On the Saints front...

Expecting Filip to be our only business today, with no further incomings or outgoings.

To find out more about 'The Balkan Cruyff', check out SaintsWeb member GGalpin's interview with Miloš Marković, the editor-in-chief of Serbian sports website Sportske.net: https://medium.com/@GGalpin95/djuri-i-681ec09fa39b

Anything else anyone is looking out for across the leagues?

There's talk that Redknapp and Hughes are going head-to-head for Adebayor on loan, that could be quite amusing if he chooses to go and play for Hughes...

Perfect deadline day: 1 midfielder and 1 striker in, Osvaldo the only out, Kate Abdo's dress falls off.

Average deadline day: 1 midfielder in. Osvaldo the only out.

Bad deadline day: No players in, JRod, Morgan, Clyne, Wanyama and Pellè all sold for next to nothing, Portsmouth get bought by the wealthiest sheikhs in the land, Jim White's clothes fall off and Koeman leaves for Barcelona, to be replaced by Andy Awford.

Can't wait for this over hyped deadline day b*llocks to be out the way once again.

Ha, amen...

I'm taking solace from the fact that I'm to be on 'Saints watch' for a couple of websites/feeds and after we sign Filip, that will be that.

At least we don't get the stupid fans. Unfortunately, I imagine Jim White will be about... *sigh*

I do not understand why anyone would choose to spend their evening watching reporters say how nothing has happened yet.

It's all about the potential abuse of reporters for me, that was the entire reason I watched last Summer and it didn't disappoint, now they've scrapped that there's no reason to watch.

With all those "sex toys" waving about, it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

As well as all the latest breaking transfer news and views from BBC Sport pundits throughout the day and night, we will be getting updates from Fifa 14 Interactive World Cup 2014 Grand Final competitor David Bytheway and Football Manager expert Alex Stewart.

Alex is 32 years old. He lives in London and is a Southampton fan.

Only one football manager expert who is a saints fan. Have we unmasked Mlg???

Lets see how tedious Stewie's comments are and we will know for certain.

Can I ask what you're basng this on? According to the Beeb it was "at least one". I wonder if we've trimmed our expectations since then, missed out on someone or now have to wait the summer for someone instead? Shame if so as we need a striker and could do with the bodies, even with Toby, Victor & Morgan due back soon. Not many Premier sides name only six subs and half U21s at that.

From the Echo:

here's an update from our chief sports writer, Adam Leitch, who has his ear to the ground at Saints today;

It’s all fairly quiet at the moment. Saints continue to work on deals for Filip Djuricic and Tonny Vilhena but neither is near to completion. This could be a fairly long and tense day for Les Reed, Gareth Rogers and club secretary Ros Wheeler. They have proved themselves expert at getting tricky deals over the line in recent times. However, the nature of the Djuricic one is such that even with all that experience it is going to be tough. That deal has seemed to close to completion in recent days but at other times all but off. Vilhena is more about reaching an agreement with Feyenoord and the Dutch side getting a replacement themselves. Typical deadline day stuff.

Looks like a long day ahead.

Surely we don't need another midfielder with everyone coming back? It can't be the priority with the adequate cover we've got. We need someone to take the pressure off Pelle. Or rather someone to come in and start putting away the chances Pelle keeps missing. He keeps playing fairly well without looking like scoring, which isn't really good enough if we want to push for Europe.

How long will sky flog this dead horse for, pointless. They're getting exclusive updates from clubs to tell them that there will be no business, yet they're going to stick around as they have done deadline day stuff in the past. Jeez. Clutching.

BT Sport seem to have a better idea, 3/4 hour show in the evening of deadline day. Job done.

Does he miss that many chances? I don't think he does. We lack creativity and a killer final ball too often, some different options from midfield might help that.

Yes, this is true. We try one too many passes, or go backwards and sideways. We lack someone to put a ball in quickly, or to thread one through quickly. Pelle is always available, always in the right positions, but the service to him for the last month or so has been pretty pathetic it has to be said. Tadic has gone off his game, he only needed a yard and he'd whip one in, but now he seems to never beat the first man - but teams are getting tighter to him I've noticed.

I know it won't happen, but a Wesley Snidjer type is exactly what we could do with. Someone in that number 10 role with a range of passing and an eye for a pass. We've got people like Mane, Elia, Long, Tadic etc who are more suited to the wide area's or playing on the shoulder. JWP has been tried in that position and has looked ok, but I think we lack a pure number 10 type. Our trouble recently is breaking sides down. Lots of possession is all well and good, but when you have no shots on target then it's pretty pointless and just illustrates the sideways/backwards way of our game right now.

Not sure about this Filip guy, but maybe he's being lined up for that number 10 role.

We've got the pace and the movement up front, now we just need to find it a hell of a lot quicker and more accurately than we have been.

You're right, the service hasn't been great, but he's missed some great chances in recent weeks. United, Everton, especially Arsenal spring to mind. I don't think we can expect that much more from an £8m player, but I think we need someone to share the workload.

Tadic really isn't helping, his delivery has been pretty poor recently. I hope we see Elia on the left, Mane behind Pelle and JWP on the right next time out.

According to Ed Maylon on the mirror deadline day blog, we are enquiring aboiut FC Twente's Kamohelo Mokotjo in case Vilhena deal fails

Are we interested in any players who are not dutch, have played in Holland or will play in Holland at some future date?

It all seems very dutchophilic to me just now. I'm sure that they're all fine players but there's a whole wide world out there to choose from.

Kamohelo Mokotjo's agent says 'there is only a small chance' that #FCTwente midfielder will leave today. #SaintsFC interested via @ed_aarons

Mokotjo's agent doesn't sound too confident that anything will happen, though the fact he says there is a small chance suggests the interest is there.

In a way I agree with this. I fear the players we are getting are going to play for Koeman, rather thaan Southampton FC. When, inevitably, Koeman goes on to bigger and better things, we will be left with some players whos head isn't in the game!

Maybe I have mis-understood this January transfer window.

The club have stated they are aware of who their summer targets are to take the club on again.

Any January transfer business was always going to be about adding some squad strength wasnt it ?

People slagging off this guy from Benfica before he gets here but if he is just to increase squad options then whats the problem.....and its only a loan besdies !!
