It has, and Derek the guitarist is the new landlord!

Stories like this give me renewed optimism for the future...

I remember some very messy nights in the Frog probably nearly 30 years ago now!!! Fook Help!!

Does anyone know of a bar called Jesters that doesn't have a dubious rep?

I know Jesters in Southampton and a Jesters in Plym. Both have dubious reps.

Lovely one just down the road from me. Perhaps it only because there is one and when many get together, all hell breaks loose?

I dunno. Appearances can be deceptive. Have you used it much yourself? Do you know for sure that Tuesday isn't BDSM night?

;) yes been there a few times, but it is in a sleepy village rather than in a city!

Maybe not quite as long ago as you, but jeez some very decent, if utterly messed up, nights in there!

Definately do the London Hotel, they would just lurve you guys in there :-)

The Edge would be better for the women in your group..;)

The Wetherspoons in Southampton all seem to serve reasonably kept beers, and a changing range, and as you'll be saving yourself £1.50 a pint over normal pub prices it can add up. From then on it really depends on your age and tastes, but Southampton has never been a particularly vibrant city in the nighlife stakes (from my vague memories, that is..).

yessiree, as noone had mentioned it on here I was starting to wonder if I'd dreamed the whole thing. What a fabulous establishment. I assume its nothing like it was now ?

It's reopening in a couple of weeks after 10 years of being closed. Meant to be going for a similar approach to the original.

Tickets (for three nights) sold out in minutes. Plenty of people remember it fondly, will be interesting to see the age range

I've gotten a lot older fatter and less coordinated since I last danced on a table there.

Always used to go there after having a skinful in the Canute so memories have been a little hazy at times. I have a distant foggy memory of only having bottles in there - was that right ?

So chuffed that the guitarist ended up as the landlord. If it really does go back to its former glory it gives me hope in a world where people asking for a decent pub are being told to go to a Weatherspoons

I've heard the Old Farmhouse is the place to be tomorrow night.

Actually not a bad shout for a few away fans. Seen them in there before.
