lifeintheslowlane Posted 20 February, 2015 Share Posted 20 February, 2015 I never watch this kind of thing...Masterchef, The Great British Bake Off etc but I'm going to watch this one. I'm not an painter myself...photography is my hands-on art but I do find the artistic process of painting fascinating. I hoping they unearth some genuine talent on this programme...one elgalatarian thing about painting, it brings out the critic in everyone This is a nice illustration of "the process" [video=youtube;qHo-KyNtOnQ]

lifeintheslowlane Posted 23 February, 2015 Author Share Posted 23 February, 2015 (edited) A few look like fish out of water...but they're being asked to paint subject out of their comfort zones so it should soon sort out the genuine talent. stug76 Posted 23 February, 2015 Share Posted 23 February, 2015 I watched it. What struck me was how badly Harry Potter has aged.
lifeintheslowlane Posted 2 March, 2015 Author Share Posted 2 March, 2015 Some strong performances from the self portrait challenge in episode two. Young Claire Parker looks like the front runner at the moment...she seems to have a natural talent which I suppose appeals to most art lovers in that the brain takes a step back to allow instincts to take over. The Glaswegian, Paul Bell did well too.

I think it is a bit unfair. Some artists work better in some mediums than others. Not sure if Warhol would have been any good in oil. Instead of kicking people off perhaps they should judge them all on all of the standards to see who is best across the board.
lifeintheslowlane Posted 10 March, 2015 Author Share Posted 10 March, 2015 Yeah it is unfair but this is TV and rather stupidly they're looking for a Jack or Jill of all trades. Look at most of the top artists throughout the history of art...did anyone say, "Hey Leonardo, that's a cracking landscape"
