Charlie Wayman Posted 25 January, 2015 Posted 25 January, 2015 I was there,. It looked like a dislocated shoulder... So was I and he was holding his rib-cage with the medic helping to keep his upper body weight off it when they walked down the tunnel in front of me.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 25 January, 2015 Posted 25 January, 2015 @ShaneLong7: Thanks for all the tweets guys. Feeling alot better today and am on the mend. Here's to a speedy recovery
Secret Site Agent Posted 25 January, 2015 Posted 25 January, 2015 We are reliant on Pelle for the way we play the ball forward even when he is not scoring. I agree. Pelle give us more than just goals, he defends, he hits the woodwork alot, and other teams put two players on his and are always watching him as, they make the same assumption that you do, that taking him out of the game means we don't score. But we do as it gives other the chance at goal. His ability to pass the ball on also helps. But I am selfish in that I would like another striking option, but that ius just me. I wish Shane a speedy recovery.
Whitey Grandad Posted 25 January, 2015 Posted 25 January, 2015 Ribs are very painful. 6 weeks or so, I would have thought.
Junior Mullet Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Can't wait to get Mane back now. If he comes back showing the same form he did before leaving for the ACON we'll still have a great chance of finishing high. If we can get 10 games or so out of JRod that was be a bonus but I'm not hopeful of seeing him this season. Hope Shane recovers quick - he does add something to the team and Ron seems to know how best to use him.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Echo quoting Koeman as saying Long has broken ribs and is out for a while. Forward wise we really are down to our bare bones
david in sweden Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Echo quoting Koeman as saying Long has broken ribs and is out for a while. Forward wise we really are down to our bare bones OUCH !
david in sweden Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Echo quoting Koeman as saying Long has broken ribs and is out for a while. Forward wise we really are down to our bare bones OUCH ! We shouldn't laugh. I damaged my ribs some years ago, and asked the doctor what sort of discomfort I might expect ...and what sort of recovery time? He said it starts to hurt more after a couple of weeks, but I'd only feel pain ....when I laughed, moved ....or breathed ! (he was right). No joke, though.
darren2 Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Broken ribs are about 5 weeks. But posting a pic in hospital with pain relief mask on.... REALLY???? I mean it hurts, but man up......
Saint Billy Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Broken ribs are about 5 weeks. But posting a pic in hospital with pain relief mask on.... REALLY???? I mean it hurts, but man up...... Hark at fekin Hulk Hogan!!!
Spaceman Spiff Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Broken ribs are about 5 weeks. But posting a pic in hospital with pain relief mask on.... REALLY???? I mean it hurts, but man up...... That's an oxygen mask. I presume you're thinking of entonox which is only used on labour wards and isn't really a mask.
Gis Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Looking at he picture, at least it looks like Shane has taken something along to read whilst in hospital
Dellman Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 I've broken ribs at the moment and i can tell you pain relief is essential because every movement, cough, laugh shakes the ribs, the broken bits don't like it and sleep is not possible without pain killers, the most powerful type
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 What does his chest tattoo say, in case of operation cut here?
saint cozza Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Confirmed as 2 broken ribs and a punctured lung - looks like we may have to dip into the transfer market.
cellone Posted 26 January, 2015 Author Posted 26 January, 2015 Although on the bright side the feather earring is fantastic!
beatlesaint Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Broken ribs are about 5 weeks. But posting a pic in hospital with pain relief mask on.... REALLY???? I mean it hurts, but man up...... 2 broken ribs and a punctured lung and you say man up ? Lol, priceless !
Bearsy Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 (edited) What does his chest tattoo say, in case of operation cut here? I can read it v.easily, it seems to be Re: Baby Jesus: Infant Jesus meek and mild look on me a little child Pity mine and pity me suffer me to come to Thee Heart of Jesus I adore Thee heart of Mary I implore thee heart of Joseph pure and just (lol how they're running out of room + cram together!) in these three hearts I place my trust Anon (i think, tho Amen would prob make more sense) Edited 26 January, 2015 by Bearsy

Bearsy Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 i withdraw all my comments I fully support Shane Long & share his love for Baby Jesus, or as he calls Him, Infant Jesus I think it's cool that he likes Baby Jesus, because Baby Jesus is Innocent and Christmas, and not caught up in the Controversies that tormented poor Grown Up Jesus on the Cross

Coxford_lou Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 @ShaneLong7: Thanks for all the tweets guys. Feeling alot better today and am on the mend. Here's to a speedy recovery Oh no!! Poor Shane. That is really bad luck on the lad.
Dr Who? Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Blimey... I sure he will be back sharpish! Surprised he is not smiling!
jawillwill Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 @ShaneLong7: Thanks for all the tweets guys. Feeling alot better today and am on the mend. Here's to a speedy recovery At least he's got some light reading to keep himself occupied.
Andy Durman Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 My thoughts are with Shane. Looks like he's got a drain in his right lung. Very painful And it's going to be at least 6 weeks. I don't think we'll see him this Season. I remember when Ken Monkou had a similar injury.
shurlock Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 @ShaneLong7: Thanks for all the tweets guys. Feeling alot better today and am on the mend. Here's to a speedy recovery Surprised MLG hasn't tweeted Longy yet, demanding that he covers up.
Huffton Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 My thoughts are with Shane. Looks like he's got a drain in his right lung. Thats quite clearly the pipe supplying his oxygen mask.
Lorne Malvo Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Thats quite clearly the pipe supplying his oxygen mask. Looks like he has a bandage or something stuck on his right side.
Huffton Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Looks like he has a bandage or something stuck on his right side. Think thats just reflection from the cuff round his arm. It isn't a drain, for starters its going up.
Turkish Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 If pelle gets injured so you think we'll use a 3-5-1-1 formation with Elia in the the hole as the number 10 and Mane operating as a false 9 or will we go for something else?
Matthew Le God Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Surprised MLG hasn't tweeted Longy yet, demanding that he covers up. I'm not a Victorian prude
whelk Posted 27 January, 2015 Posted 27 January, 2015 Anyone know what he has tattooed on his chest? Looks too long to be a limerick
Redslo Posted 27 January, 2015 Posted 27 January, 2015 If pelle gets injured so you think we'll use a 3-5-1-1 formation with Elia in the the hole as the number 10 and Mane operating as a false 9 or will we go for something else? If he is healthy, Toby will play striker.
Turkish Posted 27 January, 2015 Posted 27 January, 2015 If he is healthy, Toby will play striker. Hmmmm as good as he'd be I think he'd be better off as a front sweeper behind Wanyama and Morgan ahead of Yoshida and Fonte. This would enable Clyne and Ryan to be running backs overloading the flanks and allowing Mane and Elia to both operate as False 9s rotating between that and in the hole. Id also like to see JWP used more in the quarter back role, using his passing ability to pick out the runs of our running backs and false 9s with long, angled passes in behind the opposition de-fence back line.
Andy Durman Posted 27 January, 2015 Posted 27 January, 2015 I would expect the plaster on his side is where the chest drain is. Until the lung is fully inflated he will use an Oxygen mask. Shane is going through a very difficult time. He will try and over breath, which makes you panic. I ended up having a panic attack in similar circumstances. Again my thoughts are with Shane.
hutch Posted 27 January, 2015 Posted 27 January, 2015 Think thats just reflection from the cuff round his arm. It isn't a drain, for starters its going up. In my experience it can go up a bit, as long as the end is lower than the beginning. It drains air not fluid. But I agree I can't see any evidence of a chest drain in that pic.

Who's going to fit into the clean up spot in our lineup then and will they have the patience not to swing their foot at the first ball they see?
Pancake Posted 27 January, 2015 Posted 27 January, 2015 Who's going to fit into the clean up spot in our lineup then and will they have the patience not to swing their foot at the first ball they see? Kelvin
scotty Posted 27 January, 2015 Posted 27 January, 2015 My mrs is a recovery nurse and just had a look at this picture. She says the dressing on Shanes right side could be a drain, but thinks it more likely that its a dressing to keep his oxygen tube in place. She also wanted to know "what makes it so f*cking important." Wimmin, eh?
