'00' Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 Is he any relation to Bob who played full back in the 70s?
thesaint78 Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 Was thinking this morning about how Spurs fans are so excited about having Harry Kane as "one of their own". Of the academy players Saints have produced, are there any who would consider themselves die-hard Saints fans? I think Matt Targett said in an interview recently that he was a Saints fan and McCarthy here says he's a local lad. It's the "supported them as a lad factor" that I think will lead to Kane staying at Spurs for at least another couple of seasons before a move to a bigger club and may also help Saints retain the academy players that we bring through for longer.

Did Drew Surman count? Remember him being a Saints fan.

doddisalegend Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 Well that confused me for a second I read the name as James McCarthy:blush:. Still pleased for the lad look forward to seeing him in the 1st team soon? The saints production line rolls on.
doddisalegend Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 Lol I knew someone would post that up as soon as I read that post........right on time MLG:lol:
23rdSaint Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 McCarthy was in the year below my brother at primary/secondary school. Definitely wasn't a Saints fan then. Glad he's signed a new contract though. Definitely has big potential.

As SuperSAINT has said, Surman definitely is but going further back Steve Moran definitely was/is. Didn't Matt Targett say recently when he signed his new deal that he was a fan? Franny Benali of course, who could forget the You Tube 'shoot the Pompey scum' clip.
saint1977 Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 Channon was as well, think he was taken to a mix of Saints and Swindon games as a kid.
LGTL Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 He went to Hounsdown - Saints fan or not you can't really get anymore local.

Saint Rees Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 He went to Hounsdown - Saints fan or not you can't really get anymore local. Yeah my mate went to school there with him, think he said he was a Liverpool fan or Man U, either way a glory hunter:rolleyes:
Winnersaint Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 Is he any relation to Bob who played full back in the 70s? If he is then get rid. One of the worst defenders I've ever seen!
Dig Dig Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 "Young" defender Bevis Mugabe also signed up. He looks about 35!
The Cat Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 The picture him at Arsenal Youth was the first that came to light. He said that he played for them for a year but was always a Spurs fan. Then the picture of him celebrating a title win was published and I'm not sure if he's responded to that. But he's definitely one of their own.
OldNick Posted 13 February, 2015 Posted 13 February, 2015 Jason is a Liverpool fan, but a great lad,his uncle has Stage door which was Soul Cellars.
