Ideal situation: Liverpool sell Lambert to Villa for £5m. Lambert looks tidy at Villa and goes on a scoring spree. Rodgers thinks 'who is this natural goalscorer?' and buys him in the summer for £10m.

Even Villa aren't stupid enough to buy their own manager.

It wouldn't be the last hour of transfer deadline day without some Harry Redknapp wheeling and dealing. And yes, I know he doesn't like that. But how else can you explain him trying to sign West Ham winger Matthew Jarvis on loan by sending West Ham forward Mauro Zarate back from his loan spell?Zarate only joined QPR a few weeks ago and it is against rules, never mind manners, to get rid of him so soon.

Bertrand would be the second biggest deal of the day and one of the highest in the window if done. LOL.

No one's interested anymore. It's all about Goat and his oats now.

This is so exciting. Will West Brom sign Darren Fletcher and Carlton Cole? I'm staying up until 1am just in case they don't get the paperwork in in time to complete before 11pm.

QPR have made a complete and utter ass wipe of deadline day. Comical! Seems like Harry tried to play the system and got found out!

Been away from innerweb today, what happened with Saggy?

He couldn't even get rid of Taarabt. Was stood freezing in the car park while being interviewed earlier. One plus for him was the shivering offset the twitch.

So who was it who said Ings would definitely be joining Saints after this season? I'm sure someone said it on here.

Me. And don't believe everything you read about Liverpool/Real Sociedad. He's coming to Saints.

Two new loans, with one already making a positive contribution on the field, plus the signing of Bertrand. I'll take that.

And no one out, which was always likely to be the case. Aside from Cork of course. Don't begrudge him that move one bit.

I think we've done ok.

We could all wish for another alternative to Pelle. But it was never really on the cards.

We can make do with what we have and if it turns out to be not quite enough so be it.

Encouraged by Gallagher's return to action, and we shouldn't be afraid to see what Seager and McQueen can do with a little game time.

Great work from the board. Welcome on board permantly Ryan. He has been immense so far this season. Shaw has not been mussed one single bit. A good January window all in all, looking forward to seeing what Djuricic can do.

They just spent over £30million on Cuardado and only got £22million for Schurrle, so it's possible they're looking for money to try and balance out for FFP.

As good as Bertrand is, would still have Luke Shaw, but what do I know, I wasn't on the 'glad we got Tadic, he's so much better than Lallana' bandwagon, obviously missed that one well and proper

Whilst I'm quietly pleased with our transfer window I have to confess to feeling let down by deadline day. Am I alone in missing the spectacle of reporters with nothing to tell us desperately filling in front of a hoard of gurning chavs?

Verdict? Need a good striker.

One attacking midfielder in. One loanee signed.

One steady midfielder (Cork) out.

Champions League?

Not this year. Maybe next.

It seems while clubs are doing less and less in the window, the media is still increasing the hype and coverage each year. It's the most repetitive tedious TV ever.

Totally agree, I didn't watch one bit of it this time, typical Sky over hyped rubbish.
