Just a quick bit of advice DW. Stop going on about all your macho pursuits. You are coming across as more of a Louie Spence by the minute.;)

Ha ha ha. I make cheesecakes and a qualified massage therapists. I am more making the point, it does not matter what you do, just do what makes you happy. ;)

Oh yes I also played American football on and off for a few years, but the same as football, so do gay people, as do straight people make daisy chains. Perhaps you should try it Turks, you might enjoy it, rather than trying to make up stuff about other people and being completely wide of the mark, as per normal.

Try American football? If I ever wanted to be a lard arse whooping, hollering and grabbing my team mates by the collar wearing more body armour than a knight in the crusades I'll try American football.

I do realise, that I am not going to win with you. ;)

Oh but Pap, I have only been invited to one. It is more the unfortunate timing that prevented me, nothing to do with trousers. Other meeting in the past have been to do with money..... Nothing I would like more, believe me.

That party you were invited to was in September, and he was the first of our school year to turn 40. If memory serves, I remember you:-

a) updating Facebook all day with progress of your journey.

b) not turning up at the party, and then announcing you were at a Kings of Leon gig with the missus.

I am no Inspector Morse, and what with all the other theories I entertain, I may not have given this the love that it deserves, but if you haven't been invited to anything else, perhaps it's merely incompatibility with your party going modus operandi and basic expectation.

Usually, the expected outcomes to a party invite are "I'll go" or "I won't", not "I'll go", "I'm on my way" and "I'm at Kings of Leon, despite it being one of my best pal's birthdays and despite never mentioning it before".

Refining your responses to the expected outcomes may yield a greater number of invitations.

What about baking bread - start with a really basic white dough recipe and move up to sourdough. Some people get a heck of a lot of satisfaction from that and it always impresses. My own vice is boardgames. Have a look at "euro games" and "Ameritrash" games. There's a large and growing community out there of geeks who are helpfully gathered around http://www.boardgamegeek.com Be careful though, it is easy to quickly get into buying and collecting a huge amount of games that you are never going to play more than a few times. My current new favourite is called 7 Wonders or if you're into Star Wars, try X Wing or Imperial Assault.

Whatever hobby you go for, I hope it fires you up.

Saw the title of this thread and was going to suggest the same. Loads of "modern" boardgames that are getting more and more popular and make more traditional games like Monopoly etc look really dated and not fun at all. My chums all laugh at me, but when they play any of these games, all enjoy them and want to play again, as long as I don't get the really complicated games out (I'm looking at you Mage Knight).

Sounds like you've found some rock climbing to keep you happy for now tough - certainly healthier than sitting around playing boardgames anyway!
