That is too strong. We outplayed Liverpool in most positions - except in front of goal.
Whitey Grandad Posted 23 February, 2015 Share Posted 23 February, 2015 I suspect that £30m is in Switzerland and I think that's fair enough. We've been through all this many times, there's no evidence of any money being taken out, quite the contrary. Let's wait until the next round of accounts are published, shall we? Let's wait until the next round of accounts are published, shall we? Did we ever see those for the year to June 2013 ? Don't remember them at all, probably just missed the 865 page discussion of them though. Next set of accounts will only be up to June 2014 anyway, before most of last summer's horse trading. ART Posted 23 February, 2015 Share Posted 23 February, 2015 I suspect that £30m is in Switzerland and I think that's fair enough. The revaluation of the Swiss Franc 6 weeks ago, will surely have effected our cash flow. Yet, the adverse effect of not taking a gamble and bringing in a striker will likely be disastrous in us finishing well.

Saint_Tony Posted 23 February, 2015 Share Posted 23 February, 2015 Don't think we can keep claiming to be the better team in games, 1 goal in 4 games is simply not good enough. There's nothing to calm down about, we were never really going to last the pace, not with our squad. It's been a great season, whatever happens. We just have to keep plugging away and try and get a Europa spot, we deserve it. I'd happily finish mid-table next season and have a decent run in Europe. We're not miles off being able to compete for a CL spot, but it will be another rebuilding job in the summer when there will be a few departures. Wes Tender Posted 23 February, 2015 Share Posted 23 February, 2015 WC knows this because the never wrong KBilly told him (and the rest of you) so. You don't know this at all. You might be prepared to take the word of an anonymous poster on a fans' website and undoubtedly he has some credence based on other snippets that may have turned out to be accurate. But please excuse my cynicism.

Unbelievable Jeff Posted 24 February, 2015 Author Share Posted 24 February, 2015 And Wanyama..... I don't think we'll lose Wanyama. If we were to lose Schneiderlin and Wanyama then we'd get a combined £50m for them. Could replace them with Clasie for £14m and Alex Song for £11m and then spend £20m on a striker... verlaine1979 Posted 24 February, 2015 Share Posted 24 February, 2015 I see lots of people saying we need to shoot more, but over the past couple of games when we've struggled to score, I don't recall very many opportunities to have a strike at goal being spurned? If you don't have clean strikers of the ball (and Clyne seems to be the only one we've got) there's very little point having a go from thirty yards. Closer than that, we have plenty of shots, but the majority are blocked because we move the ball forward so slowly that most of the time we're attacking against a well set defence on the edge of their box. The problem with our attack is the speed of transition from front to back, not an unwillingness to shoot.
Saint86 Posted 24 February, 2015 Share Posted 24 February, 2015 I personally think it is between us and united for 4th, arsenal will get 3rd. Tottenham and Spurs aren't good enough and have European/cup games to play. Get a settled and full strength starting 11 back soon and sort out the striking and it is there for the taking. Not in my opinion. Irreplaceable if we cannot afford to find or buy others of the same calibre? Yes then they would be. And we have all seen how we suffer without them. The long term disadvantage of their absence has been that we have found it difficult to return to the disciplined shape that we have had for much of this season. Not in my opinion. Perhaps not but that CM partnership is one of the best in the league and the basis of our success. Continuity also matters. If both are leaving, at least, ensure that exits are staggered. When the dust settles, it'll probably be the case that our best players this season were the ones we kept hold of in the summer. I think as the season goes on, the difficulty of replacing players -mindful we've done pretty well in the transfer market- is becoming clearer. Goatboy Posted 24 February, 2015 Share Posted 24 February, 2015 2 years ago nobody on here had heard of Wanyama. Bertrand was considered a poor replacement for Shaw before a ball had been kicked. Players move on. Very, very few are irreplaceable. I'm not saying it will be easy. I'm just not worried about it. Personally i think Harry Reed has done a great job standing in at centre midfield. Which of our cash flow streams will have been affected by Swiss currency movements? I've just run through all of them I can think of and none of them will be in CHF. If you are talking about the ability for our owners to inject additional funds in the future (which is nothing to do with existing cash flow) then I highly doubt sophisticated investors will keep all their wealth invested in just one minor currency. jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 24 February, 2015 Share Posted 24 February, 2015 I agree with those that think we are to slow building attacks. It certainly allows the opposition to retrieve and form a defensive wall which we then dont have the guile to break down. The amount of side wards passing between the defenders is mind numbing at times. That said the attackers are also very static which obviously doesnt give defenders and midfielders much option for an outlet. Teams have naturally worked us out in the second half of the season. However our run in on paper still gives us a fighting chance should we somehow start scoring again.

I think in July we will loose Toby,Nathan,Morgan,Jayrod and maybe even Jose.....I could see Toby, Nathan and Morgan.. If JayRod doesn't see the pitch this season, what do you think he is realistically worth to other teams? Without seeing him play for over a year, he is a huge risk, too many unknowns. I think he stays. He is going to have to show that he still has value and the only way he can do that is play. I know there were rumours last summer, but Fonte seems like a lifer to me. I think by most accounts he has exceed his career expectations. He is the captain of a damn good EPL team right now. I don't see him going. He seems pretty content. simo Posted 25 February, 2015 Share Posted 25 February, 2015 (edited) One of the most sensible things my esteemed friend Jeff has posted , We all need a bit of a reality check yes it was disappointing but firstly we have two very winnable games now where others have fairly hard ones and we have to admit after the summer (I was a major bedwetter) anything above where we finished last season will be bloody outstanding!
