Saint-Armstrong Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 @SkyGraemeBailey: Hearing Milwall trying to sign Jos Hooiveld - would be a huge signing Ian Holloway. That'd be Hooiveld, Chaplow and Dan Harding at Millwall!! I know a few Norwich fans and they'd happily see the back of him - rarely makes the squads after a poor start.
Grigsy Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Hooiveld at Saints: Hooooooof. Goal on a Tuesday. Hoooooooof. Goal on a Tuesday. Hooooooooof. Squarehead Twitter competition. Hoooooooooof. Goal on a Tuesday. Promotion to PL. Hoooooooooof. Hooooooooooof. OG. OG. Hoooooooooooof. OG, OG, OG. Hoooooooooooof. Loaned out.
Saint Charlie Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 (edited) I loved it versus Liverpool at SMS when Hoovield was side by side with Suarez running towards our goal. Jos tripped himself up and the ref blew for a foul thinking (wrongly) Suarez had tripped Hooiveld. Suarez just stood over Hooiveld who was lying on the floor (again) and basically just laughed at him. Disclaimer: I know he was a great signing for us and part of the journey back to the PL etc. Edited 21 January, 2015 by Saint Charlie
BlakeySFC Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 Hooiveld, bloody good in the Championship, an absolute donkey in the PL.
Berkshire Saint Posted 21 January, 2015 Posted 21 January, 2015 He wasn't actually that bad in the second half of the first season up. Had a very good game in the win over Man City for example. Looked very poor when called upon last year though, looked completely shot in the cup game against Burnley.

VectisSaint Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 At least he'll have Dan Harding alongside of him, could have been worse at least its not a reunion with Danny Fox. Think that would have spelled the end of the football career of Jos.
simondo Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 Why all the hatred towards Jos??? Just remember how much he did for us and the good times he gave us.... Ok he had a tough time in the PL, but he is worth more than some of the **** so called fans write on here...
Eric The Red Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 No hatred towards Jos from me. Great asset when we needed it. Will always be one of my favourites from the Championship promotion campaign BUT sadly not up to being a premier league regular.
cellone Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 A good bloke and a decent defender. Are Millwall going to become likable.
BlakeySFC Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 A decent defender.....in the Championship. An abhorrent defender....in the PL.
cellone Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 I would say PL defenders should be some of the best in the game. Surely the championship is a decent standard, 2nd tier of English football and all that.
david in sweden Posted 26 January, 2015 Posted 26 January, 2015 A good bloke and a decent defender. Are Millwall going to become likable. oh now there's a difficult question...

Good luck to Jos I say was part of our rise and will always be remembered for being a hard working honest pro and a genuinely nice guy.
Saint Charlie Posted 1 March, 2015 Posted 1 March, 2015 Quality OG from Jos yesterday. Good to see he still has the dancing feet. Will look back on his career and realise how lucky he was to play PL football.
scotty Posted 1 March, 2015 Posted 1 March, 2015 Best of luck Jos, wherever you end up. Did a great job when we needed it, like Sharpy and others who have since fallen by the Saints wayside.
david in sweden Posted 1 March, 2015 Posted 1 March, 2015 he deserves a better club than Millwall. .......and better than L1 , which looks like Millwall's fate next season.

Agreed. I don't know why people are so quick to criticise them. They were good at that level, but that was it. Very few ever thought we'd get back-to-back promotions, and if we'd had 1 or 2 seasons more in the Championship, they'd have been invaluable. There's no shame in finding your proper level, and that was it ..for them, and a few others. What seems to annoy some fans is that they are still on the books.

Well the second post in isn't treating the player with much respect!
