Good morning all,

First time I've posted on the site and it's just a quick query. I was wondering how fast Southampton sold out tickets to home games, I was looking at going to the above mentioned game as I'll be down for the weekend, how far in advance do they go on sale and do I have to be a member or anything?

Also, lastly, what's the costs for CAT A tickets?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply Saint-Fred,

I was actually looking for tickets for the home end. I'm not a Tottenham fan (Hibernian fan to be honest), just as we were down on a family weekend, wanted to see if it was possible to take in a game as well.

If they don't go on public sale, any other way of getting my hands on 3?

Angelman - I'll give ticketmaster a shot. I have went to a Newcastle game, infact I've been to a fair few. I go to quiet a lot of different Premier League and other European teams. Don't really see the problem with that?

Bucks Saint - Thanks for your answer mate, appreciate it.

Good news Linton...seeing as you are just taking in any game, it won't matter if spurs are playing in it? Bournemouth are home that day too.

You might be able to get tickets for that game. Further good news is that as a hibs/spuds fan the standard will probably be better than you are used to?

Problem with social media is that it leaves a big footprint sometimes.

Linton1388: So the date is organised, I'll be wining and dining with the horrible @RMcCracken91 very soon, tickets arrive - http://t.co/RmlZhizr - 2012-08-09 10:22:49

Anyway, I feel a little bad with the not very friendly welcome if it came across like that, so if it did, my apologies. I guess it's a game that we all want to put one over our ex manager and we (well I do) dislike Spurs, and always have. And when the first post on the board is about getting a ticket from someone not from Soton.......

Use the Liverpool ticket information as a guide for the Tottenham game in terms of ticket price, how long before the game tickets go on sale and the details of when tickets go on sale to different people relative to match-day.

The Spurs game is likely to sellout quickly with it being a more glamorous opponent, Spurs filling the away end, Pochettino's return and Saints doing well in the league.

The club's ticket policy is set out on the Southampton website. The policy makes an assumption that everyone at a game is either a home supporter or an away supporter. Why the club fail to recognise that some people just enjoy watching a football match without necessarily supporting one team or the other, I for one, fail to understand.

The Tottenham game is a category A game so even home supporters are limited to buying one ticket per person unless an additional ticket is for another registered supporter. Neutrals don't get a look in, unless you are someone like Roy Hodgson. Some neutrals probably pretend to be Saints fans and register as such but might need to go to a Cat B game first in order to create an attendance record. Angelman's advice looks sound, but you could talk to the ticket office and see what they tell you in case they have any discretion in the event of unsold seats close to the date of the match.

Prof, maybe if we had excess capacity, then neutrals could be better catered for. As we don't, then isn't it sensible that home/away supporters are catered for first?

I agree entirely that fans should come first but the policy doesn't envisage any seats being sold to neutrals even if not wanted by home fans. I assume it is to stop away fans infiltrating the other parts of the stadium by not even letting a neutral turn up on the day and buy a ticket in case they are an evil away-supporting hooligan. You can get into games at other grounds by pretending to be a home supporter and I'm sure many people on here will have done so but its a shame that people must resort to subterfuge, or buying from Touts, which I suspect is what happens.

Its not that difficult to get a ticket for games that are not as popular though. Games which have a restricted purchase policy, or a link to another game, are by definition games that are popular and will most likely sell out. These "restrictions" aim to try to ensure that saints fans get tickets ahead of any casual day visitor, which has to be right. Yes, it also tries to stop away fans from getting a ticket ahead of our own fans, which again is the right approach.

Is there a sporting chance this fixture may be switched for TV?

I assume it would not be on the Sunday as it's the Southampton Half Marathon, with road closures on Itchen Bridge and past the stadium. At least I hope they won't move it to the Sunday as I'm in the London Marathon that day and really don't want to miss this game!

could be late kick off 4pm on Sunday

as having attended Fleet Half marathon last year course was clear 3hrs after finish as there is a 10am start

But if not and Spurs still in Europa league Q/F game may get moved to Monday

HaHa i've done this trick to get tickets for the Brighton Saints game at the old Withdean. Worked a treat. Only problem was José and his winning header in the final moments. Pretty tricky last few minutes to survive afterwards. Still , well worth it.

In this case cant someone get him a ticket in a certain seat and surround him with tanked up geezers. Get him thrown out as the game starts. And he's paid for the privilage. Sorted!

Tbh if he opens his big fat tottenham gob in any part of the home sections he'll get kicked out and he might just be grateful.

For the Arse game the usual bloke who sits next to me in Itchen gave up his seat for his 80 year old Auntie who was visiting and a Gooner. She had nothing to cheer about all game! Nice old lady though (good job we didn't lose or she'd have had her sticks kicked out from underneath her) :x

Well it seems you can only post 3 times in a 24 hour period on this site, hence no comments since yesterday.

Thanks to those people for their help, and thanks to the others for the laughs, I phoned the ticket line and they said for a CAT B/C game you can get tickets no problem, but for CAT A, you have had to have bought a ticket to a previous Southampton game, which is fair enough. Enjoy the game when it comes.

Lastly, I'm not Tottenham fan, as I said just a neutral...may just have to take in a Bournemouth or Eastleigh game ;)

Thanks anyway!

This is a huge game and I would rather win this than any other match this season. I detest Spurs and have never liked their manager either.

you've been reading my thoughts PRECISELY...(aside from the fact I've disliked them for the last 40-odd years).

In the days I visited the Dell, Liverpool fans (successful in Europe in those days) were the most gregarious and would even applaud a good Saints' move, whereas Spuds fans were the most arrogant, obnoxious crew you could ever wish (not) to meet. Their grandfathers had preached the "Glory, Glory " double days at them for so long they still believed it.
