I reckon Koeman has something up his shleeves. Would be nice to be a team that does a bit of business on deadline day so Jim White can wet his knickers once more and the yoof can get their 15 minutes of fame shoving dildos into reporters ears.

If we are serious about a Champions League spot no need for penny pinching so I'm sure we'll be signing someone. Otherwise we're just being bull sh*ted to.

I'm looking forward to seeing how many groups of fans at the training grounds holding up "Sky ruined football" (or similar) banners like the few (Palace, I think?) who did back in August!

We've never done much in January, that L1 season being the exception. But traditionally, it's a panic month to buy. I don't generally think you get amazing value, the best value is in players whose contracts are running down, but if you're not desperate, you'd wait a few months and get them for free anyway!

I see Sky Sports are ramping up transfer deadline day already, but the whole window has been a non-event. Nothing has happened, and I doubt it will.

a truly vivid image. I think you may be right!...

I don't know why SSN bother getting reporters to stand outside the stadium in front of a bunch of kn*b heads. It's not as if Bale and Messi are going to come walking through the main entrance at Selhurst Park. It's never long before some razor sharp pioneer of modern comedy shouts, "f**k her right in the pussy!" Or something equally as original and hilarious.

I don't think we will do anything. Personally I would like another striker but I think the only business will be Osvaldo out on loan again.

This window will give a great indication if the board really do have the long-term ambition to crack the top 6 or if they had merely just set their stall out for a mid-table finish and Koeman Bros are massively over achieving.

If the ambition is there then it is a no-brainer to bring in a couple of players this window in order to push on for top 4, especially given the current spate of injuries and also given the fact we were one of only 2 PL clubs to spend less than we took in transfer fees in the Summer.

Without bringing in a couple of new faces the season could easily fizzle out into a 7th or 8th place finish and no Europe.

I know and it was done a thousands times before that. Normally by 15 year olds who want to be proper naughty by saying something rude on TV. The dildo was predictable enough as well. If you're going to all the effort of driving down to the stadium and standing there until midnight at least come up with something original. Form a barber shop quartet or something.

we dont need amazing value, we need a decent striker

Nothing although Osvaldo will move somewhere else.

And of course Jos has already moved somewhere else - to Millwall

We have already brought in Elia in this window. I also saw something on teletext about RK being after 2 Dutch centre halves in the summer. We have players coming back from injury soon but agree that the injury to Long is a worry and if something should happen to Pelle we are in the carp.

Wouldn't get your hopes up. A late loan maybe if one becomes available and would interest Koeman but unlikely. Forget about us buying anyone that wont happen as money isn't there.

Where is it then ?

Probably gone on wages/in clauses waiting to be paid out on. You can't just say we had £90m to spend, far too simplistic, this ain't FM.

And our projected match day and TV income doesn't cover all of that ?

Selling players to pay salaries all sounds very QPR. Training ground does sound likely though.

Training ground? Historic debts? Also, is his point that there is no cash full stop or that we can't spend more due to FFP? Or cash-flow?

FFP allows a club to lose £150m over 3 years. I'm not sure Kat's generosity is anyway near that level.

Posted
But doesn't FFP not also factor wages versus turnover?

No, think it only factors wages against TV revenues and then it's in sums of money and percentages of sums of money never a straight income/wages ratio.

Maybe we're waiting on Money coming in. Ain't it that Liverpool only pay £5 a week or something when they buy players?

Didn't think that the Saints did slates any more, pay up or you don't sign our players.

Not very often it's all cash upfront

It wouldn't be that simple in FM either.

Its 105 million over for the Premier League. It is a lot less if you want to play in Europe--45 million euros over three years.

Did not Ralphy say that she did not wish to invest a further franc of her own money ?

I think it was made clear that management wanted sustainability by which they meant no more money in. Liebherr probably will still put money in rather than have the club have real financial problems.

But doesn't FFP not also factor wages versus turnover?

Not in the premier league. That is how FFP works in League One and League Two. The premier league has a wage cap which is complicated but for us it is 56 million pounds this year, plus any net player trading profit from this year, plus any increase in non-TV revenue over last year. This is player wages only--not the entire staff so the officially published wages costs overstate the wages for salary cap purposes.

It is not that bad Bearsy--maybe you intended that to be partially a joke. It is, however, very unlikely that all of last summer's sales were for immediate cash in full. Remember also that we are still making payments on our incoming transfers from prior years.

So, what do you think we will do before the deadline?

.......think VERY seriously about what might happen in the next 16 games, and just pray that Pellé stays fit :scared:and gets away without any more cards:scared:

we'll never have a better chance to qualify for Europe than now, because by this time next season MU will have spent another £150 million and be back up near the top fighting it out with the other "Big teams"

Where did that come from? Incomprehensible non sequitur.

There will never be a better opportunity...for the Academy lads to step up to the plate and be counted. Can't honestly see the club spending on a replacement striker at this stage or indeed any other players. Only exception is if Cork goes this window - then a replacement might be brought in - perhaps on a loan to buy deal.

Could it also be that we have set money aside to sign Bertrand, Alderweireld and Elia?

Remember the greatest chairman in history left us with 'a difficult financial position' due to his world class talent of spending money without making any.
