Its really torn you up leaving hasn't it haha

:) Represented LFC and England at the World Cup (this bit I'm childishly bitter about). Great player for us but when he left he went to the team that he loves and has done since a child (not bitter about this bit but would say at best he has a soft spot for and a lot of good memories of SFC).

But yes, yes I'm taking time to get over the-

How many Saint's players in the England squad, oh there are none.

I'm getting there but it's a long road.

Well we have two in the squad so your recovery can now be complete

From watching that, Rickie seems genuinely pleased that we're doing so well which is less than I can say for Lallana. I can kind of forgive Lovren for not really being interested as he was only with us for about 10 months in total, but I don't get the feeling that Lallana actually believes the platitudes he's coming out with.

Either way, hope Rickie gets a great welcome and the other two get told exactly where to go. Not that they'll care anyway.

It was the World Cup though.

Thanks for your support. Much appreciated. Also Simo for trying to toughen me up a bit. It means a lot to me that others are helping me as I go through this period.

I will get there.

Can't be bothered to watch it, why do I want to want to watch a bunch of LFC players talk tripe?

Are you kidding? That was a brilliant clip for weird body language, skwirming awkwardness, tension and strange PR briefings.

And you can't be bothered to watch it? You're missing all the fun.

That would be the Gerrard that handed in a transfer request to move to Chelsea in 2005. Ok he stayed, after the death threats and the improved offer from Liverpool.

This is an excellent point, which always seems to get skimmed over. Gerrard was well up for his big abramovich payday. I don't blame him, why would he stay at the dippers on half the pay, but iirc it wasn't so much death threats against himself as against his family.

WTF?! Must have missed our media campaign and in-house interviews asking Clyne and Fonte to spend 10 mins talking all about Palace

It might have been the case if we signed them both in one transfer window and they returned that very season

Missed the point I see

What was your point?

Fonte and Clyne joining us from Palace three years apart bears no relation at all to those three joining Liverpool within weeks of each other.

A pretty weird story:

That is one of the most interesting football related stories I have read since I started reading football related stories a few years ago. It does raise several questions:

Why didn't Gerrard take his family to Los Angeles a couple of years ago? He was old enough to retire from Liverpool FC then.

Why did Lambert want to take his family back to Liverpool?

Is that a serious question? Clearly his dad would have been killed before he even made it to the airport.

Beware of viewing life in UK as described by the DM.

Oh jeez, double whoosh. We would never do this seriously awkward and cringeworthy vid, even if we hired 3 on the same day

If we signed another Feyenoord player and drew them in our first match in Europe you don't think we would do a feature on that on our site? Even if we didn't sign another Feyenoord player.

Okay then.

Even by your standards you are setting new records for missing the point. You think we would do a 10 min awkward love-in about another club? Ok then.

We don't seem to be doing too badly without all three of them. Would "70 Minute" Lallana walk into our current side? Debatable. I think he would find that he would have to fight for his place and could see him rotated as he is at Liverpool. How many great seasons did he have for us? I can remember constant slaggings on here about his performances.

Still, he has gone. We have a better squad. Time to let go and look forward to given them a spanking and finishing higher in the league.

No I don't think we'd execute it in the same way, and that video is cringeworthy but still have no idea what specific point you were making regarding Clyne and Fonte. What point were you making?

You're quite right. I've studied body language extensively and there are some lovely little snippets in the interview; the defensive folded arms, hands over mouths when answering certain questions, the "pain in the neck" question that Lambert was reticent to answer, etc. The non-verbal communication was much more interesting than what they actually said.

Exactly what you have finally worked out. We would never do this. Sorry if you have not come across jokes before. Going to my seat now, enjoy the match

Except we would do it. If we drew Feyenoord in the Europa League, we'd definitely do it. If we signed three young players from, say, Leeds United and got them in the FA cup we'd do it. We'd do it better than LFC but we'd do it.

We didn't do it for Fonte and Clyne a few weeks ago because they joined three years apart and we've played Palace plenty of times since.

Jokes have to actually work, sunshine.

Sorry its all lost on you and you still dont understand, we would never do this. A 10 min awkward, cheesy, love-in for another club in which players said how much they loved the club and fans from our next competitive game. As part of a week long media campaign by one of those players (AL). But then SFC would not need to do this, having not used the media to get the transfers done and then not been disrepectful about that club in the first place.

You do understand that the Lallana Lovren Lambert transfers - blanket coverage in the media in the summer and the lead in to this game - are different to the sheer boring coincidence that we signed a right back and a centre back from the same club three years apart? A coincidence even commentators in our matches against Palace barely mentioned due to its utter irrelevance.

You do understand that, right? Yes?

If we'd had a similar situation - a competitive match against Feyenoord, say - we'd cover it. We would.

Get it now?

in retrospect....after winning, they may be telling themselves they made the right choice, and see 16 unbroken games as a big step on the way to Euro football.

As for their memories, and or regrets.....

Lambert..surely no Saints' fan with a heart would begrudge him the move back to his home city. (Danny Ings won't be coming to us in the summer, but if HE got the chance to come to SMS in the twilight of his career, I'm sure he'd like a chance-even if it was coming off the bench once in a while).

Rickie may be be sad not getting 90 mins. every week, but at this stage of his career, the odd sub.appearance and scoring an important goal will be a special feeling.

Lovren ..could be on a list pf players who had ONE good season with us and left the club. Liverpool will be the highpoint of his career. End of story.

Lallana.. I think many fans feel a bitterness towards him. For 10 years he's was the epitome of the Academy. First team apps. L1, and the Championship... then the Prem. I think he stated believing in somewhere bigger when he got into England squad.

Clearly Pochettino (who had similar feelings about greatness), and lost his belief in SFC after Cortese left.

MP clearly influenced many of the first team squad to think bigger, and was first to jump ship and these three were first in the lifeboats.

Lallana will progress well at L'pool and ought to be a future captain ahead of that **** Henderson. Adam may have unspoken regrets, but has a 5 year contract to cushion his sorrow and ......his bank balance.
