Dr Who? Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I for one would like to try and get our forward thinking club to embrace ladiex football and show the country how it should be done. Please support the petition if you so wish. https://www.change.org/p/southampton-football-club-fund-the-southampton-ladies-football-team?recruiter=92367608&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_facebook_responsive&utm_term=des-md-google-no_msg&utm_content=ci_fb_share_title_text%3Acontrol&fb_ref=Default Thank you
Mattio Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Good idea, I can understand dropping the team when we were in the s**t but it's amazing that we haven't re-signed them since our rise.
Bearsy Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I feel a bit bad petitioning Kat, or petitioning anyone, to give money to Charity. Is that a fair thing to do? Srs question!
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Can't we just ask them rather than petition?
Gemmel Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I would rather any funding goes towards the real team / squad
Sour Mash Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I would rather any funding goes towards the real team / squad And the club already show fantastic attitude to it's local community causes already. http://www.saintsfoundation.co.uk/about-the-foundation/our-supporters/
Hatch Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 nah, if ladies football is so fantastic and well supported they can look after themselves.
scotty Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Kat would make a good keeper. I doubt that, but she certainly makes an excellent owner who we're very lucky to have.
Coxford_lou Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 nah, if ladies football is so fantastic and well supported they can look after themselves. It's not, and that's the point.
Nolan Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Sorry, only think it should be done If its cost neutral.
Patrick Bateman Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 It's not, and that's the point. Maybe because it's painfully boring to watch and of a low standard.
Mouldy Coat Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I think we should fund them if they play in bikini's. Otherwise no chance
Coxford_lou Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Maybe because it's painfully boring to watch and of a low standard. Maybe that's because it's been under supported for many decades. Maybe it doesn't matter whether or not people like you want to watch it or not. Maybe what matters is giving women and girls the opportunity to do something they love, and get good at it, rather than spending their lives feeling like they're on the sidelines. Cause and effect, Patrick.
Coxford_lou Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I think we should fund them if they play in bikini's. Otherwise no chance I assume you don't have any daughters, Mouldy?

Coxford_lou Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 They can already do that, down the the park, like anyone else and if they get good, they can rise through the football pyramid, like anyone else. Good job Kat can spend her money how she likes!
hypochondriac Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Good job Kat can spend her money how she likes! Shame that some feel a petition is appropriate though.
LGTL Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 They can already do that, down the the park, like anyone else and if they get good, they can rise through the football pyramid, like anyone else. Quite. I don't see pub teams clambering to be associated with a professional team. The standard is just silly.
Patrick Bateman Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Good job Kat can spend her money how she likes! Yes and a petition telling her how to spend her money is not letting her spend it how she likes ...
Coxford_lou Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Yes and a petition telling her how to spend her money is not letting her spend it how she likes ... Really? That was your best come back? The petition is a piece of harmless encouragement for a policy they're already considering. And a simple way for Saints fans to engage with the topic.
View From The Top Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Women's football is shockingly shiite and no one really gives a fat rats arrse about it.
Miltonaggro Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I would rather any funding goes towards the real team / squad Agree with this! That said, if anyone wants to start a petition to start up an SFC chimpanzee football team, I would happily sign it. We could also get them to do a five a side at half time - hilarious. Win, win...
CB Saint Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I am completely ambivalent about a women team. Provided there is zero impact on the first team (men). just feels like an added distraction

CB Fry Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I am completely ambivalent about a women team. Provided there is zero impact on the first team (men). just feels like an added distraction This. I am almost rabid in my ambivalence. Either way, I don't care.

SW5 SAINT Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Women's football is shockingly shiite and no one really gives a fat rats arrse about it. This.....
No 2 to Maybush Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I think the vast majority of you are seriously underestimating the global rise of women's football and the commercial opportunities that are rising in tandem with this growth. The club have an opportunity to be proactive on this with an eye to the future. I am sure it would not do the Saints franchise any harm to have formal representation in this market, and if nothing else, fits with our "community club" ethos.

As far as I'm concerned, the women can set up any team they like as long as it has no impact on me.
Asaint4ever Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Woman and football? Na! I would rather fund money to bring wesley sneijder in.
richard Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I think this is a great idea, well done Dr. Signed.
Lets B Avenue Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I'd rather they spent the money on a Radio Station.
East Kent Saint Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 The downside of these online petitions is that you get endless emails to sign up for more petitions . IMO online petitions are much to easy to sign up for and are not really representative .

Vanity project, role in community stuff, box ticking, PR - yep, fine. Commercial opportunity - nah. If it broke even you're winning, that'll be about it.
Killers Knee Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 If we were to finance woman's football, it should be from scratch, from a team formed exclusively by our own academy.
Saint_clark Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 If we were to finance woman's football, it should be from scratch, from a team formed exclusively by our own academy. The team they're talking about linking with used to be "our" team anyway.
Killers Knee Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 The team they're talking about linking with used to be "our" team anyway. But as soon as Saints finance it, the coach is out, trainers are out, 80% of the players are out. So instead of tearing that club apart, create a new one that provides competition in the mould of "The Southampton Way".
Lord Duckhunter Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I'm starting a petition to get Southampton netball team to set up blokes section.
explorer saint Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I'd rather sign a petition to get away fans moved preferably out of the ground
bridge too far Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 What a load of dinosaurs on this board.
Bearsy Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I would watch a dinosaurs vs chimpanzees Saints game if Kat wanted to finance that pls
Patrick Bateman Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 I would watch a dinosaurs vs chimpanzees Saints game if Kat wanted to finance that pls
Dellman Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Any funding available should support the proper team, that's where I expect my money to go and if KL continues to fund us I hope that will be where her support goes

Turkish Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 How many people preaching about wanting a woman's team would get off their arse and go and watch them? Here's a Clue, hardly anyone.
Miltonaggro Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 How about putting them in the zorbs. Genius! I think we should start a petition to make this dream a vivid reality...
