Mild at 10p a pint. Furthermore, one of the locals was a young woman who, in exchange for a couple of cigarettes, was more than happy to take regulars round the back for a blow-job.

These are just two of the reasons why I preferred the 70s.

We've got one on here as well.
