QPR Vs Southampton Build Up

Play like today against QPR and we will destroy them basically

Utter nonsense - they're very competitive at home and already showed at SMS they can mix it up. They're very physical and direct and will try to follow Palace's recent gameplan which we struggled with. Much will depend on who returns for us and whether they hit the ground running.

If we have that much possession and crosses then we will win comfortably

Elia wasted today second half out on the wing, get him closer to Pelle, down the middle, same with Mane if and as when he gets on. Tadic is an enigma right now, poor today but always feels like Lallana used too, the one person who could do something different to conjure up a goal. Need Morgan back mostly, then Toby, then Big Vic, as Harrison Reed gets better every game, was my MOTM today before he got wrongly/surprisingly substituted

Now this really is a must win game, even a draw is no good. Their defence is awful, play like we did today and we will create enough opportunities to score a couple. If we lose, that really is it as far as the top 4 is concerned

Yep, there'd be no chance of the top four if we find ourselves three points off fourth with 14 games to go

I thought we'd blown our chances weeks ago?

We were close to it. Either way it's been a great season and we should easily beat last season's points total. I was expecting 10th-12th place so anything above that is a bonus. I think we've all got a bit over-excited and rightly so. But I feel too many people are taking it for granted that we will beat all the sides we did in the first half of the season. West Ham at home, Sunderland, Stoke, QPR and Leicester all away, are we realistically going to take maximum points again from those fixtures? Unlikely.

If we're to maintain any hope of CL then this is a must win game. Otherwise its like any other...anything could happen. Basically, we score first we will win and possibly by a large margin. Can see a midfield selection headache for Koeman...Davis has to start, Morgan in for Reed. I would then put Tadic behind Pelle and Mane and Elia out wide. 1-3 Saints if we find a way to score...1-0 QPR if not.

I thought Koeman had strongly hinted at all three injured players being back?

That would leave a tough decision regarding JWP/S. Davis, as well as Tadic/Elia/Mane.

I take it there is no chance Bertrand can contest his sending off, so Targett in at left back, a slight weakening in that position.

If this Serbian lad signs he'll offer us something a bit different in terms of a final ball, something we've lacked quite a bit in my opinion.

Goes without saying it would be an added bonus to heap more suffering onto Redknapp's poor shoulders.

Would be tempted to switch to 3-5-2, however I'm not sure you can get Elia and Mane in the side if we play like that, I'd go with:

Forster

Clyne Fonte Alderweireld Bertrand (Targett if banned)

Wanyama Morgan Davis

Mane Pelle Elia

Think he'll start JWP though, as he seems to like him. Also would be tempted to play Wanyama and Reed or Morgan and Reed - bit of a gamble sticking in two CM's who have just come back from injury.

Decisions, decisions. Should they follow Crystal Palace's gameplan, which we struggled with, or should they follow Swansea's gameplan which we struggled with? And right there are two diametrically opposite strategies.

But the argument assumes that we will be fielding the same team that we did against Palace and that QPR will be comparable man for man to Palace. It also assumes that Koeman will have learnt nothing from the Palace match.

And as you say, it depends who returns for us, as had we had the likes of Toby, Wanyama and Schneiderlin available, I couldn't see us losing either the Palace or the Swansea games, and I would be confident of beating QPR no matter what Redcrapp's strategy was.

I mention Palace only because they too have plenty of pace and power - by the same token, QPR's defense isn't good enough to soak up pressure and play on the counter like Swansea did.

Thought Zamora, of all players, gave us fits at SMS. Getting Toby back is a must because he's a mismatch Yoshida and Gardos is not mobile enough to deal with the likes of Vargas and Austin. We should win; but they've made life very difficult for teams on their patch -think the City game- where they've only lost three times all season.

What's with all the sticky tape on Victor's GPS bib then, did he burst it asunder in a sort of Hulk like way or is it an old brand that hasn't been replaced despite Garmin sponsorship.

It's been like that for a couple of seasons, I think it's just a case of this equipment (heart monitors I think) was purchased with loads of branding slapped over it. They obviously don't want to replace the expensive kit, so just cover up the branding. Fair enough.

And why is Morgan in those pictures? Doesn't he realise he should be at Arsenal? He's not got long, especially with rush hour coming up.

How good is it to see those 2 back training again?

Will be brilliant to have them back this weekend.

In fact they figure at the end of the gallery for Sunday's game so they were evidently in some form of light training even then, pity neither of them was able to contribute 20 minutes or so at the end of yesterday"s game.

If we play like we did yesterday I can't see us scoring - have we forgotten how to shoot at the goal? When will our midfielders start scoring again?

TBF, the three that started in midfield yesterday have not scored this season I don't think...(Reed, Davis, JWP) Even Tadic hasn't scored many this year, 3 is it?

If Alderweireld is still out and Yoshida plays then I can't see McCarthy being on the bench ahead of Gardos.
