the saint in winchester Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Good show. Definitely part of our plans, and a future full international.
angelman Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 They've got it on their transfer centre page @ 8:48 http://www1.skysports.com/transfer-centre/
Bewildered Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Simon Peach @SimonPeach 1m1 minute ago .@Prowsey16 has committed his future to #SaintsFC. Confirmation expected shortly.
Saint_Ash Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Excellent news. Keep all the people whinging about flogging off our young English talent quiet.
Dig Dig Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Excellent news. Keep all the people whinging about flogging off our young English talent quiet. True, I knew the tide had turned when we signed Shaw and Lallana to new long term contracts.
Saint_Ash Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 True, I knew the tide had turned when we signed Shaw and Lallana to new long term contracts. And? That means nothing with regards to JWP signing a new deal. Are you going to view every new contract with cynicism in case they still move on? I think you'll find that Lallana and Shaw were the ones who wanted to leave as well.
DJ_TOAST Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Brilliant news! He's always come across as a thoroughly decent chap who enjoys playing for Saints and would be loyal and not jump at the first chance to go like the others, so this just confirms that.

Are you going to view every new contract with cynicism in case they still move on? I think you'll find that Lallana and Shaw were the ones who wanted to leave as well. Not with cynicism but with realism. Players signing long term contracts is nothing but positive but Lallana a side, we are yet to prove that we have a strong desire to ensure that our young academy products will be playing 150+ games for us before moving to bigger clubs should the opportunity arise. In any case, very pleased to see JWP sign up.

Whitey Grandad Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Good news. He's going to be a very good player.

In any case, very pleased to see JWP sign up. I think we're on an upward curve now, JWP will hit 150 games and more I believe and I hope to see others do the same if they're good enough. Reed could be another one, maybe Targett? We're in a better place than when we sold Lallana, Shaw and Chambers but also selling them made us stronger. We'll always sell the odd gem, can't be helped as we're not at the same level as Chelsea, Man U or City but I believe some of the new talent coming through will want to stay if we can keep up our ambition in the league.
Delboy Dave Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 @Prowsey16: Buzzing to sign a new contract at @SouthamptonFC. We are on a great journey and I'm excited for the coming years(1/2) @Prowsey16: The club put their faith in me at a young age, I can't wait to pay that faith back to the club and YOU the fans ? #saintsfc #WeMarchOn (2/2)
Block34 Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Quick question... Could JWP (or any current Saints player) have signed his renewal at anytime or did it have to be in a transfer window?
Greenridge Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Not with cynicism but with realism. Players signing long term contracts is nothing but positive but Lallana a side, we are yet to prove that we have a strong desire to ensure that our young academy products will be playing 150+ games for us before moving to bigger clubs should the opportunity arise. In any case, very pleased to see JWP sign up. We're following the lead of the main political parties. Announce good news (JWP) on the same day you try and bury bad news (Cork). Anyway, as you say, glad to see him stay. Think he's come on significantly this year under Koeman.
dronskisaint Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Great stuff! There are no negatives to this news, I think he'll become an even better professional and England player - ideally for us. The guy has cast aside his skate roots - for that along with his other attributes he has my respect!
Secret Site Agent Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 I like the sound of this. Well done JWP.
Saint Garrett Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Very good interview with him, he knows what to say. [video=youtube_share;PBnBot6JeUM]
david in sweden Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Confirmed on Twitter - photo of him and RK .....has he also got a new watch on ?
david in sweden Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 good news of course, especially as he was the first of the current Academy crop to be selected when we came back to the Prem. 2012 Already in the England U21 set-up.... and getting a mumbled compliment for Roy Hodgson last year, means he must surely be included in a full England squad fairly soon. Still a bit young for the task, but has Saints' captain written all over him - after Fonte eventually retires.
SNSUN Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Good news. He's already a good player, I'd love to see even more progression from him though and he'll become a top player.
Crab Lungs Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Very good interview with him, he knows what to say. [video=youtube_share;PBnBot6JeUM] He's been lifting, brah
pangy Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Still not sure on where he fits best,I think he will develop into a attacking Mid just needs to add goals to his game and maybe bulk up a bit,he will be very good player
SuperSAINT Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Great news for us. Only a matter of time before he nails a free-kick in the top corner for us too.
VectisSaint Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 He'll be off to his spiritual home as soon as Portsmuff come calling, contract or no contract. Still 5 years should ensure the Skates won't be calling until his contract expires so maybe OK.
hans gruber Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Good lad jwp. Looks like he has celebrated by going out to the barber shop and gotten a short back and sides
Saint Charlie Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Looks like he is known as FEC amongst some of the backroom staff (source: Kitman Forbsey on Twitter). FEC being of course Future England Captain.
simo Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Looks like he is known as FEC amongst some of the backroom staff (source: Kitman Forbsey on Twitter). FEC being of course Future England Captain. I wouldn't be too surprised if he gets close to the next squad if he can keep his place in our team until then
disconnect Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Hopefully he can celebrate with a long awaited prem goal this weekend.
saintbob40 Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 61 PL games as an advanced midfielder no goals. Hmmmmmmm
davefizzy14 Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Wonderful news. Prowsey is a huge talent and will only get even better. Hope he scores on Sunday to cap this all off. COYR
Saint Charlie Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 61 PL games as an advanced midfielder no goals. Hmmmmmmm I think he has the capability to score and could easily ramp up his scoring rate once he gets that first one.
SuperSAINT Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 61 PL games as an advanced midfielder no goals. Hmmmmmmm Thought it was interesting he said he likes to play a bit deeper.
Toadhall Saint Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 I think he has the capability to score and could easily ramp up his scoring rate once he gets that first one. This. One goal would do him the world of good.
shurlock Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 (edited) He could interview for England. That's about it, right now. But v.glad we get to see the benefits if he kicks on - unlike some of our other gilded graduates of the Academy. Also sends out a positive signal to the rest. Edited 30 January, 2015 by shurlock
Leicestersaint Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Good perhaps he could start scoring the occasional goal now - maybe bag a few on Sunday?
BadgerBadger Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 Good news and judging by the interview he's a fully signed member of the SFC bandwagon. As for the comments relating to lack of goals it took Morgan a good few years to hone his craft, JWP is only gonna get better
SarniaSaint Posted 30 January, 2015 Posted 30 January, 2015 good news of course, especially as he was the first of the current Academy crop to be selected when we came back to the Prem. 2012 Already in the England U21 set-up.... and getting a mumbled compliment for Roy Hodgson last year, means he must surely be included in a full England squad fairly soon. Still a bit young for the task, but has Saints' captain written all over him - after Fonte eventually retires. means the deluded Hodgson will arrange his transfer to a so called big club and/or get tapped up by Shrek
musesaint Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Met him at last year's PFA awards. Top bloke. Really grounded and modest
saintchris23 Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Not bad for a saints badge kissing skate
Bucks Saint Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Met him at last year's PFA awards. Top bloke. Really grounded and modest This, 100%. Has to be one of the most intelligent players we have too
scotty Posted 31 January, 2015 Posted 31 January, 2015 Great news. Very good player, and probably the best set piece deliverer we have. We were crying out for that last season.
