Badger Posted 14 February, 2015 Share Posted 14 February, 2015 Uprising (the chorus), Knights of Cydonia would be better, but it is very good. Problem is that getting an atmosphere going is not aboutplaying music, its about people being in their seats (or standing) 10-15 minutes beforehand and making a lot of noise. But doesn't happen with modern football, people are too busy trying to get another drink of fizzy **** or cardboard burger rather than getting into the ground early to get some atmo going. So the Club, like others play music to try to get something going. The music we play is pretty good (most impressed with the person that got Smoke on the Water included), but in the end no music will ever create an atmosphere (unless we are Liverpool). This is the most significant factor, and a result of the modern all seater staduim. Sitting in the Northam/Kingsland areas with my sons and every game the seats around us are still filling as the teams take to the pitch. I've often gone off down the grumpy old bast^rd route and explained to the lads how this differs from 'when I was their age',people used to queue to get into the ground even on all ticket matches because they needed to get to their preferred viewing place on the terrace in order to get a decent view. And of course there was an atmosphere with people wanting to sing and make a noise. Remember when I was a small boy we'd have to get to the Dell about 1pm for when the gates opened so that we got a decent vantage point in the Chocolate boxes,
The9 Posted 15 February, 2015 Share Posted 15 February, 2015 No music should make the blindest bit of difference to the pre-match atmosphere and frankly I hate all of it. The only thing worse is music after goals.
