Deadline Day: 02/02/2015

After watching a few obligatory youtube vids Im not massively impressed. Not what we need right now IMO

Agreed.

I've been very impressed with this guy at FC Copenhagen - saw some YouTube videos of him playing him in the Eredivise a few years ago and he's brilliant. Reckon he'll be on Koeman's radar, played at De Graafschap and Utrecht.

Shame they've scrapped the live broadcasts from outside the grounds, the FHRITP interruptions and the infamous purple Dildo outside Everton's training ground made me laugh like an absolute drain.

Boo. You may have had people slagging off all the 'childish idiots' behind the reporters but it was the main thing that kept a lot of us watching.

'Live to the Britannia where Stoke have signed [some foreign mush that nobody has ever heard of] on a 2 week loan' ain't gonna be the same when reported from inside the ground.

For anyone in the USA then NBCS has a Premier League Deadline Day show from 6pm ET. Not sure if it's the Sky feed or not. Prob not but whatever - something different to watch apart from College Basketball.

Anyone else fancy Adebayor on loan ? Provided we dont pay all his wages and dont buy him in the summer, he always has a good start at a club and offers something slightly similar to Pelle. Admittedly hes a bit of a tosser , but I dont think hes Osvaldo level tosser. Maybe worth seeing if we can convince Poch he can save ossie at Spurs !!

French media outlet Le10Sport maintain their belief that Schneiderlin will sign for Arsenal tonight for a fee of £25m. I find that hard to believe.

Ah but the French press seem desperate to get him to what they consider a "proper club". 10 sport wrote a lot of bollax about him last summer as well, can safely be ignored.

Or stop us from putting in a bid at all. The option to buy all seems a bit strange to me, there's always an option to buy if the price is right.

Probably more about saying 'Yes you can have him on loan, should you want him permanently it'll be a fixed price of XYZ.' If there's no 'option to buy' I suspect it would mean that there just isn't a fixed price.

I've not seen enough (anything at all, really) of Djuricic to know whether he's a) a good player, or b) suited to us. However, the club's track record in terms of its recruitment over the last couple of years (Osvaldo aside, I guess, although that's a personal thing rather than an ability thing - I think everyone agrees he has the ability) certainly gives them the benefit of the doubt.

Apart from Mayuka, Forren and Taider that is...

No back-up keeper will bite us on the bum, I fear. That and not really having a real goal merchant (unless Jay Rod really is coming back). Quite like the look of the Serbian chappy though, solely from YouTube clips.

A year and a half ago Benefoot, a website that analyses the best of Belgian and Dutch football, produced a piece on emerging talent. It's interesting to see who was included in that: http://www.benefoot.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/BeNeFoot-Eredivisie-Top25.pdf - turn to page 2 to see the contents page. You will see the names of Djuricic, Vilhena, Blind, Clasie, Van Dijk, De Vrij, Eriksen all there.

Still think we could really do with him on the bench for games like yesterday. People love to slag him off but Tadic was appalling yesterday, has had plenty of poor games and gets away with it.

I hadn't thought about that parallel before but it is interesting how Gaston started bright yet is now regarded as waste of money, even though he still got a few goals and assists even last season. Tadic stats might be similar, not sure, but the impression we're getting is a little similar.

What I can remember of Djuricic when he played at SC Heerenveen in the Netherlands, is that he made a bigger impact than Tadic to be fair. He was a bit more decisive. Tadic sometimes tends to hold back, while Djuricic will make more rushes. A few years ago, I would rate him higher than Tadic. Don't know how he's doing at the moment though..

Agree - think he actually looked quite decent at the start of this season, and would be a good addition to our squad at the moment. He has hardly set the world alight at Hull though. Interested to see what would happen if he came back and was integrated back into the squad for next season.

Back when Djuricic played at Heerenveen I thought he showed more potential than Tadic. But Tadic in his last years at Twente had a much bigger impact than Djuricic did for Heerenveen. But then again, Djuricic is quite a bit younger.

At Twente Tadic in my opinion was always at his best as a left winger. At some point he was pushed to the right wing because of Nacer Chadli, but never looked as good there. I kind of feel the same now with Elia playing predominantly on the left wing.

For the amount of money he cost us he was appalling. Was rubbish on Saturday too.

Unfortunately this I agree with. A decent lad and definitely some talent, but you can't justify him being our top earner to sit on the bench every week making cameo appearances and not actually influencing the game that much

Strange that Tony Fernandes has tweeted that they aren't getting anyone else in today.

Fernandez might have said that but it wouldn't stop Harry setting up the deals behind his back and then start pressuring the chairman through the media until he gets his way.

He's done it at every club he's been at, it's his modus operandi.

from the BBC

Former England and Man City winger Trevor Sinclair

Saints need to strengthen

Posted at 15:21

"I think if Southampton have real aspirations of finishing in the top four they need to strengthen. They need another forward and to make sure the players they have already got don't go anywhere, because there have been rumours about a few of them.

"But because of their recruitment policy - and the fact they are so well-organised and don't usually leave things till the last day - I'm not so sure they will ... and for me, because of that, I don't think they'll finish in the Champions League places."

There are different types of January transfer to be honest. The pure panic signings, who have barley been scouted but their availability has been shared....and the players who have been heavily tracked and monitored for a period of time and the club decides to make the move.

I like to think we fall in the later!

Not forgetting the ones that just turn up in your car park in their Range Rovers, like manna from heaven.

then why sign anyone.

There is no guarantee. But there is definitely NO CHANCE if we dont try and fill the gap

We have already signed one player haven't we? It is better to buy the right players than just buy someone to keep people like you happy. We have managed to reach 3rd without any other players - what makes you think we have NO CHANCE if we don't buy anyone else? I think Ron knows more about what we need that an interweb warrior.
