the saint in winchester Posted 20 February, 2015 Share Posted 20 February, 2015 Always good when a loan player publicly says he wants to stay (see how it's done, Toby! ) However he has hardly kicked a ball for us yet, so things must be bleak back at Benfica. That said, if he makes a contribution to us getting European football, I would be happy to see him stay.
John Boy Saint Posted 20 February, 2015 Share Posted 20 February, 2015 Let's hope he can hack the Prem and has brought his shooting boots with him, after Saganowski I have a cynical view on these on loan foreign Johnnies, play like they are possessed then get a contract and swiftly light a pipe and pull on their slippers!! Anyone recall the Norwich game some years back Skacel and Rasiak (who both often flattered to deceive) played out of their skins, with many comments about them both being prime candidates for a random drugs test after the game: next day both had buggered off on loan. Coxford_lou Posted 20 February, 2015 Share Posted 20 February, 2015 Good for him. Better make himself worth buying. Now I've sussed out how to pronounce his name, I also hope he stays, so it's not a waste of my time. I'm also very good at Alderweireld. That one took me yonks, but now I like to unexpectedly throw into conversations just to show off.

I'd blame pretty much all of that on Whiskey George personally. His preparation in 2007 was just dreadful, starting the season with about 3 defenders on the books and playing BWP instead of Saga most of the time. Saga never lacked effort and went on another small scoring streak under Mark Wotte later on. Skacel and Rasiak were always that good, until George decided to play Skacel at LB and Rasiak on the bench.

I'm not quite sure what jermaine wright had to do to get dropped, then like you say starting the season with hardly any defenders, midfielders playing at full back, really poor centre halves, then spending £1m on Wayne Thomas! When you look at how we've been managed since the Liebherrs came along its incredible to think it's the same club, the previous regimes were a classic example of what not to do. My personal favourite was the game Jermaine played at LB and we lost 3-0 at home to Watford. George just sat there like a lemon and didn't make a sub until the 88th minute. Utterly hopeless. Er, both were shipped out, along with Saga later on, to get them off the payroll, as part of the moving the Titanic deckchairs strategy by Rupes.
