Osvaldo joins Boca Juniors on loan

A surprising number of people were saying the same thing, leaving SMS last night.

Meanwhile the c**t gets another dream move.

I know, I know football isn't real life. But it is really frustrating watching people act in that manner and carry on getting exactly what they want.

Didn't he talk about wanting to play for Boca within about a week of signing?

We probably did, there was talk of character checks in the Adkins days.

Find it hard to see past this being any more than Pochettino signing, he clearly thought he could handle him with their history.

Boca is his 12 th club in 10 years, no-one can handle him, at Espanyol he was obviously in a good phase of his life

but he only stayed about a season and a half there anyway. English football was too intense for him, said so himself.

Aye, don't think anyone could really disagree with you on any of that. 'Cept maybe for Mauricio of summer 2013.

Shame it hasn't worked out, but I don't really see what else can be done except make sure this isn't repeated.

What's baffling is that I can understand why clubs might turn a blind eye for an exceptional player - but he's anything but that.

Well not signing South Americans might be a start, RK doesn't seem to rate them anyway so we might be OK for a while. WGS hated them, had no time for S.Ams whatsoever, pity we'd just paid 3 million odd £ for a duff one.

South Americans who succeed in top class English football are few and far between, for every Aguero and Suarez

there are 3 or 4 no hopers lured by the exceptional salaries on offer.

Yeah, he's good but no where near worth the risk & ultimately the disruption that comes with it.

I dunno if I'd write off all S.Ams entirely, there's plenty of good ones around. We must be due a decent one sometime soon, surely?

Doubt it, they're out of our price range.

I have faith Windows, not so long ago you were warning us the perils of African players, and now we have Mané who is probably one of our better players at the moment. I wouldn't be without him, he's like a good Papa Waigo.

Joking aside, I do get where you are coming from let's just hope we are actually stringent with these checks. I know you like to be a harsh cynic.

Just had a look. Ossie the headbutter has 3 goals from 13 game and Longnaldo has 2 goals from 21 games.

Still both a total waste of good money though. Imagine where we might be if we'd invested the 12 million or so that we paid for Long in obtaining the services of a prolific striker. 26 million £ for 5 goals isn't much of a return.

Could have done with him against west ham, a nutter but managed properly can produce something out of nothing

Easy to say that now, but the reality is that we'd have not looked any more threatening with him on the pitch. The lack of service and lack of speed of play would have still been the issue.

Based on what? one wonder goal against Man city other than that Osvaldo offered next to nothing when he played for us. At Least Long works his tits off when he plays Osvaldo used to play like he was doing the club a favour even turning up.

I could name a few players that ran around the pitch a lot but contributed very little, doesn't mean they're good players. Don't get me wrong, Osvaldo has a screw lose, and possibly shouldn't conmunicate with the team incase of upsetting the ship, but full what I've seen he's a talented lad and westham would hand been a perfect scenario

Again really? after he left us in an interview Osvaldo admitted that he had struggled to adapt to playing in England, describing English football as a "very physical type of game, with really tough tackling" so I doubt he would have been up for a battle with Wham at all. Osvaldo seems to be another player who seems to get better the less he plays.

I really hope we don't sign him, he sounds far from a consumate professional and we don't need a pre-Madonna on the books, certainly not one who will throw a wobbly when lambert gets a game before him, or who is likely to punch lallanaby in the face for not passing the ball... Sounds like a great team player that will fit in with our well bonded and hard working team... nice quality guy.

Also, he doesn't want to be here, and he is 27.... please tell me we are not spending nearly £20m on this guy... I can't believe it and I hope it isn't true!

Saint86, how wise you were...

As someone else asked........anyone know how long is contract is???

He's with us for another two seasons after the completion of the current season.

far too long.....thanks to Pochettino.....think it was until 2017 :scared:

Thanks so the worst case is we haven't paid his wages and leaves on a free......best case we get some of the transfer fee if we can sell before the end of contract.
