S-Clarke Posted 9 February, 2015 Share Posted 9 February, 2015 Just tuned into ss to see Andrew Davis for Bradford Blast from the past, didn't he win player of the season ? Yes he did, when our options for good players were severely limited mind! He wasn't even here a full season before he ran off to Stoke! He was alright, very injury prone though. That's what's killed his career in the end and why he's now in L1.
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 9 February, 2015 Author Share Posted 9 February, 2015 Just as you said injury prone, he went down holding his knees Should have posted this in the deflectors thread lol
Crazy Diamond Posted 9 February, 2015 Share Posted 9 February, 2015 Got him from Middlesbrough and sold him to Stoke didn't we? Dark days back then. Remember Alan Bennett? Nightmare debut in the opening game of the 07/08 season and we ended up losing 4 - 1 to Crystal Palace at home. I can clearly remember a lengthy thread on how bad he was but to his credit he turned it around and we were gutted to see him leave in the end. He's just returned to Cork City where he was was brought to England from by Reading - along with a certain Shane Long - after a spell at AFC Wimbledon. A reversal from his stint with us, he started very well for them and helped them stay in the Football League, but ended up falling out of favour with management and fans as he appeared to slow down dramatically and lose his spark. Huffton Posted 10 February, 2015 Share Posted 10 February, 2015 Good player, very brave/stupid. Had a penchant for putting his head in the way of opposing players boots.

astrasri Posted 11 February, 2015 Share Posted 11 February, 2015 If IRC he was sold to Stoke for £1m, despite having major injury problems, whilst appearing to be good business on our part unfortunately that proved a cheap way for Stoke to unload a certain Anthony Pullis on to us as part of the deal. I always thought that it was a preamble to getting his Dad in to run the team at a time when " Manager of the Month " had a rather unpleasant meaning for Saints. In the end Tony senior didn't come, and we got landed with the son.......(obviously a long time before the " Black Box " was ever thought of......otherwise he wouldn't have got past the car park). Jesus that debut was the worst display I've ever seen from a footballer. It took him a while but he did come good in the end. Davies was decent but I think he was slightly overrated by our fans due to his effort. In a terrible team he seemed to be one of the few that cared.
