QPR Vs Southampton Build Up

Hopefully, worryingly he got nowhere near the low crosses either, what worried me most yesterday was that we put enough decent crosses into the box and nobody got anywhere near them

I was noticing this. All be it the crosses weren't great, he never seemed to be in the right position nor making runs to either posts. He just seemed to be nowhere near where the ball was being played.

My two penneth...

I actually thought Tadic had a decent first half, he was always an outball to feet and was strong against his full back - sometimes though its as if he waits for something to happen rather go out there and make it happen. He got Clyne away a few times.

Re the crossing - I actually dont think they were good enough, particularly when we had a bit of time. This I put down to both Elia and Tadic being on their weaker foot when crossing first time (i.e. without cutting inside), they are just content with getting the ball over rather than picking someone out. Significant that the JWP chance was Clyne, a naturally right footed player, putting in the cross. I was surprised not to see Elia and Tadic switch wings when the crossing repeatedly was dealt with far too easily.

Pelle needs some help. He is getting some abuse where I sit and I can see why, however I have sympathy for him. On his knockdowns there is no one close enough to him and he has played up top, on his own, almost the whole season and thats a tough ask for anyone - I too wish we were in for another striker like Demba Ba as some have mentioned.

Agree with all of that.

Yup more or less agree with it all. FWIW both the decent low crosses were Clyne and Bertrand. Totally agree with what you said about the other crosses, the problem was it wasnt turning them around, like I hoped we would with the inclusion of Mane and Elia. The couple of times we did we looked dangerous, otherwise it was all too easy for an organised defence that included CBs able in the air.

I stand by the fact there was enough quality in a few crosses, just not enough of them. Out of nearly 15 crosses only around 3 were away from the keeper or anywhere of any value. As I said unfortunately nobody was there to convert, Pellè takes up positions that are too deep, perhaps its an indication of his lack of form, something he may avoid with more composure in his strikes at goal.

He does get little support at times though, personally I like JWP but he doesnt get near Pellè 'enough', though I think Pellè needs to use his strength to hold the ball up rather then always trying the flick. He is good enough. Yes we do need adequate back up to Pellè though

I'd go with...

XI: Forster; Clyne, Fonte, Alderweireld, Targett; S. Davis, Wanyama, Schneiderlin; Tadić, Pellè, Elia.

Bench: K. Davis, Yoshida, Gardos, Reed, Ward-Prowse, Djuricic, Mané.

That's on the assumption that TA returns to training this week, as planned.

How come Tadic, Pelle & Mane all get their accent characters, yet Jew Riches has to go f*ck himself?

Mane for Tadic or Elia in that lineup for me. Amazing how the bench looks so much stronger with a few players back.

Not sure what this really means on Saturday. They've been good at home this year, and even though he's jumped because he's a wimp, It will have probably taken the players by surprise. Will be interesting to see the reaction. They'll have lost a bit of focus on specifics for Saturday, I'm sure.

Saturday will be buzzing now... We've got our Rangers back!!

Yep reckon there will be a new air of optimism about the place.

Am really looking forward to Saturday now. Can we prove we really are all in it together.

Sounds like their fans will be well up for it now was hoping they'd be right on their teams back for this game.

I've mentioned this before on the other fred. I do think that Mane playing behind Pele is the answer for now. Mane has the speed to get behind defenders. Pele is often surrounded in the box, so there are opportunities for Mane to open up space and score. It has worked before.

A 4-2-3-1? Interesting. Davis might be the odd many out

---------------Forster-----------------

Clyne--Fonte--Alderweireld--Targett

----Schneiderlin-----Wanyama-------

Tadic-----------Mane--------------Elia

-----------------Pelle------------------

I doubt that all three would come back into the squad so soon after injury but would be great if they could.

With Elia, Mane, Tadic and Djuricic I'm starting to wonder if Davis might be the odd one out more often now.

The problem is he is absolutely brilliant at what he does, and we have arguably missed him when he's played deeper recently. But the problem is he doesn't offer enough going forward. Will certainly be interesting to see what happens once everyone is fit.

Hope not. Personally i want to see him back in his more advanced role replacing JWP , as i think we've missed him there. Don't think Elia, Mane and Tadic should play together, as the balance of the team suffers.

i think we might see Djuricic lining up behind Pelle with Mane and Elia on the wings, Cant see Davis being played behind Pelle as he don't have the creativity and JWP all though is a good player is he more suited to a deeper midfield role more like a box to box mid.

Got to be able to pick out a killer pass if your playing behind the striker and we have 0 of them players, and i thought Ron brought in Djuricic to play in that role
