there's about to be a thing on soccer saturday after the break about him coming back

"Knowing how well Saints have done now, if you had known that at the time, would you have made a different decision?"

Very long pause, eyes all over the place, before he gave the answer, "no"

I think he was very badly advised and that antagonised us. He was not the first good player to leave us and if he had handled it better we would not really have resented it because we have become accustomed to it. Ricky wrote us a nice letter while Adam tried to engineer a move by using media contacts to grumble and then told Liverpool fans that he wanted to move months before. I hope the fans will forgive him one day.

He's a silly silly boy, he'll regret that the rest of his life. But he's a kid, and sometimes you've got to mess up big time, to learn and become a smarter person. Never burn bridges is my life philosophy.

That said, I'm looking forward to the pantomime atmosphere tomorrow. Wish I had tickets!

He's 26 years old.

He got advice from MLT, but listening to Matt today on that subject, he clearly did things differently afterwards. Sod him

He's older than me and I would never have acted the way he did.

The 'thing' with footballers is that to reach the top then you have to be exceptionally talented, determined and above all ambitious. No offence intended my friend, but if you - like me - lack some or all of those attributes then claiming that you would not have behaved in that way Adam did really doesn't mean very much - because you'd never be in his situation in the first place.

Perhaps the more judgmental on here would do well to remember that in order to judge another man then you must first walk a mile in their (football) boots ...

Luke Shaw, Theo Walcott and Alex Chamberlain have all reached the top, they were ambitious, but they weren't c*nts with it as well.

AOC left poorly as well, the only difference was division.

... and it was soon granted.

What do you think would have happened had the club refused to let AOC go ?

We'll never know. But we didn't. And he didn't act like a c*nt. That's what actually happened, but you can live in a world of hypotheticals if you want.

Lala could have made life a lot easier by handing in a transfer request rather than bleating to the press that he wanted to leave, but that would have meant losing transfer fee % and "loyalty" bonus.

Meanwhile Liverpool were also stirring things up via the press and trying to pressurise us into selling him on the cheap by issuing deadlines and final ultimatums on the fee!!

Who the frigg are they to be issuing deadlines and final ultimatums to us FFS.

Did he? His old man was the cause and advised AOC, but I don't recall anything bad about AOC's behaviour or how he treated us.

Well I agree with you, that's what he probably should have done. However few people willing give up substantial amounts of money when they (or their accountant/agent/wife) can devise any way of avoiding that.

I don't like it but that's the way of the world I'm afraid - indeed I doubt many of his critics on here would do very differently if they found themselves in a similiar situation.

You're younger than 26? Wouldn't have guessed it. But people mature at different rates. If you messed up but then regretted it and learnt from it, I'd cut you some slack.

I don't know Lallana, he might be an utter c*ck, for all I know. But I get the sense he's popular with his ex team mates, and feels a lot of love for Southampton. He made the wrong decision (not for leaving, but for how it was done) and was badly advised, but I can't hate him. He's no John Terry. He's still one of us - a Southampton boy.

Still hope he's humiliated tomorrow with an 8-0 home win though!

incase anyone wants to see

(cause I love standing in front of the tv for 10mins)

Well he seems a bit mixed up about it all. I wonder whether Rodgers will even start him.

All three seem quite downbeat. Lambert lightened up at the end when he thought about the reception the other two are going to get but otherwise they didn't give an impression of being happy with life.

Poor tormented souls. sob ffs

I was wondering that. Doesn't really seem in the right frame of mind at all.

Hope he doesn't play so that we can concentrate on supporting us.

Agree. 3 points is the be all and end all.

Lallana had dreams "of being a one club man" but for "one thing or another it wasn't to be"..... It was "a difficult summer" ...."hindsight is a wonderful thing".

What a c ock

At the time we needed the cash ......Chuck....... and at least he handed in a transfer request

Lallana reckons that a win for them would put them level on points with us. I thought that it would still leave them a point behind us. But then that might have been the situation when the interview was held. I'm glad that Lovren is enjoying himself at Liverpool, despite their fans wishing that they hadn't wasted all that money on him.

No we didn't, which is why we kept turning down paltry 5 million up front rest later based on appearances / caps won / Elvis being seen on the moon /type offers from Arsenal, and they finally gave in and stumped up the whole wedge in one go!!

Theo and Bale yes money was in need. Surman grudgingly moved to keep the club afloat, but not AOC.

Well, I think that Ads certainly got more than a sour reaction today. What was Rodgers doing taking him off during the game? That really can't have been nice for him.

Making him stronger Pap.

I did think that a possibility.

Not sure if it'll work with him, except in a Darth Vader kind of way.

It is Palpatine Rodgers plan. And he needs it.

@SamWallaceIndy: Rodgers says Saints fans' booing Lallana 'disappointing'. 'The programme had nothing about Adam or Rickie in it. I thought that was sad'

big article about Sammy Lee in their programme first match of the season was there ?

He already has control over refereeing decisions. Now he wants control over editorial decisions for our programme?! Mind your own, Brendan.
