West Ham build up

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache

He hits his troll mark at just the right level, I think.

I mean, he has no problem comparing himself with Arsene Wenger, but he's not brave enough to put himself in the company of true visionaries, such as Tony Pulis, or Nigel Adkins in a Tony Pulis mask and outfit.

Thats "Allardici" for you!

Difficult game tonight.

We're dealing with the self-proclaimed most sophisticated boss in the League.

I've given him a lot of crap in the past, but I think I'm really warming to him. I think it's mostly to do with how rattled he's got LvG. Top troll.

Assuming that Yoshi plays LB tonight it will be interesting to see what defensive backup we will have on the bench, if any. As far as I can tell the only defender available who is not already slated for a starting place is young McCarthy. We don't even really have the luxury of dropping Wanyama into the defensive line if something happens to one of our recognised defenders, given that Morgan is likely to be unavailable (and we have dispensed with the services of Jack Cork). I guess Steve Davis could drop back into one of the full back berths in an emergency. Once again the lack of depth in our squad is being shown up, lets hope we can get away with it once again.

Simon Peach twittered that he saw Clyne in London this morning, is that a bit strange on a matchday?

Do you mean this...?

Congratulations @SimonPeach! You made our list of the February 2015 Top 100 Twitter Users in London, England - http://bit.ly/1vi7hIX

Simon Peach @SimonPeach · 3h3 hours ago

Number 65 in the capital, leaving @Nathaniel_Clyne trailing in my wake. Sure being a millionaire footballer will soften the blow.

........................

That doesn't mean Peach saw Clyne in London this morning. A website has said Peach is in their top 100 twitter users in London for February 2015 and that puts him ahead of Clyne.

But how much depth do you want? Played our 3rd choice LB last weekend, and our 4th choice CB, and we were never really in trouble. Do we need a decent 4th choice FB and 5th choice CB with first team / Prem experience? How do we keep them hapoy when everyone is fit I dont know and then we have u21s coming through

How is the lack of depth in our squad being shown up? We've got three defenders injured, that would have an impact on most teams.

Ive got my game face on today. Gooo Saints and Maya-san.

Elia is at home today! My son just cleaned his windows! Called me to say "you'll never guess who has moved into (house name withheld)?" I did guess ... eventually.

It would be, but that absolutely isn't what Peach tweeted.

Peach came 63rd in some ranking of most popular twitter accounts in London for the month (these things exist), and said he left Clyne (who came 68th I think) in his wake.

Neither of them is actually in London today.

Yes it would have an effect, but "most teams" in the top half of the PL would not have no defenders left (or as in our case 1 youngster with 1 league appearance to his name). Very promising youngster mind you. Sorry if pointing out that we are down to the bare bones does not suit your "everything is rosy" outlook.

We played our 3rd choice LB who is also our 3rd choice CB. I know we were not in trouble. Just pointing out that if anything happens tonight to any of our defenders we don't have anyone on the bench to take their place. We also don't have u21s coming through, other than McCarthy, except for two good ones who are on loan and doing very well at Swindon. Its not a problem if everything goes well, we have been lucky so far that we have managed to cope, what if our luck runs out?

Just seen that Mane has been voted ugliest player in the Premier League :( http://blog.paddypower.com/hot-or-not/?AFF_ID=16562

Hope this does not knock his confidence, he seems like a confidence player to me :(

Saints 0-1 West Ham

Bearsy, do you think its weird how apparently our four ugliest players were Mane, Clyne, Wanyama and Mayuka?

Or how 6 of the ugliest top ten are black?

Also, the fact that Pelle isn't number 1?

Mane can take heart in that this list is complete bullsh*t.

Saints 1-0 West Ham.

How many Left Backs and Centre Backs should we have in our squad for you to no longer consider "Once again the lack of depth in our squad is being shown up" ?

I dreamt the scoreline tonight was 4-1. It was not clear who to. Based on our defensive record I'd guess it was us.

Anyway my more conservative consciousness thinks it'll be a draw tonight. Which is not good enough for what we aim to achieve. Top 4 teams should be winning games like these at home, irrespective of how tough West Ham will be.

And yet a club of similar stature West Ham were playing a midfielder at centre back on Sunday.

The club could have recalled Stephens in January but they didn't so they clearly don't see depth as an issue.

Personally I'm pretty happy for Saints to continue to have quality core and support it with academy players.

Pelle's ego will have taken a huge hit if he's seen the results of "Who's the hottest player in the Premier League" commissioned by Paddy Power, the betting agents, using 250 carefully selected female beauties. He only came Number 43.

Out of interest Olivier Giroud came top.

Morgan got selected in the Top XI.

This story on Kumb about one of their fans getting beaten up by a disabled Saints fan just cracked me up.

We were rather drunk. This disabled guy and some of his physically abled friends enter the subway. Bootstrap, ever the fool, says quite loudly, "phwoarh, check out the rims on that bad boy."

Moments later we're all outside, I'm being held back by a couple of his mates (although in truth I was doing very little to break away from my restraints, nothing in fact). The disabled fella has launched himself out his chair onto old Bootstrap, knocked him to the floor and is sort of strewn across him, delivering a very considered number of punches to his face.

My mate could have fought back but he didn't. He took his kicking like a man. It was totally deserved and he knew it
