Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-1 Swansea

That was always going to happen when we can't turn our possession into goals. Very pretty football at times but no cutting edge, we seriously need a better final ball and a predatory goal scorer. However we've had some good results but I think a top 6 spot is out of the question now.

The word predictable is the stand out word here. Called this result at half time. If only we scored from the sitter in the first half then this could have been an easy win, unfortunately the chance fell to Ward prowse.

The squad is painfully thin now with suspensions and injuries and is clearly lacking another striker and yet we enter the last day of the transfer window without this being rectified. As with last year, I feel our lack of intent in January will be costly.

UOTE=JackFrost;2128881]LOL in the 50th minute my friend said Shelvey was going to score an 82nd minute winner. He was only a minute out.

Fair play to them, they've defended too well. Ashley Williams has been brilliant.

Our crossing has been so poor it's actually made Fabianski look dominant.

We're too slow and predictable in the final third, and far too pre-occupied with trying to walk it in the net.

Another game we've lost, just like at Spurs, because we don't have one player who has the balls to shoot from outside the box, and they did

I wouldn't trust any of our bros to shoot from distance, none of them is famed for being clean striker of the ball. It's not like we've got Eriksen out there.

I cant see how taking Reed off changed things massively tbh, they never had control, before or after. They broke, shelvey found space and hit a decent shot, Davis and Fonte were covering so its not like we didnt have a man there. Besides, all that happened was JWP dropped back into the defensive two.

Right decision to get Mane and Ellia running at them but despite the pace we never turned them around. We gave them too much time to get compact and organise. Positives wise is we dominated, negatives are despite all our crosses they just didnt fall to the right people.

Predictably this place will now go into meltdown with JWP, forster etc being called crap.. Sigh

Bertrand was an idiot too, now missing for 3 games

Pelle,Ward Prowse,Tadic,Mane all had the chance to do the same thing as Shelvey, shoot on sight. He hit the post with his first attempt and we let him have another go yet we still tried to walk it in.As far as crosses are concerned just don't go there.I said we shouldn't we shouldn't take this as a walkover and look what happens.

Harry Redknapp must be licking his chops at the thought of having us for dinner next weekend. Dismal, utterly dismal. Why didn't we replace Tadic at half time. And as for Pelle, Gardos would have done a better job. Time after time Pelle passed to an opponent.

What worries me is Koeman plans bringing more of the same before the window shuts. Should go for Fletcher now he's not going to West Ham.

I thought Tadic was decent in the first half, but lost it in the second. Set pieces can be so frustrating when you continue to make nothing of them... I found the first half quite enjoyable because we were playing so well, but you always know that if you don't turn that into goals it will come back to bite you. Thought Davis was excellent. Forster doesn't have much to do nowadays, but is often found wanting.

Difference being when we had the ball near their goal there was usually 7 swans in the box, we had quite a lot of block shots I thought

When we brought Mané on for Reed, we didn't just (fatally) lose a key element of our midfield cover.

We also marginalized Elia because he didn't seem to know where to go after Mané's arrival.

That really was a very, very bad move - and I think most on here saw it that way at the time. Amazed that Ronald didn't.

Art you are kidding I hope. Koeman has done a remarkable job whatever happens now.

we can only assume he doesn't want anymore forwards, it is not as though there are loads of chances from 3yards out for us to finish off. He has decided that players like Mane, Elia etc give us more

Weak shots all round from Saints players.

Ron shooting practice is in order please !

I've said it earlier, the problem lies in these poncy boots the players can't wait to play in. They're the reason we can't hit a cows a rse with a banjo. Should have been 4-0 up at half time.

All teams lose unexpectedly, it is a shame we are the only losers in the top 6 . Nobody mentions Long missing as well. His energy and pace would have been useful as well.

Didn't go today, so can't really comment on specifics, but for all his extra energy and dynanism he adds, Long is usually as guilty as the rest in offering little goal threat as a rule.

If we were serious about top four, this weekend we had to win to prove we could handle the pressure. Unfortunately we came up wanting. Not been this ****ed off with Saints in ages.

Probably not since the Palace match, all of eight days ago.

Are you saying they have been playing well? Was a good post up until the bashing of bashers.

JWP and Forster played poor and have done so on multiple games recently. Is it not right to point that out? Or should we just say well done lads because we are not allowed to pick out anything negative as that makes us a bed wetter or whatever?

The reason that there was 7 swans in the box is due to inability to move the ball FORWARD quickly rather than the backwards/sideways crap.

Just one of those days sadly. Clyne and Tadic were very poor. We've no devine right to win every game and Swansea showed exactly what it takes to beat us. We'll probably beat QPR as they will need to attack us and will leave us more space to exploit as we really didnt have any today. Still feel we are a striker short. A goal poacher would have won us the game today i think...

it seemed to me that they had 7 in their box when kicking off.

i do agree that we were too slow in getTing the ball in the box, and second half the c/bs were playing it long.

No it's because they dropped deep and put plenty of bodies behind the ball - indeed, was quite impressed how we still managed to get behind them, notwithstanding the final ball. Swansea played on the counter and invariably had more space to shoot.

Tadic even went inside when they doubled up on him, rather than use his right foot. Pelle huffed and puffed, but did nothing. At least Elia and Mane can go past people.

I would be having a bit of a rethink on what we need this window.

I thought that last Saturday, but if today was a(nother) wake up call, its perhaps a bit late.

Striker needed.

And I still maintain if we're really serious about qualifying for Europe ( CL or EL) then a reliable back up GK is also required.Imagine the last few matches if we have to rely on KD or PG. Plus some competition for Forster might make him up his game a fraction.

Swansea parked the bus,and we always find it hard to break a team that does this

at ht said to my son for all our dominance shelvey isn't being marked and will knick it for them.

we march on

sadly the teams all pundits think are the top six are right on our tail now

would love a euorpean tour with saints, hope we can keep up with those that want it as well

Personally, don't think JWP's generally play was that bad, he just really needs to build his confidence somehow when in shooting positions. You've got to think he must be practicing shooting in training, surely, as it's clearly his weakness.

People need to lay off him a bit though - he will be a fine player, he just needs to sort out his composure and if he can get a couple of goals, I think that will do the power of good for his confidence.

There's no need for these silly, knee jerk "no chance of top four now" remarks. WE ARE 4TH NOW. There's obviously still a chance.

If we beat QPR on Saturday and Spurs and Arsenal draw, will we still have no chance then?

We were always going to lose games before the season ended.
