10mins prior to Kick Off

Is any club particularly good at getting the atmosphere going before the game? Should they have to. THe ground is still pretty empty 10 mins before kick off.

But I do hate hate that Danger zone song, f****g ****, as is that Steve Bennet bloke, generally annoying.

I think the last song before the team comes out should be a lot better thought out and even some good videos might make a difference.

Not up to the club to create atmosphere but compared to some grounds the current attempts are feeble.

The stadium of light always makes me laugh: the juxtaposition of flat-capped northerners yawning into their bovril and prokofiev as it threatens the blow the tannoy system.

Even the full version of the Skids song, not just the cloying chorus, would be a start at our place...

Imho any club which relies on music to create an atmosphere in their stadium should be relegated to the conference. We didn't need it at the Dell - a proper football ground. You could feel the tension build and then explode as the gladiators entered. We should all rise up and burn the PA - and of course the f***ing children's entertainer.

Do they still play 'When the Red, Red Robin Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin' Along at The Valley?

That struck fear into the hearts of the opposition.

That Fox hunting chant at Leicester always struck me as a good idea, particularly for a team nicknamed the Foxes. What a strange sense of humour those midland folk have.

that bloke that does the chat on the mic is sh1t and sounds like an annoying childrens entertainer........oooh look here's the relay.....wahey the 5 yr old has fallen over....tw4t

and the bloke that does the interviews sounds like a 15 yr old who's moments away from having a crafting shuffle

The new media chap who does the YouTube stuff?

Even some commentary of famous Saints goals through the years would be good.

The last 5mins up up to kick off there is barely a mention of Saints or even football. The #wemarchon video is good, but played too early so loses any impact.

Quite a few ground where they have a signature song it is still playing literally up to kick off, like at Everton.

Stamford Bridge is very common for this- the past two seasons I've gone, I've been reminded plenty of times of 'Drogba's goal in the CL Final' etc etc.

When they play Muse, it kills it dead. Totally sh!t choice. While we're at it, music should NEVER EVER be played after you score a goal. It is an awful thing

Oh which MUSE song is it, love MUSE and they have some pretty epic tunes in their collection!

For evening games Chelsea have started turning off the floodlights and having the stadium in darkness as the players come out barring for the tunnel area being lit up. They can do this as the new LED floodlights can be turned on and off at will and don't need time to warm up like the old type.

We are the only other club in the UK which has LED floodlights and so could do similar.

I hate that Muse song as a pre match anthem, it lacks any kind of tempo or invigoration. Personally I liked Sandstorm by Darude when we used to have that as our walk out music.

Personally I think we should come casually strolling out to this. We'd be the coolest darn club on the south coast, or at least we would be were it not for some lard-headed half wit smacking the back boards of the Northam at 100mph over the top of it.

Safety hazard. With the numpties we have at St Mary's who can't even get to their seats by the time the game kicks off, it would be carnage on the stairways (OK, I was late on Wednesday, but only due to traffic).

Uprising (the chorus), Knights of Cydonia would be better, but it is very good. Problem is that getting an atmosphere going is not aboutplaying music, its about people being in their seats (or standing) 10-15 minutes beforehand and making a lot of noise. But doesn't happen with modern football, people are too busy trying to get another drink of fizzy **** or cardboard burger rather than getting into the ground early to get some atmo going. So the Club, like others play music to try to get something going. The music we play is pretty good (most impressed with the person that got Smoke on the Water included), but in the end no music will ever create an atmosphere (unless we are Liverpool).

And then they play the Liquidator which makes the whole thing sound a mix between a boxing match and a circus exhibition. Don't think it's a great idea, we need a sort of anthem that most of the stadium will sing along to.

I think we've missed a trick installing the LEDs, if you get the right bulbs you can get them to change colour. I think some kind of flashing light display, choreographed to the right music with red and white light could be quite cool before an evening kick off. Maybe then during the match the pitch could be lit up white and the crowd in red. Would look kind of cool I think.

We are really poor at building a pre-match atmosphere - the music generally and #wemarchon video are disjointed, "the saints are coming" intro is badly cut so feels like someone forgot to play it early enough every time and don't get me started on "My Sharona" which is a bizarre choice as it is neither relevant or inspiring but appears to have been a song of choice at SMS since 2006.

I think the main problem is the lack of a song going all around the ground for a decent amount of time. It's okay the Northam crew starting off but it fizzles out by the time it reaches Chapel.

If there was a way to create an intimidating wall of noise before the players come out and during the game like the German fans seem to do it would be great but our polite ripples of applause don't seem to do it.

I guess it comes down to the seating arrangements as discussed in another thread but the PA people need to ramp it up a bit to get the atmosphere going.

We need a Kop end.

The problem is not enough people interested in making noise, nothing else really to it.

This is this only way forward.

Well, either that or extend St. Mary's to 48,000 and reduce prices so that we get all of the proper fans in the stadium.

Those are the solutions to the problems. The club needs to act on it. Now.

Do both. Expand and make the chapel a Kop. The new TV deal means prices should go down, rather than spend the additional money in players its time to expand. the chapel is perfect for a KOp end.

Deffo metal for me (always liked Highway to Hell at the end of the game)

If in relegation trouble I would pick Saxon: Never Surrender

When doing well I'd choose Down: On March The Saints

Gotta be power and teh glory if its Saxon these days :D

Motorhead The Game would be killer as well.

However some WWE guy had it I think in the US??? So we may not be able to.... would be sick though.

Judas Priest some heads are gonna roll could be very good too

Judas priest take on the world could work really well if everyone really got into it too!

Open mind guys, give them a go, you could be surprised :D
